He's right, that form really lends itself to scooping out and pulling down their guard, and to doing a body lock.
Surprisingly, this reminds me a lot of Russ Martin's applied Taekwondo series....good to see universal concepts, are.... universal 😅 For example: ruclips.net/video/vIvp5MPaclw/видео.htmlsi=qIj9fZSNKz5-p_oc Would be interesting to see what you make/can make of the ITF Taekwondo katas tbf also
@@alpachinko9154 🙏
There is a Hui People Style of Kung Fu called the 7 Frames or 7 Warriors. It is considered an advance style and usually taught between Cha Quan and 18 Elbows which is followed by Hsing-I. Mastering Cha Quan 1-10 Roads would be like getting a black belt in Karate (10 Tan Tui Roads and 10 Cha Quan Roads). Cha Quan 3 (Lower & Upper Flying Foot) Cha Quan 5 (Eastern Gate), Cha Quan 6 (Ambush Tiger), and Cha Quan 10 (Ambush Fist) are the most useful. Cha Quan 3 is a crash in set up for 1,2,4, or 5.
@@MrRourk this sounds interesting. Feel free to share some links on that. I’d like to see it.
@KarateUnity unfortunately all 2 videos on RUclips for Qi Shi Quan 7 Frames / 7 Warriors are not in English. One of the videos shows some almost Karate like moves.
@ it doesn’t matter what language is it in, movement is movement, I’d love to see the links, let me know
@KarateUnity youtube does not let me post links but if you search Qu Shi Quan you should find them. Plum Publications sales some old VCD's of what the call 7 Form Fist is a the same style. 7 Frames is like Shaolin 18 Luohan Kung Fu. It is based on the starting posture of sacred statues. Form these many roads / kata spring forth.
@KarateUnity youtube does not let me post links, unfortunately. Plum Publications has some VCD's on 7 Form Fist as they are calling it. Qi Shi Quan is like Luohan Shaolin Kung Fu. The starting position for the road / kata is based on a series of Ancient Statues. From these statues many roads /kata spring forth. Luohan is the Monk Fist that Incense Shop Kung Fu is founded from. Incense Shop Kung Fu is one of the founding styles from which Karate comes from.
Great video and certainly on point thank you so much for sharing this great and invaluable information !!!
@@smjmartialarts1438 thank you that means a lot🙏 happy new year
Osu! Great concepts.
Thank you, sir
Hallo bang, saya dari masa depan hari Rabu, 8 januari 2025 GMT+7 00:55
You can use frames to preemptively love the concept of it throw maybe a flurry and then crashing in with the frame i enjoy the content keep it coming
@ I like the idea of flurry and crash in, makes a lot of sense! I’ve used that before, high percentage🔥
There no Japanese Jiu Jitsu. It is written *AND* pronounced Ju Jutsu. Of course it is not important to pronounce Japanese terms correctly, just like it is not important to pronounce American/English terms correctly. You can just pronounce them as you feel fit, up to you.
@@angeloschneider4272 awesome thank you for the lesson. There’s always something to learn.🙏
@@KarateUnity The spelling of Jiu Jitsu comes from the Portugiese transliteration: Portugiese does not have a proper J letter, just like Italian. So they use "Ji" to try to express an European/Japanese J sound. I assume you are english/american? The correct pronunciation is Joo Jootzu, the letter "o"s indicating an U sound as in shoo. There is not Sheeoo and not Sheetsu. The word Jitsu - however one wants to transliterate it - does not even exist. Well, it existed about 2000 yeas ago, has nothing to do with martial arts, though. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jujutsu As you are coming from a Karate background, I think it makes more sense to use a more Japanese like pronunciation. People who do not know how Portuguese - aka Brazilians - would pronounce Ji: will pronounce it wrong. P.S. kind of embarrassing that search engines like " startpage.com " auto correct Ju Jutsu to Ji(u) Jitsu.
I did aikido for 5 years before I went into karate and yes there are some similar principles.
@@MrMattias87 thank you for the comment and for the support
Great Vid and you are fully right. I think you must train a lot of martial arts to have a strong frame in all situations. For long and mid range I use Karate. For close range a mixture of Karate, Wing Chun and Judo/ Jiu Jitsu. On the Floor then Judo/ Jiu Jitsu. Look at the UFC Fights, often you can see there the moment when the frame is breaking down. The most important Rule for all martial artists is 'be open minded, don't Stuck on one stile'. Greetings from Germany
Well said!
Hallo bang, saya dari masa depan hari selasa, 7 januari 2025 GMT+7 16:29
Kia ora and Happy New Year Chris. I was reminded of Indian martial arts while watching this excellent presentation and wanted to share this old footage of Sikh traditional art’s especially the Wild Boar style Platha. [ not Gatka which is modern performance based] It also shows Shiva style which is similar to KunTao and South Eastern arts. I couldn’t help but imagine the weapon aspect of this concept being elaborated in this video. Maraming Salamat Po. ruclips.net/video/CV_WT80rZ-E/видео.htmlsi=0REHHeFo7G9qwqfW
Very wing chun like in the follow me drill. Love seeing. I may use this to help explain it when teaching.
@@bspi624 that’s awesome! And thank you. Happy new year.
I really enjoy your presentation. Great work.
Great video.... I been practicing and teaching wing chun for nearly 30 years. I use almost all of these movements sorting flow drills. For the past two years I been learning BJJ and Judo.
@@bspi624 that’s amazing! Thanks for the support. Happy new year!

@@114Riggs we are all blessed to have touched hands with these gentlemen, thanks for the comment. Happy new year!
@ some of their hands touched my face, Seraphim got a real good accident during a demonstration on me. Never knew a man that size could hit that hard. Everybody in the Room including him was shocked. I stood there like Chris Tucker. Wondering who the hell just hit me 🤣
Only underrated by modern internet experts. 🙄🤣
@@dbuck1964 I agree with you, to expand further though, I believe you need to be patient to understand all of these things and connect them all together, it takes time, effort and repetition, and the willingness to work with others…. I’ve been grateful over these last few decades to be able to do this, and so now I’m sharing my findings.😄
@ love your channel and I agree 100%! I have a few decades in the arts as well, and I have always enjoyed studying traditional arts, but with an open mind. It’s interesting at this point in my life to be able to mix ideas and principles from different arts with increasing fluidity.
@@dbuck1964 right on! It excites me to hear these things. Keep up the good work and continue your exploration!
Interesting stuff, why don't we see this in the MMA arena??
MMA uses these principles too, but with sports rules, so you do see it there....short range strikes, functional clinch, take downs, tactile sensitivity etc. It's in ALL martial arts, they just adapt things differently.
What style of Pencak Silat is this?
I am not sure, reach out to Ilan @insidefighting

The issue the grappling and Wrestling techniques are not preserved in karate (with very rare exceptions)
One of the best free martial breakdowns ever 🤙🏾
It is in this time period that we have finally begun to fully understand the whole of karate application.
R A I D is one of the better Combatives systems I've seen. What stands out for me is how he constantly attacks the opponent's posture in the clinch.
Two good guys , ego’s checked at the doors . Would train with both of them gladly . Some good editing in this Video to boot .
