    How did you find your hotels along the way? Did you just stop wherever you found a place to stay? Are there many on that road? I'll be driving from oaxaca to san cristobal and I struggle to chose a place to stay in between the two cities to cut the travel in 2 days.

    • @JimsWanderfulWorld

      I used Google maps to find hotels along the way. It was quite easy.

    Was about to say there is no way it was actually that hot, and I googled it. Says it hit 52c, when you where riding. Highest ever recorded temp in Mexico. Testament to the Garmin's heat sensor, and ability to keep running in the hottest temps.

    down side of ebikes is they don't handle well at low speeds unless you have the assist way up, then your sucking the battery. For me climbing a hill fully loaded at under 8 mph is sketchy in eco mode, or even tour mode if the grad is over 10 percent.

  • @Adventures4vida
    @Adventures4vida Месяц назад

    I'm planning on doing the whole of Mexico and South America, on a Bosch powered Diamond back. I can get 72 miles on 1 500wh battery fully loaded. I got 2 batteries. I plan on hauling a trailer, 6 panniers, and my cat! Little much for my 520 to handle, and honestly and ebike just gives you more options. I train on my regular bike because building climbing muscles is just easier on a regular bike. Handling a heavy ebike at 4 mph fully loaded is a lot harder than a regular bike, you'll blow you're knees out trying. I did lose 70lbs last year riding only me ebike though!

    Awesome video. I'm jealous! It would be really helpful if you talk about any forms that need to be filled out to go from US to Mexico and just the whole ritual. And talk about the daily cost of biking in Mexico, like food, room or any cost that one can face on such a trip. Do you use US dollar or did you stop at a bank and changed to pesos? If so, talk about the exchange rates. Talk about any dangers, if any. Things like that. I really want to do a bike trip like this.

    • @JimsWanderfulWorld

      Great ideas. I will add that to my final video.

    I'm curious about two things. First, how much did it cost you to get your Chin stitched up in Mexico? Last year a dog bit my finger and caused a one inch cut. The medical center I went to here in U.S. charged me almost five thousand dollars for five stitches. Thankfully no bones were broken. My second question to you is U.S. uses 120v and Mexico uses 127v electricity. Do you plug in your ebike's battery charger strait into an outlet in Mexico or do you need an adapter? Thanks.

    • @JimsWanderfulWorld
      @JimsWanderfulWorld 5 месяцев назад

      The five stitches I received cost $250 pesos and another $250 to have them removed. So about $25 usd in total. All North Americans electrical devices are the same for Mexico. You can use your debit card to get pesos at any ATM. Daily costs with hotel are at the most $60 usd per day.

  • @JeffBassir-lo6zj
    @JeffBassir-lo6zj 5 месяцев назад

    I envy people like you who take on challenging and dangerous adventures. Looks like a lot of fun. I have a very hard time fully trusting man-made devices. Electric bikes are much heavier than manual bikes, mainly because of the battery, motor, and controller. If any of these devices fail while you're miles and miles away from the closest village, then what? You are going to have to push that heavy ebike through very rough terrains. That, for me, takes all the fun out of the trip. I'm 68, if I go on an adventure like this, I'll ride a light-weight manual bike with as little of cargo as possible. I take my hat off to you for the challenge you put yourself through. Be safe.

    • @JimsWanderfulWorld
      @JimsWanderfulWorld 5 месяцев назад

      I agree. Starting out with a very good quality bike cuts the risk but not all. The worst things that happened to me, amongst many flats, was breaking the rear axle. I was held up for two days finding a new one. Thank you for your comment. 😊

      Thank you so much for your comment. It was the experience of a lifetime and I highly recommend it. Mexico has plenty of affordable options for hotels because you will always need a place to charge your batteries. I recommend bringing an extra battery which I used every day.
