    I'm aware that all these masters are very well trained and have reached a degree of martial science of very great height. Even still, I'm still never amazed to look at anyone when I compare them with Master Bruce Lee!! I only go into a thought as to what degree he had reached to have possessed such immortal ability of the martial science. We can see their legs shake while they are showcasing their skills. But Master Bruce Lee never ever shook and flinched!! Come what may!!! I may be wrong. Just a thought!!

    I'm in Queensland. Australia. My yoga teacher is now known as Sa Bom Nim. She spent 30 years in the art and is passing it on to me. I wish to take this further. Always have since very little. Got there in 2016 but the club was rushed and it turned out to be unrecognised. Does anyone out there know ANYWHERE in Queensland I can learn and take it further? If I can be trained by her I would train others but I know I need years and years. I found some in NSW but it's too far a distance at the moment. 🙏

  • @WadeSmith-oe5xd
    @WadeSmith-oe5xd 3 месяца назад

    The style I study requires a minimum of 5 years per belt after 3rd dan. No way there's a 9th dan that young in Isshinryu karate. You're lucky to make 6th or 7th dan that young. They usually do not make exceptions to the rules either in my style. If you don't know EVERYTHING you're supposed to know on a belt test, especially after 4th Dan and at 1st Dan too, then you fail and you might not get tested again for another 5 years.

    • @WadeSmith-oe5xd
      @WadeSmith-oe5xd 3 месяца назад

      LIke it would be HARD ot get a 9th dan in Isshinryu by the time you're 50 or 55 years old, even if you started full time training at 7 years old and stuck with it. To get 1st Dan from my old Sensei took 6 to 10 years even if you circuit trained 20 hours per week. He flat out did not give out "paper black belts" if you got a 1st kyu or black belt from him, you were one badass fighter. Even Grand Master A.J. Advincula sort of got stuck at 7th Dan for a long time before he finally resumed promotions to eventually 9th Dan.

    • @WadeSmith-oe5xd
      @WadeSmith-oe5xd 3 месяца назад

      That's not how you fight with a bo anyway. I mean if I was 20 years old again, like when I was black belt testing, I could disarm him pretty easily. The best fighters in a dojo, besides the Sensei, are usually first kyu or first Dan, because they are the hungriest and training the hardest.

    • @WadeSmith-oe5xd
      @WadeSmith-oe5xd 3 месяца назад

      @@merarigomez6835 True. One thing I don't like about Isshinryu as a global organization is the fact there is no wiggle room in belt promotions. I was beating 2nd Dans pretty easily in no rules sparring, and yet they never gave me a first Dan simply because I didn't have a photographic memory for Kata, so I failed Sunsu kata test 6 times in a row. So what? I was fighting at least 3rd Dan skill level and circuit training 20 hours per week.

    • @WadeSmith-oe5xd
      @WadeSmith-oe5xd 3 месяца назад

      @@merarigomez6835 BJJ is the same way. I'm still a "white belt" from having to quit too many times to get promoted, even though I have in fact tapped out some black belts in pure submissions only rules. I was probably lucky, but so what? A win is a win. :). IN one case I tapped a female in BJJ with something as common as the Side Head Lock, and she was ranked above me in BJJ, and I simply explained that even out of shape as i was, there was no way in hell a woman was beating me in a grappling match. Once i passed her guard, she had no chance at all against me, and I find it hilarious for example that a blue belt man could get tapped by a 120 pound brown belt woman. He must have zero upper body strength or something. Even Grand Master Calandra the other day in a submissions for self defense class ultimately admitted that the only way a woman could beat a dedicated male attacker in a street fight was to gouge his eyes out with her thumbs. and he even told the woman in the class that TWICE right in the middle of a seminar on video. It doesn't matter how much technique you train a woman, she would need to be a world class athlete and lucky as hell to beat a 185+ man at anything.

    This is a really cool video but no of the students or junior instructors practice enough! They are all very lazy and this man is barely above anything but old and experienced! You practice a minimum of five hours a day, maximum of 8 hours. These guys would be destroyed by a properly disciplined green belt. Grasshopper, there are things old masters will never teach the Western students about Tae Kwon Do. Discipline-Practice-Train. Early Tae Kwon Do was part internal and part external boxing. 8 hours a day to be sitting on that floor, 16-20 hours a day 2 days a week alternating with 5 hours a day 4 days a week. Take plenty of vitamin supplements-at least two multivitamins a day and drink lots of water. And maintain a disciplined form. A proper block will break the joints of a senior man when his form isn't right. Mind and body must be all in the same direction at the same time! Practice on concrete or stone, not cushy mats! Silla Warriors, dude, all grandmasters or 100 times better by the time they were 25. The real knights of Ancient Korea! Korea conquered China on more than one occasion and made the pay tribute! This fellows stance when he kicks is unstable and his punch weak! This is the sad state of Tae Kwon Do today. I will say nothing. I just did 10,000 repetitions of an exercise sitting on my bed. Feel free to hurt my feelings, you might have a recommendation I might just follow! And I will master that suggestion on the job! You want a soft life?! CRY IN THE DOJANG, LAUGH ON THE BATTLE FIELD. Frankish knights under Charlemagne cried like women in practice of their martial and equestrian arts and laughed loudly like men fighting wars for FUN and vanquished their enemies 1 of them to every 10 enemies. Charlemagne wiped out 2 million Saracens with 200,000 men. They had 1.8 million advantage 8n numbers! (n the day they met Charlemagne, they never breathed or saw their families again - Charlemagne and his boys did! HONOR THE ART AND THE ART WILL HONOR YOU. Young or old, all can practice Tar Kwon Do When I was a kid in the Midwest, the grand masters really did hard stuff for there 9th degree black belts. I knew a 5th degree who pulverized concrete blocks to dust and curled 80 pound dumbbells and did hundreds of pushups who exemplified the old silla mentality! Nevertheless. I bow in respect to all the students and this man going for his 9th degree black belt but PRACTICE more! At 2nd degree black belt you should be practicing a minimum of 5 hours a day, if you make it that far! I practiced each form ten times a day. But additively: 1st, 1st+2nd, 1st +2nd+3rd. up to 2nd degree so ten forms, ten times a day. I had white piss when I was done! Never yellow when I practiced and two or three multivitamins and 3/4; of a gallon of water got sucked up!

    I got my Brown in Karate, Black in Taekwondo, 3X State wrestling champ, and bare knuckle fighter, with 64 paid fights, 2 losses. The discipline of Martial arts is great for a lot of reasons, but unless you're fighting another Martial artist, a street fight is going to be unpredictable. Control you're breathing, as adrenaline will amp up heart rate!! You must remain calm, focused, fluid, and adaptable, and remember that he/she is not you're "Opponent", but instead you're "Enemy"!! Which is to say; Put you're "Enemy" down as fast as possible. If at all possible Do NOT go to the ground. Avoid high kicks, instead focus on low leg/groin and abdomen kicks. Same with strike's, solar plexes/abdomen strike's will end a fight 70% faster then head strike's. -For what it's worth E.S.H.

    GM Lee was a physical phenomenal when he was a 6th degree. I had lunch with him in Chico, Ca. when he came for an ATA demo. I understand age does evil things to the body, but GM looks better than most 9th degrees I've seen. Go GM Lee ! One last thing, I quit the ATA because of the overwhelmingly fancy katas that have very little to do with the application of the art in reality.
