This humanitarian crisis is a lot closer to home then you know. You don’t have to be poor, addicted to drugs… the brain is the number one cause to taking the city streets route in life. A childhood friend of mine who lives about 1 minute away is practically a “homeless” person living in the basement of his parents house… he hasn’t bathed or changed his clothes in over 5 months… the issues that cause someone to give up are a lot more real and personal than you can imagine… you or me could be sitting on a corner holding a cup for money… you never NEVER know.

I moved to the middle of no where from Phoenix because it was a nightmare. Leaf blowers at my complex going up and down my corridor hallway, standing on top of the carports and roofs. Going on my patio right next to my windows while im working from home. I take walks and would hear them daily in the neighborhood 6am - 6pm. It was life in hell. Unfortunately I found the sacrafice is to live somewhere that had no manicured landscape at all and is desolate. HOAs., home owners and renters pay a lot for this worthless, destructive air and noise polluting hazard to keep low paid landscapers in business.

I remember during Covid it was impossible to see an emergency vet. They all were diverting to other hospitals and if you found one that would take you, the wait was up to 24 hours. I wonder how many people lost their beloved pets because of this. It was truly frightening.

I had aild case of covid twice. Just 6 weeks ago prior to that i was tired but my feet in incredible pain. Now i am totally exhausted plus other intermittant things i just cant do much anymore. This is the pits

As a vet from Germany, praticing in the Netherlands, I can unfortunately cocmpletely agree with the mentioned crisis like conditions of our profession. Luckily we do not have to put up with those tremendous student depts but all other points also apply to work here. We also face little appreciation for our work, which I would also want to emphasise and financial euthanasia is almost establishing itself within many owners ethics/realities as a quick and comfortable solution for not dealing with health issues. I have encountered many owners consciously neglecting issues to the point that euthanasia was neccessary in order to avoid treatment costs and "work". My heart goes out to all my collegues in every country holding up this profession. ❤

We don't address mental illness, in the US. A homeless person, with substance abuse, alcoholism, or mental illness ,can go to a Government agency, given a housing voucher, through Catholic Charities moved into a place and get evicted , because , he or she, has mental illness and can't take care of ones self. Its a revolving door

I wish they could make it affordable for people to get into the veterinary field. Then they could change careers if it ever gets too stressful without worrying about their animals they cares for for so long 😔

I divorced his police father 14 years ago and he took him from me form the time he was 15 and abused him and the father died and my son still thinks he is alone like he brainwashed him and it’s all mental illness. I would like to say thanks to all vets around the world. I am currently in Lebanon and had to take some cats to the vet hospital. One kitten was almost dead when we arrived. The Vet a young lady named Joanna Haddad of Paradise pet hospital, immediately started working on the kitten. The doctor managed to bring up the temperature of the kitten and placed an IV and other medication. I left the hospital expecting to hear bad news, however to my surprise the doctor saved the kitten just in time. They opened the hospital recently and are serving many animals in need of care. The hospital charges are very affordable especially with the economic situation in Lebanon. I would like to thank Joanna and her team for a great job and the care that they are putting in order to help the animals.

My heart goes out to you. I feel your heartbreak. My son was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia when he was 25. He's 36 now. I'm grieving. He has never lived anywhere but with family, now with his father, we divorced but are amicable. I am grateful he isn't homeless or in jail or dead!
