BMW Adventure bike on the MotoTote Max+ Carrier
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.2 года назад
First time loading a bike on my new MotoTote carrier. According to Google, the BMW wheel base is at 62.1" and the carrier says it will hold 62"! What are the odds. I won't be taking this bike with me on my journeys so it's not a big deal. Wanted to see how much the van would sag with a decent size bike on the back. Anyways.....enjoy!! Please make another video for front wheel
@@klavier0x99 sold the bike. The front wheel is even easier though.
How much lift did you get. Thanks
@@veterantraveller-dq4re maybe watch the video lol.
I know its been a couple of years since this was post, I was curious if the ride height remained the same or not?
@@drewrikon9481 I never remeasured but the van looked the same after putting 15k miles on it. I’ve since sold it.
I've been DD on my 2024 Heritage, I turned my left saddle bag into a drink carrier with foam. It's worked so far. small orders fit in the right side bag and large orders I strap to my passanger pillion and sissy bar in an insulated bag.
I Want This Done To My 2002 E-250. You Guys Are Awesome.
sounds good lol
So you loosened the pinch bolts before cracking the axle?
The pinch bolts are pinching the axle. The pinch bolts prevent the axle from unthreading. To answer your question yes but now you understand the reasoning which should help you in future problem solving
Amazing video bro, thank you.
Did you go with the same E250 springs - or did you move up with the E350? I'm trying to determine if the E250 springs will fix my E150 for even more lift.
I need to remove my cats and straight pipe it cause my performance sucks in my 98 ford e250 van
Simple. To the point. A few thoughts: One, I would never suggest using them bolts as spools. And while you clearly stated why, could the bolts give out under the weight of motorcycle? (Probably not unless you sit on the bike). "Castle Nut", I wonder if this changed because my Service Manual clearly labels it as an Axle Nut. When removing the tire, I use rubber chock blocks and snug them up under the tire. Mark the floor with masking tape on the outter esge of the chock blocks. Once the axle comes out, the tire/wheel will not fall. Eliminates having to rely on your foot for balance. Once the axle is removed and the wheel is ready to be pulled out, hold the wheel with one hand while slowly moving the chock block. This acts as a second set of hands in case anything happens, the wheel won't drop. When placing the wheel back in between the swingarm, the chocks will stabilize the wheel for easiest insertion of the rear axle. Just line the chock blocks back up with the masking tape on the floor and it should place the tire/wheel 98-100% accuracy. Tge foot method seems efficient. But I don't trust myself from possibly getting a cramp or losing balance, dropping the wheel. Chock blocks ensure stability. Great video!!
great order set just same as y all on a 93 e150 lol same thing
I see you didn’t adjust the chock, but for that little bit of extra room you could’ve let a little air out the front to push it further fwd as well
Yes you are totally right. My brain that day was running on low lol. The rack works great.
thanks for making this. whered you get the box/bag on your back seat from? Is it big enough for pizza boxes?
Good sound❤
Is the bilstein shock better than monroe? Is there a better/best one? I was thinking of changing my front shocks too... thanks for the vid
Yes it is! Definitely swap it out
Awesome video thanks for the help! Also any video ok how to check chain tension or so?
Why would you lift a 2WD van? I’d definitely just do a 4wd conversion and do it right.
Ground clearance and it looks cool ya jabroni
Enlighten Us All.... Make a video of you doing it and we'll watch - let us know how easy and cheap it was also.
The only thing that kind of sucks doing this is the wait time, and it adds up but typically alright if it's over a 5 dollar order. Shit even a extra 50 a day 5 days a week for a month is a extra 1,000 that's my rent lol
Oakley was working the camera in this entire video. Props to Oakley.
Where did you get the bag from? The bag on your bike
How is the ride quality after the spring change does it feel stiffer/rougher of a ride? Also what size Falkens did you go with and how are you liking them?
Thanks boss!
$999 in 2022
They will probably be on sale for Black Friday. Worth every penny.
sick
So you dont have to unbolt the rear caliper or anything? It just sits there?
Correct. The axle is what hold it all together. The caliper is attached to its bracket that sits on that ledge.
Super helpful video! I just bought the same van (but a ‘92) and it sways a lot a highway speeds. Installed new shocks and springs and it made a big difference, but I’m hoping this will be what I need to finally drive straight without having to make constant corrections!
Last thing I’d recommend is installing a front & rear sway bar if it doesn’t have them. Hellwig is a good brand to go with 👍🏻
Love it! We need about a hundred more of these videos to watch
Wow these filthy bastards are addicted to stealing
Thank you for making this video man I appreciate it it helped me out for my rebuilding stage on my bike!
Make sure to check direction arrows on rim and tire.
If your shop knows what they are doing you should be good.
Nice, quick video, and kudos on the parts numbers!
Glad it helped!
I have them, but someone else needed it and this was a better video than any I'd researched before, so I shared it instead.
Nice video! Did you feel a big difference? My steering has a huge amount of play at highway speeds, so I’m wondering if this might do the trick…
For me it made a huge difference!
Also check to see if you can make a minor adjustment in your steering box. I just did this one mine and it made a big difference. I'm going to install the steering stabilizer tomorrow.
Same with a 2003 or no?
It will be similar
Super helpful! Thanks for the video 👌 Just got a 92 coachmen! Installed 265/75/16 Pirelli Scorpion All Terrains and they rub quite a lot, so new springs is the way to go…
I still had to cut some plastic on the backside. Just a little bit! No rubbing anymore
You switched it from the front hitch to the back was it too heavy for the front I’m trying to front hit my mx setup to the front any advice I can’t carry it on the rear hitch I have a trailer
And how heavy is your bike mine is 460-80
I just bought this same setup also want to mount on the front updates on how well it holds up on the front ?
I never actually used it on the front. Just put it up front for the video. As long as your hitch is rated for the weight you shouldn’t have a problem.
Thanks
You have to move up the front tire chock to the first position. Besides that, the hitch is not rated for that heavy of a bike. bike should be less that 400 pounds for your ford e250
Yup we got that sorted out from a few other comments about moving the front choke forward. Secondly, I installed the rear hitch myself. Curt #14053 has a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs. My BMW weighs around 500-525 loaded. The MotoTote carrier weighs 60lbs. My hitch can more than carry that weight. Has done it many times already. Next time don’t assume.
@@oakleeme7679I just got my MotoTote and the customer service has been absolutely amazing getting it all set up. I came across this video as a suggestion and wanted to see how others are strapping down their bikes. I'm glad to see that the bike was staying upright by itself! I also thought that the hitch rating is limited by the vehicle. Meaning if your aftermarket hitch is rated at 10,000 lb but your vehicle has an OEM of 5,000 lbs, you are limited by the lower of two numbers...in this case 5,000 lbs. Conversely if your hitch was rated at 2,500 lbs and your vehicle tow capacity was 5,000 lbs, you'd be limited to 2,500 lbs. Either way, thanks for the vid and hope you stay safe (and help others stay safe on the road as well!)
My dad once cut the cat off of our e350 5.4 cuz it needed replaced and was curious how it would sound with out it and when i say it was loud I mean I could hear it almost half a mile down the street. When he first started it up I made the mistake of standing right next to the thing.

Thanks man! I post a lot more on my Instagram page. @Oakleenme
They need Justice
I’ll give this a shot. I’ll do it on a 1990 Goldwing in NYC. The use of the trunk is cool. Stealthy.
That sounds awesome!!
Do you have the front wheel stop fully maxed out to the left? If not that could allow you more room for the bike to clear the back tire to release the ramp.
Sadly I did not think of this at all until the bike was back on the ground. MotoTote themselves said the same thing haha. It would fit if I adjusted the front wheel stop further out.
I have e250 van and doing any work on it has been a pain in my ass. Took me all day to do front shock absorbers glad to be done with front absorbers on to the rear hoping it will go easier. I will be happy when i am done restoring van never will do it again.
It’s a little challenging for sure. The rears aren’t much easier 😬 you’ll get it!
No joke ford e series vans dont like being fixed
Did you do the rear blocks?
Yup. 2” blocks along with new shocks. Bought the blocks from Action Van Suspension.
@@oakleeme7679 thanks searching specific E350 blocks goes no where… I did the spring swap tonight and ended up with 3” lift in the front…. Now I need to level it off
@@theschafers5513 The blocks should be the same. I would call Action Van. Keep in mind the front will settle after you put some miles on it.
Will do… do you remember what they cost?
@@theschafers5513 I paid $149
What if you get a bunch of drinks
I tried to avoid drinks if possible. I have gotten a few though. I would have it in a cup holder in the box. Works pretty good.
Gotta do this to Blanche
Changes the entire look of the inside. Hardest part is cutting the butcher block honestly. Very time consuming
