Awesome rocking band.
I have my Hair with sugar -water washing, and Play Fuzzi for ewer.😂
TEACHER SENT ME HOME, FOR LISTENING TO THIS AMAZING MUSIC. HEADMASTER WANTED TO SPEAK TO MY PARENTS. DON'T NO WHY
Taking trips don't necessarily mean taking L.S.D. I've taken some bizarre trips with books.
As real as it gets. Phenomenal band. Not mentioned enough when describing the birth of heavy music. these guys were deffs one of the first to be this Heavy. You can hear the Cream, Vanilla fudge, and Hendrix influence, but they took it a step further and took what those guys were doing and really made it their own. can here the Ginger/Carmine double bass shuffle, which is a big part of it. and I'm so glad..obviously liked cream lol
Not the cream...
Grate band!
came across them in oxford town hall they were so loud the sound squad and humpers were in the pub across the road. we were there as support disco road show. DREAN CIRCUS,
Didn't know about this band in the states
Nostalgie nostalgie quand tu nous tiens
Super groupe il n'y en a plus rien maintenant
It was more of a British heavy Blues sound. Their weren't many bands i think that had a real heavy metal sound . Cream latter period of Yardbirds out of the ashes Zeppelin. Deep purple definitely. Warhorse Nicky Simper band Atomic Rooster Mountain ledlie West Blue Cheer over the top pre dawn metal . Again most bands i know leaving alot out they paved the way for what would become what we known in late 70s early 80's as British Heavy Metal..
Hello Louie and Mark. i was wondering if some live recordings by Gun exist. on youtube, there is a concert in Paris with 4 tracks. it was part of a festival with Chicken Shack. it would be fair to hear some other tracks if there are any.
there is the one i uploaded here ruclips.net/video/VfkJzR7vMYY/видео.html or is that the one you are referring to?
yes that's the one I'm referring to . I was thinking of some english aka live at the BBC or even german beat club live videos .
@@bernardDENY that french one is the only live footage i have been able to source so far unfortunately
@@planetalien hello MARK. Thank you for your answer . it's a pity. By the way, I discovered that your father Louie was in a group called Bulldog Breed in 1969 . it's a great album, and he's well produced! do you know how Louie went to meet that group, which is far from the Gun sound! a great discover. I supposed the label was too small to get publicity and airwaves? it's a shame.
@@bernardDENY yep dad swapped places with Dunton, Dunton joined the Gun so they could fulfil live commitments apparently, dad knew Jinks prior to the The Gun days, you ever noticed my dad doing the "Race" beat in "Top O the Pops Cock ? ! ? !" from 01:56
"RACE WITH A DEVIL" FIRST HEAVY METAL NO. 1 HIT EVER !
Heavy metal from a time when the term didn't even exist! Today's metalheads owe a debt of gratitude for bands like this laying down the foundation for their sound!
What a great performance wish I had been there. Mr Gurvitz the guitar player can certainly bend those strings …outstanding performance!
Great band and album but they needed a few rehearsals they are way out of tune LoL
Par Excellence
Well done Mark Farrell .Great video .Any relation to the drummer ?
Yep, he's my dad
.His drumming career was extraordinary ,particularly in the Gun, but also the Bulldog Breed, with another fine drummer, Peter Dunton ,as well as Bernard Jinks, both of T2 fame. Then the Knack . He keeps cropping up in the classic power trio Albums. He is so much more than Race With the Devil
Amazing surprise! My first time ever seeing any live video of the Gun!! Excellent track list and impressive performance. Outstanding musicianship -- lame singing though 🙂 Even made my ears bleed quite a few times, Such a shAme..... Sorry if this comment pisses off someone. I'm just being ojective. At least, trying to.
This fucking great, gives me shivers!
Magnificent Power Trio in Action!
I've never heard of this group before, and I'm a huge 50's-70's fan. I wonder what else I'm missing and don't know it. lol
BUDGIE
hello Mark. great track but it seems to be the Rupert's People version (composers/lyricist credits: Haskell - Conder- Lynton )? There is organ too, even if the lead guitar solo could be played by Adrian Gurvitz? And they are 4 ou 5 musicians on some photos as well, which seems strange when you speak about the three piece GUN ? So, is your father playing on this track ? he's such a good drummer on Gun 2 LPS, even if the second one is too soft in comparison with the magnificen,t first one. To my opinion, Paul's compositions are not as good as Adrian's ones . It's a pity that Louis Farrell was not the Three Man Army drummer!
as far as i know, it was the transitional phase between knack/gun (Mycroft on keys), although Paul will know more!
Yes dear I am playing on this track, Dad. @@planetalien
Hi, the picture at 1.49 shows left to right Paul Gurvitz, Gearie Kenworthy, their roadie (I think from memory), Louie Farrell and Tim Mycroft, the original Gun. 'Hold On' first recorded by the Fleur De Lys (but issued under Rupert's People name), they also recorded it with Sharon Tandy. Fleurs asked to become the Ruperts People band but declined, then for a month or two a 'bogus' Ruperts was assembled by manager Howard Conder, the new line up included Adrian Gurvitz. This Ruperts People was together for about a couple of months, then Conder persuaded one of his bands Sweet Feeling (who included Rod Lynton who co-wrote 'Hold On') to become RP, and they finally agreed and made 2 singles in late 67/68.
Et une fois de plus le caméraman et la régie n'ont pas pigé qu'il fallait filmer le soliste .....pfffffffffffffffffffffff
Listening to the opening riff of "Race With The Devil" is witnessing the birth of Motorhead!
These guys are amazing and painfully underrated. My father was a big fan of 3 Man Army and discovered them thay way. I swear at times he sounds like Jack Bruce and sounds excellent on "Im So Glad" and gives Eric a run. Those Marshalls sound just phenomenal... Just Glorious and cranked!
Love Them
Outstanding trio
You gotta love the sideburns on Adrian. ...
Not one of the greatest band, but they had their fun...
Magnific !!!!!
I knew about Gun back in the day. Bought the album with the demonic cover. I thought they were pretty darn good. But seeing this now, in 2022 I think they were even better than the album. They coulda been contenders :)
Roger Dean the guy who did Asia and Yes album covers did the cover on that album
Uau!!!!!! Que sonzeira!!!! Massa pra dedéu!!!!! Bacana demais!!!👏👏👏👏👏
Le réalisateur français visiblement ne comprend rien à la musique !
Oh yeaaa... this for sure is the best live version. Laughing like a madman even
Great performance!! Just wish they threw in the evil laugh and couple of horn players for Race With the Devil. Those two things made the song..
Paul Gurvitz!
Thanks so much for sharing this great footage!!!! The light projection during the drum solo reminded a bit of the back cover photo on Monster Magnet’s “Tab” ep. The band was really heavy for that time frame too! Hopefully some Love Sculpture footage will turn up someday as well. Thanks again!
Wild. Never even heard of them. Here is some background info en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_(1960s_band)#:~:text=%20The%20Gun%20were%20a%20late%201960s%20British,band%20included%20brothers%20Paul%20Gurvitz%20and%20Adrian%20Gurvitz.
Holy Smokes!!!...why have i just stumbled across this 68' killer 3 piece from hell!!!😨...???
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Черт! Как он это делает?! Просто отрыв. Супер! В СССР о группе GUN узнал только получив в 80-х польский винил с первым альбомом.
Да бро согласен с тобой. Команда супер!
Why could they never point the camera at the correct guitarist in the 60s?
Wish someone could find some great footage of Three Man Army. They toured with Doobie Bros so why no footage?
A wonderful surprise! I’ve been a fan since the first album came out in the 60’s and it’s great that there are live videos of them! A monster band truly deserving wider recognition!
you don't know how much i love that i can see my old man can play
So Powerful!
Super classic song 👌👏🎸🎸🥁🎶🎙️🎧
Great band ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Judas Priest did a killer cover of "Race with the Devil"
Heres the final one. Please discuss any news good or bad, and I will delete the files. They are pretty poor quality ruclips.net/video/vstHXcGgUuQ/видео.html
This song actually reminded me of TAKE OFF - SImilar vibe
