1/35 US Army WW2 | Painting My Way
Hello everyone, hope all is well? And modelling till our fingers are glued, painted and of course the accidental ouch of a scalpel to the thumb…we’ve all been there!
Anyway…this is my interpretation of how to paint us army in the ww2 era.
It might not be 100% on accuracy but I’m happy with what I’ve managed to achieve! That’s the point right?
I do believe this is a Scale75 miniature I nabbed off eBay, it’s a little gem! Well sculpted and bursting with detail!
So as always thank you to everyone tuning in and subscribing! And please like comment and even share to someone who might like this?
Peace ✌🏼

HELLO everyone, how do ‘tips hat So..many months ago I found a pretty hilarious and crazy photo of a universal carrier literally jumping off a hill…yes a hill…so I thought why not try and recreate the photo? So here it is, my attempt at trying to get as close as I could to the original. I realise there’s a few things missing off it like the driver, the driver in the kit was trash! Old tamiya fi...

Nicely done mate
Great way to paint figures. I'm looking for ideas and you have a great method. Quick question, when you applied the panel liner - did you apply it directly over the paint or did you put on a protective clear coat first?
Thank you! It’s taken me years to get to this level, and even that isn’t the best! But I’m pretty happy with where I’m at, I didn’t put a protective coat on, just went straight over the paint, then use a clear coat, as I find it dulls the panel line down and make it look less bold? If that makes sense?
@@135scalefail Perfect sense! Thanks for the reply.
@ScotterzModelz no worries! This channel isn’t about showboating my skills, it’s about learning and helping other modellers achieve something they’re proud of!
You're welcome! I'm working on something too. Thanks for the great video!🤗🥰
Awesome mate! Keep up the great work 👍👍
WHERE’S THE DRIVER ?????????? A lot of PAINTING on the diorama base…. GREAT IDEA…….. Still was fun building it, RIGHT ? Dioramas are fun to do…… CHRIS 🇺🇸
😂 he fell out….i had every intention to put a driver and a few figures on with it, but I wasn’t feeling the kits originals, and eBay let me down! But it was still a fun and excellent kit! Thanks for the feed back!
Nice build Video, the Stug III from Takom is a little bit tricky to build.
Great video, lovely finish! Can I ask what the clear liquid you apply before the pigments is?
Cheers dude! Appreciate it, and yeah sure, I just used some clear 3D printing resin and let it pool in like a round dome shape before I cured it with my uv touch and broke it up to make it look like clear glass broken? Hope that’s helpful?
Cheers! I was actually wondering about the thinner stuff you flow into the wheels before the pigments!! Good tip on the clear printing resin though, I have some of that and now have another use for it!!!
This hobby is already expensive enough! Gotta find a use for everything haha! And the thinner is just standard enamel thinner, think it’s the humbol one? Makes the pigment stick a bit better? But can still brush away any excess?
@@135scalefailawesome, thanks, I get my first pigments tomorrow and have enamel thinner, I'll give it a go!!!
素晴らしい作品ですね、なかなか個性的な車輌ですよね、私も今、このキットを製作中です、私は、車体色を水色で塗装して、サビを分断に入れています、完成が楽しみデス。
Hey buddy, I love your work, can you show me how did you do the flag ?
Hey mate, thank you so much, and all I did to make the flag, was cut up a square/rectangle piece of tissue (not toilet roll) tissue you get from the little packs? And just used a pencil to draw it out and painted it with some thinned down tamiya paint, then Jobs a gooden! Hope that’s helpful?
I have just bought the same kit. Love what U have done.
Thanks Alan! It’s a pretty decent quick little kit! Should be posting more soon, problem is my studio is my garage and in the winter months, it’s rather cold! 😂 but will soon pick back up
👍
Shame about fixing that one suspension arm in the wrong position. One way to avoid that is to put it on a flat surface to check before the cement has set and you can adjust to be level.
Excellent fidelity and detail. Outstanding cammo pattern!
Hello again bud, what material did you use to wrap around the gun barrel, thank in advance.
Hey Craig, i used a cut up piece of tissue, not toilet roll, find that’s too brittle, the type you find in the pocket packs of tissue, mixed in with some pva and water and you have a nice tarp/canvas
@@135scalefail ok cool thanks, i assume the same material for the turret (base of the barrel).
Yeah that’s right I’m going to assume your building something similar?
@@135scalefail yeah i got the Mk5 a few days ago, i'm wanting to paint it black and green, but i'm not too keen on nato black, i'm also considering adding some cam net to the side bins on the turret.
Hello again, do you have any ideas to help me with making front mudflaps for the Mk5
Perfect work
Thanks man, really appreciate that, been away for a while now, but I’ll be putting a new vid up really soon! ✌🏼
Very clever 👊👊👊
What did you use to take the top layer of green off reveal the hull red, also how did you make the stowage bins look distorted, damaged and bent. Great video and great talent 👍
Hey Craig, thanks for the compliment, and for the chipping I used AK heavy chipping fluid in the airbrush, just spray it on let it dry, paint your top coat and use warm water with a stiff brush to take it off, and the stowage bins I used a tealight candle and softened the plastic and used the butt end of a paint brush to add a dent. Hope that’s helpful?
@@135scalefail Hey dont mention it, I really enjoyed the video it was very educational i'm pretty much new to detailed modelling, i've almost finished a T-34/76 and my first attempt at detailing... weathering, chipping etc. My next challenge is the Mk 5 and i'd like to dedicate the Mk 5 build to my old Sgt and my father who both served during the tanks service.
Really nice video - great work on that face and still keeping it simple in technique- congratulations
Thanks man appreciate it! Sometimes I feel like you can get to into faces and end up scrapping the whole thing, so I find if you hold it out far enough and squint if it looks alright then it probably is? Haha, but you have to keep it simple to much and you loose interest
@@135scalefail - great advice!
love your vid man its help me alot with how to paint and weathering my vehicle
Dude you are welcome, and thank you for reaching out! Means a lot! I’m not the best! But aslong as we have fun! That’s the main thing! ✌🏼
My dad was in a carrier that drove into a wadi in north Africa in WW2. Dropped about 8 feet he said. Him and his mates and all their gear kept on flying forward Driver broke his back
Oh wow! Thanks for the story! That’s amazing! So it was quite common for those things to go flying off everywhere? Haha sorry about the drivers back though! But thanks for that little story
Same from me - a beautiful piece of work but must have some figures - preferably all hanging on for dear life!
Thanks Neil really appreciate it, and I know! I wish I just used the tamiya stock figure 😔 but I decided not to ugh! 😂 yeah that would of been funny I’ll bare all this in mind on the next one thanks man
Yeah, Definately needs some figures. They don't just jump hills all by their little selves.
Hhahaha! I know I know I wish I did just use the old out of scale whacky tamiya one nevermind let’s just say someone left the hand break off? 😂
@@135scalefail 👍
I think it turned out beautiful, well done on the weathering, it works perfectly with the base. I would however add some figures to give it context and a bit more realism, an empty vehicle in motion always looks a bit off. Add a couple of figures and it would be a perfect little Diorama !
Thanks dude really appreciate that! And ugh tell me about it! I wasn’t feeling the clunky derp tamiya figure that came with the kit, so I left it out! Otherwise I’d totally have a figure or two
Hurry up and get that Dragon built 😊
Totally badass!👍🏻
Ahah thanks dude! First time working with lights, so I think it turned out quite good?
@@135scalefail It turned out amazing!
Congratulations on 500 subs. Keep up the good work.
Thank you my friend! Here’s to the next 500 and many many more videos 👍🏻☺️
Fence posts look spot on. I thought the tree was particularly well made. Great attention to detail overall, and trust the process! <3
Thank you so much! Really appreciate the kind words, was a pain trying to super glue the fence wire! Always gotta trust the process thanks again. 👍🏻
Not bad sir.
Why thank you sir! Much appreciated ☺️
Ah, very cool diorama build. Very interesting how you did that. I appreciate you sharing this build with us. Great work.
Thank you sir 👍🏻 had fun doing it, wanted to do something different but the next one should be good!
Cool tutorial
Thank you very much! Was nervous at first to see if it would actually work! And it paid off in the end I think haha
This turned out excellent!
Thanks man! Never done anything like it before, so it was great when it worked out in the end haha
Good morning Modelcomrade Perfect work, nice Model.. It cry, s 😊😊for a Diorama ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Good morning modelcomrade haha, thank you so much…you never know, it might be happening 😜 haha
Great job!!!!!!
Thanks man, hope you enjoyed the watch? I’m still learning but I appreciate the kind words
Hi buddy, great figure painting. Perhaps you need to slow it down a bit and maybe make your videos slightly longer. but other from that great painting skills. I've just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the fantastic work. Cheers Gary 🇬🇧.
Thanks Gary! Really appreciate the kind words, yeah definitely a learning curve! Need to slow down and take my time! Just didn’t want the video to go on to long and bore people? But will definitely post another video, hopefully without the blur and fuzzyness haha
Wow!!!!!
Talented!!
Thanks a lot 👍🏻 not sure about talented? But appreciate the kind words
Beautiful...
Thanks vince! Dioramas coming soon
Great work on the luggage, the lining of the boot door and the roof interior of the car. Hopefully we will see it in a diorama.
Thanks a lot mark! Really appreciate that! Well…between you and me…there’s something in the pipe line
I picked up some pretty cool techniques! Thanks for sharing. It looks really great! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Oh really? That’s great to know! Not used to showing people new things, so I’m glad what I’m doing is helping?
very nicely done my friend ! excellent
Thank you so much! 👍🏻
Yet again, a lovely build and nice paint job mate!
Cheers dude! Really appreciate it 👍🏻
Wow what a great job keep it up ilk be watching
Cheers Declan! Really appreciate that! Defo will 👍🏻 I’ve got a stash for years over here, just don’t tell the mrs 😂
@1/35ScaleFail I know what your saying I'm the same what can you do
I know she don't know about my stash of unboxed models, and she thinks I don't know about her stash of shoes. D..
Hahah! I know the feeling! Atleast I hide mine, the mrs is obsessed with Plants and most weeks I find a new one in a room somewhere!
I swear you were trolling us with the jute twine until you brushed it out without tearing the damn thing apart. Bravo!
😂 haha! I took a chance and it paid off! That damn glue was strong 💪🏻 lost a bit, but was probably for the best as it was way to thick! Sometimes things just work out? Haha hope you enjoyed the vid 👍🏻
What a MasterPiece of diorama!
Woah a masterpiece!? You flatter me sir! Haha thanks dude! Really appreciate the kind words!
Really liked this video. Good work on the face. Inspiring
Ahh thank you so much man! You’re too kind! Defo need to work on my camera skills 😂
Nice
Thank you 👍🏻 mediocre at best haha
@@135scalefail Better than me.
It’s all about what you take from it, my biggest thing was comparing my models to other peoples, and there’s so many better painters and modellers out there, I’m happy at the level I’m at, and I’m here to show people that it’s okay to mess things up or doing the wrong thing? At the end of the day there’s no right or wrong way of doing it, aslong as you’re happy and had fun! Hope this channel gives you the confidence you need!
@@135scalefail I enjoy building and painting, but the way I like. I like to joke with some of my builds. I have a Tiger painted metallic red, with a decal of the Virgin de Guadalupe on the side. I am going to chrome the wheels or make spinners for the wheels.
Hahha that sounds amazing! I’d love to see it? I’m not one for historical accuracy but I make sure whatever I’m building it would be in the era? If that makes sense?
Enjoyed your video and thanks for posting . I built the same diorama - more or less - last autumn with the STuG III G late production by Blitz/Takom kit and 3 figures from the Alpine range . I also used twine/hemp same as yourself but I 'untwined' the cut ones before gluing , tying a knot then using tweezers to achieve the desired effect. It is quite laborious gluing them to the base but after priming with Mr.Hobby mahogany primer the result was pleasing. I've now subscribed to your channel and look forward to your next upload .
Ah nice thanks Jurgen! Means a lot and nice!! I thought this was my best option and laborious is an understatement 😂 my neck after was throbbing! And thanks again! My next upload is abit different to a tank…and that’s all I’m saying! Haha
very nice!
Thank you man, really appreciate it ☺️
Excellent work on the vegetation...and superb tank as well! 👍
Thank you phil, really appreciate the kind words! The grass gave me neck ache for a week! 😂 totally worth it though!
