Grew up around catholic Religion and by the age of 13 1999 I wanted nothing to do with religion,I got into Skateboarding and Discovered band's like Iron maiden,judas priest,slayer,exodus,testament,black sabbath,morbid angel,Anthrax,Deicide to name a few and soon picked up the electric Guitar and started drinking not going to school never went past the 9th grade I went as far as wearing an upside down croos necklace got Tattoos of bands I idolize I've never been satanic or had interest in it but I guess it's more of making a statement against religion. I am 38 now over the last 2 years I welcomed God back into my life I have a good paying Job I go to church every Sunday and bring my 12 year old with me it has been a huge struggle for me to get back on track but I let the lord take control of my life yes I still listen to heavy metal but some songs I won't play and a lot of bands that are just to dark I won't listen to any more most the time I will have oldies or country in my play list.

I can't imagine having missed out on the 80's and the music! Sophomore year of college, my GFS and I saw Tesla and Def Leppard .. great concert.

Growing up, I listened to a lot of rock, then metal and ultimately very hard-core metal. A lot of that music just made an angry goung man even more depressed and mad. Once I became serious about the church, I stopped listening and my mood completely changed. I listen to a little bit of Power Metal now, but I stay away from a lot of rage filled metal that led me down a bad path. But I most agree with be careful and walk away when it becomes blasphemous.

I personally cannot listen to heavy metal as it takes me to a dark place. I did listen to it as a young person, but I certainly don’t want to go back to the darkness. Might be different for others?

Christ Jesus is always talking with us through His Holy Spirit, when we are sensitive to His voice and presence. This only comes about through intimacy with Christ Jesus When God gives us visions, it can be personal or for the masses. It’s our responsibility to share to the masses when He speaks on that regard and will hold us accountable for the messages He shares with us. I chose not to read this book. It is, as you imply, part of a tremendous money-making machine with too little solid data backing it up. And why run after people and phenomena that have not been church-approved? We have more than enough information and resources that actually have been approved by the church.

Absolutely it comes down to discipline and prayer. That is it.

Only way for was getting right with the lord, this lead me to repeatedly going to confession. Often confessing the recurring sin. I found my Catholic parish was pastored by unfaithful priest. I went to confession with him and found him to less then orthodox. This lead me to a retreat center that was staffed by Franciscan Priests and brothers. I saw on a sign in the chapel. It said “confession appointment by phone” , with a phone number. I called the number asked for the priest, when he came to the phone I made an appointment. This was the beginning step of supernatural grace eventually. The Catholic priest I met for confession was a very wise priest. After that confession. I was hopeful. I soon found sin to be very powerful. I now know what forgiveness was possibly. Went to confession again, this was repeated multiple times. Many months later I found I was stronger and could extend the time without committing sin, I then was intent on extended those times, slowly stretching the periods of grace, ever so slowly I felt less fascinating with the sin and began to pray often to develop the habit of prayer. This became a way of life to me,

Enjoyed your review. Thank you. I’m pretty much a DRC only Bible user now. The RSV-2CE is a direct offshoot of the KJV and still has the KJV invocation on the title page. So now the RCC endorses what is in reality a Protestant Bible. The Confraternity version which was abandoned and never completely translated for publication was the direct line of the Septuagint-Vulgate-DR-DRC-CCD which was abandoned for the NAB line which in its final inclusive iteration I believe the 2NABRE is the official Bible in the US for the Mass. I do find the KJV (and the NKJV) somewhat more poetic but I have found significant differences in the translation which leads me to believe the DRC is a more faithful rendering. There are other RCC Bible offshoots like the Jerusalem Bible etc. I find the older commentaries more reverent than the deconstructionist historical critical method used now. Again thank you.

Catholics are only obligated to believe public revelation (that which was taught by Jesus and the Apostles) as well as the teachings that come from the Magisterium of the Church. The Warning is based on private revelations. If the Church deems them to be worthy of belief, Catholics are still allowed not to believe in them and disregard them completely.

This Bible really is a work of art. I was very KJV oriented until I started comparing it to Doauy-Rheims. There's a similarly evocative language, but never feels like the pursuit of beauty obfuscates the clarity of Scripture. There's also the aspect of many translations with commentary being too focused on historical context, and forgetting the divine revelation aspect altogether. I most definitely sympathize with the need to go back to that tradition.

I have sooooo many many Catholic books that I've been buying and collecting for months. I do have this one too. Just haven't had the chance to start reading any of them. I've read a few of them in the past. Just procrastinating lately on reading them. I NEED to start reading them now. Just not sure which one to start with. For awhile I would sometimes start reading one and then start reading another but then I just stop.

I am an old simple catholic woman. See the corruption. Know history has its corruption . However, The church itself. Its teaching. What a gift. I do not have to be a scholar I have watched my parents. I have learned of my grandparents. And their parents. Holiness. Sacrafice. Love of Christ. All this stuff from MG. He is not the authority. Somewhere, some how. He has a bone to pick. The good thing about persons like MG. It does call us to learn to defend.

Our family Bible from the 1950s is exactly the one you have shown! I remember looking at the beautiful artwork before I could read! I still have that Bible and treasure it! I plan to read it cover to cover for the first time after I finish with Fr. Mike's Bible in a Year. Vivat Jesus!
