How does the circling of the 2nd line tell us it's a G??? It just does I guess 🤷♂️
Actually, that’s pretty much correct! It’s a little arbitrary: kind of like, “it is the way it is because that’s the way it is”
@eliasberezin fair enough. It made my brain hurt though 😆 Do the lines represent chords or something? Like if the circle was on the 3rd line what does that mean? Are the lines universal? What do they even represent? I'm actually more confused now 😆

The tempo in the first section is what I think of as "cathedral tempo". When you are singing in a space with a six second reverberation time, fast movement just turns into mush. Sometimes, you need to slow it down. Occasional ornament can come through, but the space has a real effect on some pieces.
Great point you bring up regarding the idea of cathedral tempo. You're right that the first tempo probably wouldn't work in a huge space, but in small-to-moderate ones should be ok (though still on the fast side). The tempo-change mid-piece is DEFINITELY "wrong," but I have to say I'm enjoying experimenting with those kinds of deliberate stylistic don'ts just to see how they work! Thanks for checking it out!
