So what happens when the elite or adventure pass get dwarfed by a new pass that gives 365 days out of booking?

Your Country Coach looks beautiful, Dave! A little over 5 years ago, we retired and bought a 1999 National Tropical gasser. We have been living it FT since and loving every minute. It was the best decision we ever made. It was a one owner coach in great shape with extensive maintenance records and only 28k miles on the odometer. It sold for over $100k new in 1999, but we got it for only $15k! It's great being debt free, isn't it? Not only did the original owner pay for all the depreciation, but they handled all the warranty issues, so when we got it, all the little bugs and issues had been taken care of long ago. We have been traveling around the country with it and it has been very reliable. In fact, it hasn't seen the inside of the shop since we bought it, as we maintain it ourselves. Sure, as you use any RV things will break and wear out over the years. For instance, we repaired our steps (for very little money, replacing some worn out plastic parts with metal ones) and our slide out motor (all it took was some JB weld to repair a cracked transmission housing, making it stronger than when it came from the factory when we were done.) And of course, components in appliances like furnace blowers, water heater burners and A/C units eventually wear out and must be either repaired or replaced. This is true in relatively new units, let alone one that is over 20 yrs. old. But because we have no monthly note and our insurance is super cheap on an older rig, we have plenty money in the bank to replace things, when they wear out without having it impact our lifestyle. Counterintuitively, an older Class A with good bones is often much cheaper to own and operate than a brand new one is, which may look pretty on the outside, but underneath the shiny facade it may not as well made structurally - as evidenced by all the cracked frames we have been hearing about recently. We discovered we love to boondock, living virtually for free in some of the most beautiful places imaginable on Forest Service and BLM land. We sure wouldn't want to bring a brand-new rig down muddy, rutted Forest Service roads, across fields, sand washes and such like we do our rugged, older home. We installed a giant solar system on her and haven't plugged into a power pedestal at an RV park in a year and a half, as we can run everything in our coach, including our A/C units powered strictly by the sun. We can even run our EG-4 mini split heat pump 24/7 if needed. Over 5,000 watts of solar, 23.5kwh of batteries onboard lets us do so. We designed and built it ourselves, saving quite a bit of money, but still, a system of this size doesn't come cheap - at around $11,500 including the $1,500 heat pump. The reason we could afford a big solar/battery system like this on our meager retirement income is all the money we saved boondocking with our older coach. Not only do we save lots of money living this lifestyle, but it gives us more flexibility, opening up more places and seasons where we can comfortably stay too. Life is good.

I loved RVing in my youth, but now retired at 67 I finally have the opportunity to enjoy my home. Another reason i wouldn’t RV full time are my 2 grandkids who are my prized possessions! My heart would break as I would miss them tremendously. I do admire you both for living out your dream and I wish you many happy healthy years on your trails and travels. RV living does require a lot of adjustments, major and minor and I consider this a minor one but still an annoyance for you guys to not have a usable washer/dryer. So glad Dave figured it all out and in the end, was pretty simple. I love your homemade vent gadget, very innovative lol. I own this chair and it’s great. Only issue I have is it’s a beast to bring somewhere. It’s big when folded up.

I have been in Pennsylvania on many trips, but the most memorable was awaking early on a Sunday morning in Lancaster. I drove into the Amish country just to ramble around. It was close to time for the Amish to gather for the home church meetings. All the people were walking and going in different directions. Somewhere carrying food, some pushing an older person in a wheelchair, and some pulling children in small wagons. This is a wonderful part of the USA!

So I’m sitting here enjoying your video and a couple of cold ones and it occurred to me that I’ve shot thousands of screws into all sorts of surfaces over my lifetime and I’ve never seen anybody explain the reverse to straighten up hack before. I just thought I was the only one doing that…lol My new nickname for Dave will be Professor from now on because he had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I love hearing all about your adventures and being spontaneous! Living on the road has lots of perks, and of course maybe a few drawbacks but you folks make me want to be a full time RVer!! My career as a flight attendant allowed me to travel extensively, but my precious husband has no desire to travel now(we’re both retired), which is fine with me. As long as we’re together, I’m good with that, just as you guys seem to be. God bless you both and stay safe! PS ~ love the camping story about Hazel, quite a lady!

Wow, it looks like a lot of upgrades sense this park became part of Thousand Trails. I love my Thousand Trails membership and plan on using it exclusively when I set out on my full time journey whenever possible.

Hello Dave and Donna, we camp in Broken sutras in PA. They are the lowest price in our area. The camp grounds have very few week end sites most of them are permanently parked. I would love to be a full time RVer. My husband would not. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓

Newmar BayStar 2023 - full wall slides - owners manual specifically states to put slides out BEFORE leveling. Factory also confirmed this.
