The only thing that I would of done different from my experience of doing these railings is used a pressure treated hand railing cap. You can pick these hand railings up at Home Depot for less than $10.00. They come in a 2 " X 4" X 6' run. Otherwise when you use a regular piece of lumber its usually too wide for gripping and violates code. By using the Home Depot railing it should keep the building Inspectors happy and make the railing safe by allowing folks the ability to grip the railing.Overall I think you did an awesome job with the railing! Glad to see you took your time and thought out every step! Remember Haste makes waste! Good job Sir!

I'll be checking my brakes tomorrow...working on overhauling a 170 that's been sitting up for some years.

those old kaw air cooled singles are nearly bulletproof . seem to last forever . i have several , and love them . jd used them on several different mower models . the 180 was made 1986 thru 1990 .

i have the same tractor it is 46 years old mine is like new and it is still blowing snow in winter and doing odd jobs in the summer got it new now i got a 2005 lt180 to mow the lawn

I purchased the same kit for a customer. He is though missing the rubber hose that goes into the carburetor that covers the adjustment screws. I agree with the previous comments about making some adjustments. Maybe you could have mentioned that the choke is built within the air filter and shown where it made contact...just a thought

The screws help adjust the fuel flow. It was bogging at the end because 1. You had the chain lock on, so it could rev up with the influx of gas, or 2 the screws needed adjustment. There is plenty of videos on how to do so. I would also recommend to swap the bottom vent hole for the one on your old carb. There shouldn’t be, but unfiltered, unrestricted air may be entering your saw. I would also recommend wiping the old gasket with isopropyl alcohol , and the new carb back. Just to make sure everything seals properly.

I started my last post on the second step and put it inside the stringer. This allowed me to set a post base in the concrete, two 1/2" carriage bolts through the stringer, and two 3/8 ledger locks through blocking between the stringers and keep the full 4x4. I think you would break the post before you ever got it to come loose. My first time building too, railings were a challenge, and working alone clamps were my helper. Amazing how many people forget about them.

It must have been Little Wonder buying out Bannerman blowers. Thats a Bannerman blower with a Little Wonder handle. The Bannerman handles are just a bent piece of pipe. Your missing the square plate on the front that allows for the (heavy as hell) impeller to come out. Then theres the circular safety grate. I had the Bannerman fall out of the back of the truck once, but that must have bent the crank slightly. I never run a front wheel on it as I like it to remain in place while I sweep (asphalt) in front of it. However, ever since it fell out of the truck it would vibrate and do circles. In certain situations I would let it go and watch it spin cleaning the entire area while I stood back amused. Then one day due to the years of perpetual vibration, the crank finally fractured and the impeller let loose. Boy, theres a reason that housing is so heavy. I still have two 8 horse Bannerman. One fitted with a 13 hp Honda and the other a 9 hp Honda. The modern Little Wonders have a much lighter impeller allowing them to have a much lighter housing making the entire unit lighter and more efficient than the old Bannerman design. I have a 9 hp and a 13 hp Little Wonders, but the housings are identical, just the motor size. I really have not compared which one works the best, but if they both spin at the same rmp, I would get the people that paid that much more for the 13 hp got ripped off. The most interesting blower I ever came across was the fully aluminum Peco. The impeller is like 2 canoe ores and when bolted together squeeze the engine's crank shaft. It had a 4 hp Briggs, but I eventually put an older 5 hp Honda that would run full rpm the instant it started. It ran like that for years. You got to love Honda. Hasnt run in a decade, so maybe I'll toss a GX160 on it with a working throttle control? Thing is light as a feather. I also have an aluminum balanced, high RPM hovercraft fan I have been threatening for years to make into the mother of all blowers. That however is my Jacobsen B-40 that hooks onto a farm tractor. Another pipe dream that is just rusting in the uncut grass.

I had this idea of the holes in the railings but thought of some negatives to doing so. They don't seem very strong, the railings seem weaker, the balusters will corrode from the chemicals in the treated lumber.....
