What CEO is not going to take a call or meet up with a wealthy Mangione running a successful and profitable healthcare business. So, Luigi Mangione had been in contact with Thompson, acting under false pretenses. Called him that morning and gave him some bullshit reason to meet him outside the Hilton. Then popped him. So here's an example of how this social engineering could have went. The Mangione's clearly know Brian Thompson. They're in the business. Luigi probably had Brian's cell number. Luigi calls Brian sometime before the 4th. Luigi calls: Hi. Mr. Thompson? This is Luigi Mangione, Luois Mangione's kid. Thompson: Ah, yes, Luigi, how's your dad doing? How's business? Luigi: Dad is good. Business is doing great. Thompson: So, have you finished up school? Luigi: Yes, I graduated a couple years ago and I have been working as a programmer. That's actually the reason for my call. I've been working on a program that I think can save you a lot of time and money in your billing process. Thompson: Really. I'd love to hear more about it. Luigi: Well, I'll be in NY this week visiting friends and I understand you have a conference here this week. I'd live to meet up with you to tell you more about it. Where are you staying? Can we meet there or at the conference? Thompson: How about we meet before the conference on Wednesdsy, it's at the Hilton Mid-town and the conference starts at 8. Luigi: Great, I'll call you when I get to the Hilton, is 6:45 too early? Thompson: No, that time works for me. Call me and I'll come outside the hotel to meet you. Luigi: Thanks Mr. Thompson, see you then. I'm so excited to show you what I have for you.

Honestly, I'm suspicious that the police found the weapon, fake IDs and manifesto in backpack they found in the park and just pinned it on him when they tracked him down. Wouldn't it have made sense to leave the manifesto in the backpack full of Monopoly money that seems to have been left intentionally to be found by the police, and why would someone hold on to weapon and fake documents used in a crime when they weren't needed anymore? After all if he is the killer, and likely is, he couldn't refute the police for planting it on them by saying "no you planted that on me! I left that in central park!" without telling on himself, could he? If the police came to talk to him, as far as we know, I don't think they would have had enough to make an arrest. Think about it.

So true! The very first time I was hired as a full-time employee in a hospital, it didn’t take long for me to figure these things out. However, it was a struggle to try to communicate these insights to my fellow workers. The tension among us was always so high-we treated each other as if we were responsible for one another’s struggles. Snitching on each other for favors, etc, from management and on and on. What a shame. But the good news is that more and more people are coming to the realization that we are not each other’s enemies at the workplace. Instead, we are working together in solidarity to uplift our collective needs. Peasants unite! 😂😮
