What's the list of things to do?

A lot of my decor has been handed down to me, some has been thrifted, and some has been purchased. But I think my favorite pieces are two hand carved ornaments my great Uncle Scott made! Theyre over 30 years old now and still so so beautiful.

We had two weeks without power.

I took the master naturalist classes and loved them. I learned so much and met so many cool people who are still in my life-and happily so. :).

This could very well happen again, and instead of days, it could stay off for months. Consider yourself lucky you had what you needed to make it through this. Use it to prepare yourself for next time and run the scenarios through your head. How much food do you have? Do you have ANYTHING to use if other less fortunate and desperate people start breaking into your home to either hurt you or steal your stuff? People will do anything for their families, at the expense of your safety and well-being. Reality doesn't care if you're prepared. If you aren't, you'll be a statistic. If you are, it will be well with you. Take care and get ready.

I've collected ornaments over the years when I'd go explore with friends or family; however, I want to get into shopping seasonal decorations secondhand more often and this time find them "early". I'll be on a search this January when people get rid of things. I keep forgetting and go to the shops too late, like a couple of months before the holidays. Most of the good finds are taken by then. 😂 Hahaha, Madison! Scaring people is so funny 😂

Hi! Y'all might not see this but in the chance that you do, I'm graduating with an undergrad in environmental science and i was wondering if you or Madison had any tips on getting a local Texas job with the degree! Working remote or in person. I live in Dallas :)

I have always loved the look of handmade decorations. I don't have any Christmas decorations from my childhood. I grew up in a not so good environment and don't have any contact with my mom. And my dad was never really in my life. I have no clue if she even has any Christmas stuff left from my childhood. So, as an adult with children, our family started our own traditions to pass down. We don't do Christmas until after 12/9. My oldest daughters birthday is December 9th, and when she was younger, she asked if we could wait until after her birthday. This way, it keeps the two special but separate.

i thrifted some really good vintage glass ornaments, and made some garland, then passed down decorations. i also use pinecones that my family has collected hahah heirloom pinecones

My 2 favorite ornaments I have are hand painted wood slice ornaments from an old world christmas market I went to last week. The other christmas piece I cherish the most is a wooden shelf tree with bubble light candles that my grandpa made before he passed. A couple other family members have one from him also, so each year we share how we decorated ours.

madison's hair looks so good! and a lot of my holiday decor is either passed down from my mom or bought secondhand. i get so excited to pull out the same decorations i remember from childhood!

Our decor is a mix of things. We are trying to grow a tree, it's in a pot and we bring it in each year and it's grown a bit more, last one we couldn't keep alive after the third year so we are trying one more this year. If this one dies I'll thrift a full size tree. Then each year I get an ornament for one person in our life, some high quality boutique, some home made, some custom local businesses, and then I'm making a tradition to make one each year with my daughter as this is her first Christmas. All our lights are second hand. Some I took from a store I worked at (them sent us new ones every year so the old ones just got binned if we didn't take them) Our outdoor lights were from friends who were moving country. Reuseable advent calender. Haven't got stockings but I'm thinking about getting some custom made next year as I know in my head what I want and I haven't found them anywhere. We have a wreath for the door, star for the tree, she's a couple strings of beads from a big box store I'll keep using till they're in bits then get something better.

My husband and I recently bought our first house and it’s been an overwhelming process turning this house into a home so I love watching your process!

The only Christmas decor I have is a little branch of natural holly I got from Uber the holly tree at my neighborhood Park. I don't usually decorate for this holiday but red and green are my colors all year lol

I never decorate for Christmas or listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving, that's what my family has always done and I like all the seasons and holidays to have their own time devoted to them. 🌲

I have decorations from my grandparents, my parents, selfmade and secondhand. We make something new every year and each of us can choose one 'new' item every year (it's usually secondhand) We looove Christmas and are so excited to grow our collection.

Yay, so lovely to see you guys back :) I have a few Christmas decorations but rarely put them up. They were all either gifts or charity shop buys - the only thing I bought new was lights as wanted to make sure they were electrically safe.

I live in a city with a large amount of places to shop, especially in downtown in the holidays the streets get full. The thing that solidified my distaste for the holidays was when my sister worked at a huge department store on Black Friday. She worked in the back of the store but she spent almost her ENTIRE shift on the floor. Mind you this was like around 2015. The shoe department didn't have an actual pair in sight. I avoid everything during the holidays

Boiling corks can make them easier to cut so I'd imagine that it might make them easier to get a needle through as well. It makes them less brittle as well which helps if you are having issues with any of them crumbling.

Most of my holiday decor is from my grandma. I got her decorations when we went into assisted living, and I have so many vintage nut crackers and a cute ginger bread house cookie jar. 🥰🎄

Aaahhhh so excited to see y’all back. I’ve decorated my door with a handmade wreath from a local farmer and they gave me some leftover branches so I stuck them in a pot on top of my bookcase ad threw on my soft white led lights. The farmer also made some little reindeer from leftover wood and branches so I have one by the “tree” 😅 it’s just me here so it’s not grand but it makes me smile every time I pass it by!

As someone that is religious/ spiritual, the thing that really really bothers me about Christmas is that Jesus (and other religious figure heads ) preached about not really valuing material items--where did this go so so wrong?

Chalk Markers for windows!!! Most of my holiday decor is a mix of upcycle from the goodwill bins / ordaments friends have gotten me but I also ordered some blue spruce tree seeds this year and have been growing my own little trees (in addition to a fake tree my husband and I have) and then once they are ready to be planted we will put them in the ground in spring! My family has been loving my little “grow your own christmas tree” kits Ive been making them

My absolute favorite decoration is a Christmas village that my grandmother made (painted and fired) from the 80s. I love it so much.

When I moved in with my partner 8 years ago every year we get 1-3 small ornaments , we have a small 12” wood tree . We live in nyc and every year we go to the Bryant park winter market and there is this small business that makes hand made ornaments out of tagua which is a white nut often referred to vegetable ivory . They carve it into different figure . This year we got a humming bird and a lamb . We also get some tiny glass ornaments. I’ve been looking for wool figures but it’s hard to find them second hand that I like . I personally don’t like anything too colorful . We are in no rush to fill our apartment with anything we try to buy only things we really love .
