I am more new to aerials, but after watching this video I see where you are coming from. It feels way easier to control the ball then when I am full speed ahead. Great video and keep it up!
Bronthat first clip, although sick is not something that should be in the video lol
I never really thought about this aspect of the game, fantastic advice for controller players. However its important to note that if you are on KBM, this advice is null, as there is no acceleration button -only a forward button. Great video!
2 mins in and I already accelerate while doing the mechs I thought it was normal 😂
I noticed, especially at the end, that the aerial while holding accelerate looks a lot like my aerial plays, where the ball kind of gets away from you and its harder to control. unfortunately I made it muscle memory to always hold accelerate, so I've been handicapping myself in a sense. I will practice this, thanks booma!
I thought I understood, but when I went into freeplay, my accelerate also flips my car. Do I unbound it somehow that makes it where I only drive without flipping?
the tuto i didnt know i needed
I'm a very casual player, have literally played games 3 times in the last almost 2 years. But I like to go into freeplay and knock the ball around to kill 5 minutes pretty often. I really have no idea why you popped up in my feed (Or why I decided to click). However! I have been trying to figure out flip resets on my own. Started to get them more consistently, but a solid chunk of time, I'm absolutely limp hitting/flicking when trying to use it instantly. First attempt of not accelerating, suddenly my touch/reset flew like it's supposed to. Feel stupid for not realizing that of course getting the reset is like hitting the ground and therefore holding the accelerator is affecting the "flick". Not gonna make me an instantly better player, but at least I know why some of my touches that otherwise should have been alright didn't act like I thought they would. Thanks!
I don’t think accelerating while boosting in the air will get you to the ball faster. I’m pretty sure Leth or Wayton proved it didn’t make a difference
Thanks to you i understand now that accelerating everytime maybe it's bad for all the things i want to do in a match. Now i have to think how i suppose to fix that, cause i play in kbm and w its accelerating always when i press it, even for the aerials. But thanks, you explain it so well i want to subscribe
@@nahn6044 appreciate the kind words, glad it helped homie! Thank you for watching
Please don’t ever stop doing these
@@MoNoXiDe I’ll try my best!
Your mechanics in the air look so seamless
@@Bazlaa96 tbf I’ve been playing for around 11,500 hours haha I don’t really have to think about mostly any mechanics when I play the game now so when I compete it’s just about decision making
Ohhhh. So THAT'S why? Damn, I must give this a shot.
My directional air roll right is on my accelerate and my air roll left is on reverse and I have them on the triggers so that I have dynamic air roll with a freed up joystick, and I don't have free air roll so how can this affect my speed and is this worth a keybind change
@@schmaffew2343 I’m unsure
I’ve been playing for so long with holding accelerate in the air that trying not to messes me up now, and flip resets have always been my weakest mechanic and this is exactly why. Recently I was looking up Dark’s control settings while also around the same time watched a video that mentioned hitting reverse as you make contact with the ball and how that can help with flip resets. Low and behold, dark, someone who has insane mechanics, actually has his air roll and reverse on the same button which means he’s essentially always hitting reverse as he lands a reset which is why they’re likely so clean. I’ve been implementing this and it’s helped a ton, and it’s a lot easier for me than trying to not hold accelerate while airialing.
This is an interesting story but mechanics are not so simple that this one fix changes everything, maybe because of inefficiencies in your setups they can be covered up by that addition. Dark has his air roll on reverse because of dynamic air roll, that is the only reason. Its so that he can choose to air roll slowly or fast based on how far he presses the trigger into the controller. This means air roll is no longer all or nothing its a scale of rotational acceleration. which is also why dark has a lower aerial sensitivity. because higher aerial sense makes dynamic not dynamic and having it on ur triggers but having a high aerial sense means you just have the same air roll as if you bounded it to any button by how aerial sense works. That is the reason he uses it, not the reason u used when wanting to learn flip resets. It gives you infinitely more options in the air but at a cost because you have to have the car control to back it up. The way most people implement dynamic if you arnt high GC or SSL atleast or some sort of smurf GC2 that freestyles on bronzes cuz their car control is too bad to score against better players. These players dont even use the benefits of dynamic because people don't have the car control in general to make use of it. unlike zen and dark who do have the control to do these things.
will i need this as a gold 1?
@AmirTimori-jx7se most likely not you’re still learning the basics of the game!
Bro casually did a triple reset like nothing
I'm curious if lag had a crazy big issue... I've noticed sometimes my car feels like it spins faster... Or just the ball can get closer to my car before it's "hit away" sometimes my car feels super sluggish. Than within that same 3 minutes it randomly be crazy quick good and my car can keep up with a ball after i hit it. Compared to it going farther than I originally thought
Ur game looks different. Like smoother.... Or idk hard to explain.
New sub, Nice vid man keep it up <3
If this is true, i'm kinda happy cause now i have different control options in the air. But i feel like if i go into freeplay now and test it, it's gonna be placebo. How do i figure out if its actually affecting. Ik it does for flip resets but for air dribbles and aerials, it's a little more difficult. If anyone gets progress or sees a change, please inform me in the comments. Also Thanks for the video Booma!
I remember Daniel saying once that he fashioned his playstyle around Sypical, patient but mechanical third. In a way, I am trying to play more like that where I can be patient for my team, but also I can speed up the play after the save for a counterattack. In a way, that only works when you are in that spot as third. What I am also working on would be my awareness and ability to commit to a cut and force for my team. I tend to lean back into that old habit of just "rotating back and behind my team" when I should actually go for earlier outplays or forcing the issue for my teammates behind. Really good analysis, use of the drawing tool and explaining the fact that the mistakes that happen are usually after a chain of events that led to the mistake and possibly conceding the goal. Keep up the great work!
So what if i have air roll left bound to L2 (ps5 controller. So it's the same as driving backwards. Does it act like not hitting the accelerate?, what if i stop accelerating and just decelerate, will it be even slower? I guess I gotta be aware of this and will be now thanks to this video. ❤
Watched this last night and had to go through my youtube history to come back to tell you this helped me a lot. Thank you :)
Yes this was one ‘key moves’ to realize. Also I found when I use boost and when not to, matters with certain mechanics.
Booma fantastic video I only just hit a little over 1k hrs and i never even knew that acceleration actually moves your car forward in the air! Great vid. Glad i sub'd a while ago and seen this video today. Thanks for your content! Keep up the great work.
istg if you keep on talking casually while doing a double reset
@@Teakbumblbee what bro? I just have a ton of hours in the game that isn’t something I have to think about anymore 😂 don’t make me spam quads next video while I talk ☠️
Yo thank you. I never even noticed how much I hold the accelerator. This makes total sense why the ball always runs away from me. Appreciate you man
This is something I’ve been doing subconsciously for a while now.
if you turn off the gravity in the game you can see this work with reverse and acceleration especially if you increase the game speed rocket science has a vid on it
your a very smart person and you know what you are doing but the reason you are not blowing up is because your videos aren't entertaining enough, just some constructive criticism love the vids ive learned a lot

Nah this vid actually help im currently 1512 mmr rn and was wondering why my touches are so bad because i was holding acc some time. So mixing it helps and i didn’t know also thats how you fast aerial properly.
This actually helped me LMAOO
Finally someone addresses it. Don't forget about reverse.
WOW
Welp lost me at the start cuz im kbm 😂

Im gc3 and a freestyler and never thought about the acceleration in the air that makes sense lmao
Do you play claw because you boost with circle?
@@Mooiboy0410r I do. Don’t recommend it, I never intentionally learned it just how I learned to hold a Nintendo 64 controller when I was a toddler. Does more harm than good I plan on learning to play normally soon

Thank you so much for this literal gem of advice!
Can someone save the carpel tunnel and arthritis & tell me when youre going for the ball in the air do you need to be tapping the jump button the entire time or just to double jump fast ?? Do you need to keep tapping your jump button ?
Absolutely not. You can only ever jump twice. You definitely DO NOT need to be spamming jump in the air.
Bro, your teaching/coaching style is perfect here. I think what many RUclipsrs (spookluke 👀) do is they try and put all of the information into one video with loads of tips. This is perfect, you outline a problem, describe it, help with how to understand and perform it, and then show examples of in-game scenarios. Every one of these coaching videos seems progressive, like every video I watch I’m slowly learning these tips, rather than you just shoving tips in my face without explaining them. I love these videos and they are so helpful man. I think you’re gonna go far bro much love to u man ❤❤
@@xdExcel appreciate the kind words, yeah I just wanna help players since I was there before in my own career ya know but glad it helps!
@joshbooma it helps so much. You outline the problems and explain them really well man. Quality over quantity ya know
@ haha thanks for watching homie really appreciate the kind words🔥

I saw a video like 6 months ago of AppJack talking about if people tap break on the reset. I wonder if the principle os the same? like holding break in certain aerials gives you a slower approach
you really let me embrace the new skilli could learn for game sense to make this control valuable to you more so you can play consistent is very wise, thankyou
Dude i NEVER ever thought about this, and I checked my replays and I have always been holding acceleration in the air. I have also been struggling with scoring flip reset shots. I went into training making this adjustment and i feel that i have way more control in the air. Bless the youtube algorithm for recommending this. Subscribed
dude same I was literally wondering yesterday if that made a difference and this video pops up lol
oh shit yeah this is what I need. I'm already a demo fiend this gonna take me to demo demon.
Just thought of this and I don’t know whether it’s true or not but does holding drive or power slide when getting a flip reset mean your car would slide under the ball or drive slightly under the ball putting your car in a bad spot for the reset?
That's precisely what this video is about.
yes and also reversing when you get under the ball sort of sticks you to it for a sceond and lets you get better control, especially helpful for chain resets
recovering from air without boost, always holding the gas to fall faster lol
