Also, having the guitar on the left leg, with a foot rest, is how most people here play a classical (nylon string) guitar. It gives a much more relaxed position on my left hand, which makes it easier to practice a good hand position and finger placement.

I think the most important feature of a guitar is the sound. I started on my father’s old acoustic guitar. Technically, the neck was too wide and to thick for my hands, but every single note was a revelation with the clear sound and lasting overtones. And that really helped with keeping up with the finger exercises. Also the nylon strings cut less into the fingertips. Next came an electric guitar, which made things much easier with the thinner and narrower neck. It gave me a chance to practice barré-chords and practice late at night, without an amp. The jumbo western I got next, sounded great and the neck was fine, but because it’s so big, I always had a bruised chest bone. (Yeah, I’m petite). Nobody ever warned me about that! So I think it’s best to try to get your hands on as many different guitars as possible, borrow from friends and family so you can really get a feel of the instrument and get to know both different types of guitar shapes and your individual physiques needs.

It's ELECTRIC. Plug it in! Use a flanger and a delay pedal.

Having accidentally stepped on mine and smashing it, it's definitely cardboard. I got a real cigar box and replaced the cardboard one, sounds so much better and looks cooler, the little piezo pickup just glues on the inside, updated the bridge with a little piece of square wood, which also seemed to improve the sound, remember to drill the holes in the front. Fun little instrument to play around on.

Hi, I have an identical super-mini to yours, and I bought mine in 1975. I am still using it. Do you know that you can store the key in the small hole on the face? You also are supposed to put the weight down to 120 for storage, to avoid warping the pendulum. Mine is so well used that the face plate is all scratched and hard to read, but it still works well.

These are great! If it doesn’t sound good - it’s up to you to MAKE it sound good! 😊 I dressed mine up with brass edge protectors, a leather ukulele strap, and painted the inside brown so it doesn’t look like paper. I love mine!
