      Oh no! What material was it? I work with the same type of fabric a lot, so I haven’t had any issues, but my understanding is that it is designed more for specific types of fabric than others. Maybe that contributed. But I’m sorry to hear that. What a bummer!

      @@ByTinymite I think it was cotton knit fabric ( not sure 🙈 local vendors usually have different names and I'm bad at recognising knitted fabrics) it has really low stretch and not so smooth surface so I thought it should have held on better 🥲 just my luck What fabric do you usually use it with? (I should bring back that tape from the bottom of my storage box and experiment with other fabrics I might find a right match for it too 😄 it would save lots of time ! )

    • @ByTinymite
      @ByTinymite Месяц назад

      @prajakta8280 experimenting is a good idea! I use quilting cotton 99% of the time. I like the stiffer texture for the things I make. If you used a knit fabric, that could have contributed. I don’t think it is supposed to, but I could see it. It’s harder to do anything with knits in my opinion lol.

    PPE is a GOOD thing! I have a pair of leather gloves near my iron for when I am ironing. Often, I only need to wear the right-hand glove to hold the iron. With my iron being kept over a fire between uses, it can easily become VERY HOT!!!!! Yes, I have burnt my hand on a VERY HOT iron before. It is not always too hot to touch, but, I have adopted a policy of ALWAYS handling it with a glove at all time, so that I do NOT scream about it being 'TOO ********** HOT!!!!' Also hand sewing: I do a fair amount of hand sewing. Basically, if it is not a straight stitch, it will be hand sewn.

    I spent weeks deciding. going back and forth. Eventually I used Microsoft Copilot AI and put in all the specifications I wanted, the price range i was comfortable with, the accessories that were must haves. Especially a walking foot, which is like 60 dollars on its own. The list kept getting narrower and narrower, and finally I decided on the Brother CS7000x. I think it'll be perfect. And 230 is such a reasonable price for all that it comes with. It said it's for beginners, but i think it can do nearly anything. I may not even need to buy a serger down the road. It comes with everything i need for any kind of project i might want to do. (except a rolled hem foot, which is really inexpensive and i could get one down the road if i want. )

    I totally agree!! I spend a lot more time cutting out my patterns than sewing. By the time I'm done, I don't even want to sew! Worse, when I walk away from a project for weeks because I'm overwhelmed by the cutting, I get inspired for another project and rinse and repeat. I have more cut-out projects than completed ones. Eventually I'll learn to love the process!

    • @ByTinymite

    For those with MCS or are sensitive to smells, be aware that Fray Check has a LINGERING CHEMICAL SMELL. I used to use it all the time, so I went back to it when I recently started sewing again and wanted to make myself a purse using outdoor fabric, which frays a LOT. For days after the project was finished, the Fray Check smell was strong. My chemical sensitivities weren't as prevalent as they are now, which is probably why it didn't bother me before (or else they've changed the formula). At any rate, Fray Block works much better for me and does not leave that lingering chemical smell.

    • @ByTinymite

      That doesn’t surprise me. If you have one, then it is probably easier to use it for that instead of the overlock setting. However, as I do not have a serger, the overlock setting works really great for me. :)

      Oh I’m so glad now you know 😃 I’m sure that will be helpful. I have a few ideas about this L-shaped thing, but it’s hard to know without seeing it. Is it a maybe a seam jumper? Or maybe a seam guide? Or is it an actual preset foot? I’m so curious!

      @ByTinymite 4 месяца назад

      @singmysong1167 Interesting. I have no idea what that is. I don’t have a Janome either, so mine aren’t labeled like that. Finding a manual sounds like the best idea. Good luck! Let me know if you find out. 😃

      @vincentlevarrick6557 Месяц назад

      @@singmysong1167 Don't know if you got your answer yet, but I bet it's the same with my Janome. It's an attachment for quilting. You slide the long end in behind the A foot on the actual shank of the sewing machine (the stick bit that holds the needle and presser foot). There's a screw on the shank to secure it. (Double check with the manual) The short part of the L then lines up on your fabric. You use it to sew repeated parallel lines - the L sits 'in the ditch' created by the previous line. :) Obviously it has uses beyond quilting. I used it to keep lines of shirring parallel, and I've also used it when I needed a line 5 cm in from the edge of my fabric, but I didn't want to roll up the edge of the fabric just to see the seam guide on the needle plate.

    Fray Check will wash out. In some fabrics it will wash out after a few washings. In others it will last a little longer. It must be reapplied. I have found pinking an edge does not stop fraying. It may slow it. I did not know this but a pinked edge will let the fabric go around a corner like bias cut fabric. I appreciate your info. .
