Hello, and welcome to my channel! My name is Ashley Stuart!
I have a bachelors degree in Biochemistry and I am now adding on more schooling with taking a program that will enable me to become a registered pharmacy technician. My videos now focus on this journey. I have shared my experience with both idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and migraines over the past many years. My IIH is now in remission. Living with migraines and IIH is a roller coaster and my goal is to provide a place that we can come together and help others understand what living with chronic headache disorders is like. I also want to provide a place that people can come to find a community since I know I felt very lonely when I was first diagnosed with IIH in 2018. I also spend time talking about awakening, meditation, life being gluten free and so much more.
I really hope that you can find something that you like and can relate to. Now let's take this journey together!

The Difference Between Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians | Ashley Stuart
I get asked this question by so many people and these terms are not similar. I use this week to go through some of the major differences as to what I can do now at work and what becoming a registered technician will allow me to do once I have completed all of my training. I hope this helps.

Hallo ma'am i have a question. I have a master degree in biochemistry, do i need a specific certification or degree to work as a pharmacy assistant in canada or the USA ?
For an assistant in Canada, no! I’m not in the U.S. so I don’t know about the U.S. As far as I know, most places will train you but as is normal, having experience will always help. Just make sure that if you’re looking about moving to either country that you look into the requirements needed to move to either country to work. Canada and the U.S. are two very different places and have different requirements. Also the term pharmacy assistant really doesn’t exist in the U.S. too from what I understand but again, I can’t answer most questions about the U.S. since I don’t know much about their system there.
Looking at screen doesn’t trigger a migraine for you?
It can sometimes but I try to keep the screen brightness down as much as possible and use dark mode wherever it’s available. It’s been a bit of a challenge for sure but I do think I am getting used to it now.
@@AshleyStuart how long did you have IIH symptoms before diagnosed
@@SPOOKY_GOON About 7-8 months.
Hi Ashley ! Hope you are doing good !Did your iih go away ?
Thank you! Yes! Well, sort of! It’s in remission! It’s as close to going away as it can get being in remission.
How did they diagnose you though? what exactly did they do? was it with contrast? I don’t tolerate contrast. MRI was normal. OCT came back normal too
Nope, no contrast! There were particular signs on the MRI. Ex) partial empty sella syndrome. My optic nerves were looked at and they were swollen. The spinal tap confirmed a high opening pressure with no other reasons for elevated pressure.
Your wisdom a sweet spirt is refreshing ❤
Hello I am from india I m diagnosed with iih and had lumbar puncture also to test the csf pressure, i also have pulsating sound ony left ear from 3 years, i am 23 , please help me with any remedy.
Sorry, I can’t give medical advice, but hoping you find the right help soon.
@@AshleyStuart thank you❤ I just want to ask you that now you are fine now you don't have pulsatile tinnitus??
@@rajnigoyal5532 Yup but my IIH is in remission which I attained through weight loss. Not everyone is as fortunate as I am. I still deal with migraines too though but I haven’t had this symptom since.
If u plz what about ringing in ear u still have it and how u sleep with it @@AshleyStuart
Exactly how i feel right now for whole month. Hurricane season and living in Florida
I completely agree. I’ve learned this the hard way. You have done a great job of explaining this. Thank you!
I was diagnosed in 2001 at 11 with Cerebral pseudotumor. Im 35 now. I have Lupus, severe anemia, pyroderma gangrenosum, and IGA deficiency. People hear me say pyroderma gangrenosum and immediately say, "OMG YOU HAVE GANGRENE?!?!" 🤦♀️No i didnt say that... 😅Unfortunately all these things kind of feed off of each other and once one of my dominos get knocked down it snowballs. I wish there were more compassion and empathy in the medical field and the general public.
Absolutely! Mine often snowballs too. And you’ve been through so much. Handling all of that must be absolutely exhausting.
Thinking of you !!
Yes, thank you!!! I dread the question each time my Dr asks..."how long have you had this migraine?" I really want to say, "You've known me for 10 years, don't I say EVERY time they never stop...there is NO break? That it's gone on so long I could not truthfully tell you I remember the last time it DIDN'T hurt?" But I know they are trying to help & I'm grateful for even a few minutes of lowering the pain. So I give this answer too...that I really can't tell anymore.
I have chronic migraines and have white matter on both hemisphere of brain I have to take my pills every 4 hours I live in pain and I have no life I can't function as much as I want to!
What solution do you think would work so that people that have already tried all possible "solutions" and have already received all advice they could get to try those possible "solutions" to not be pestered with unhelpful advice... But at the same time, the other people that haven't already been given all the advice and possible "solutions" they might need to try, and they don't already know of, can still receive said advice? Maybe we should swap places. You'll see how no one offers you any advice, feedback or requested help/advice. It is worse.
This is totally fair but people aren’t mind readers and may be scared to give advice too or maybe they feel it’s inappropriate in the situation. My problem is with the people who think they know your condition because their “x”, “y”, or “z” has the same condition too. What works for one person is not necessarily going to work for another person. Although we are sharing similar symptoms, what may work for me may not work for you and vice versa. My best advice is if you’re wanting advice is to just ask as directly as you can. I always feel like if someone is actually interested in advice that they’ll find a way to ask it and then it will also create a conversation at the same time. If you get unsolicited advice enough times, you’ll probably change your mind about it being worse especially when it’s something that you’ve been told way too many times.
I can tell this was taken on iPhone

Hii Ashely I am from India. My husband had recently diagnosed with IIH. He is on medication now . But he stills feel the same heavynes and the same symptoms as before. My query is about is IIH patient can be able to feel normal like before the problem. How long it is going to take for recovery
I have to be honest that even with how good I feel now, there are still days where I still feel off. It happens very sparingly and when it does, it usually is hormone related or I have tried to push myself too far. I first thought school might be a possibility in late January this year. I have been in remission and off medication now for a few years. It’s definitely a marathon and not a sprint and I personally think it’s more about getting used to a new normal and not so much about getting back to the form you were in before. Everyone is so individual and IIH in males is even more complicated than it is in females from my understanding.
Hello Ashley, I watched your old clips and the amount of change and success you have truly achieved. You are an example of patience and perseverance. You are a great warrior. I am 19 years old. I was diagnosed with IIH a year ago and had many surgeries, all of which failed. Now I am in treatment and I have a small group on Facebook in which there are many young girls with this disease. I want to take some of your advice and experiences with the disease and translate it into Arabic so that the members of my group on Facebook can benefit from it. Can I do this?😊
Absolutely you can! Thanks for asking! I have a Facebook page too so feel free to share to your group there too. Same name and my profile pic is the same there too.
It's hard to explain all of the emotions as I head into my final full week of work this week but things are definitely starting to become more real especially after getting these supplies and doing other prep courses. I'm really excited to document this process not only for myself to look back on but to hopefully give some hope to my fellow chronic illness fam that life with chronic illness can be fulfilling even when it feels like everything is falling apart. I'm so thankful to be in this position and thank you for watching.
I was diagnosed at 5 years old I remember this was probably around 4 years ago or 5 years ago or something I remember one day this was a couple years after I was diagnosed I remember waking up in the middle of the night I was on the top of my bunk bed and I felt really sick and I had the worst migraine and I tried to get down the ladder and go to the bathroom but just threw up right there there was barley a break in between I was throwing up I kept throwing up and up for a really long time then my mom took me to the ER or Ed I don’t remember which one the I spent around 5 to 6 days in the hospital and they did a bunch of tests they didn’t know what was going on and they did a mri but they still didn’t know they tested me for Crohn's disease and it was negative and I was still throwing up a lot at the hospital and they but a iv in me I think ether the 1st or second day in the hospital till this day I’m still a mystery I’m now 12 I’ve had it for 7 years there’s a Neuro-ophthalmologist coming to the hospital I go to soon hopefully I can get in with him I am going to get a MRI and MRA done soon and it’s my first time not being asleep for it
Wow, that is quite the diagnosis process!
How long did it take for the furosemide take to lower your csf and how did your symptoms decrease over time? And also did it lower it by a good amount? Please let me know id really appreciate it thanks.
I really don’t think the furosemide did much of anything, honestly. And at this point, I no longer remember how long it take for the acetazolamide to work. I really think it’s weight loss that did it for me which took me awhile to get down in weight.
@@AshleyStuart thank you. One more thing do you believe acetazolamide was more effective than furosemide for you?
@unblindswordzman96 Yes!
Did the headaches ever go away?
Not completely no because I still have to manage migraines. It’s significantly better than it used to be but not 100% perfect. At this point, I really can’t expect much more.
How are you now? Are u still on medication?
I honestly can’t ask for much better. And for IIH, no and I haven’t been for awhile. For migraines, yes I am still on a preventative medication and use OTC (over the counter) pain medication when I do experience migraines.
How did you go in remission?
Weight loss!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I have been diagnosed myself for about a month with IIH. Do you have a recommendation about what brand or type of pillow works best for you and your pain? Like you, I get a sore spot on the back of my head and nearly always have the ache in the occipital region, as well as a stiff neck. I am thinking that being propped up while sleeping might be good to help encourage draining of CSF? I don’t yet have a stent or any other surgical intervention, which may be coming depending on the results of an upcoming lumbar puncture. Thank you so much, and I wish you the greatest success in your continuing studies-you deserve it so much after all you have gone through 😊
I don’t have a particular recommendation but I tend to use multiple items to prop myself up. That being said, due to being in remission, I don’t have as many issues with lying flat as I did before.
This sounds very similar to me! This might be overkill but I actually have one of those motor beds that you can raise and lower with a remote lol, sometimes it helps. When I’m sleeping in another place and feel I need to be propped up I use extra pillows, but sometimes flat feels better (I suspect I might have leaks so it might depend on whether it’s a low or high pressure headache).
Absolutely! Most times I’m more comfortable sleeping propped up.
Same last time I got a blood test my hand was shaking uncontrollably and the nurse said stop shaking it is nothing 😭😭I have really really bad needle phobia
I do that too. I hate needles so much!
God bless hope you feel better
My daughter was just diagnosed with in the last2 months… idk if pain throughout the body is part of the diagnosis…does anyone else have body pain?
I had excruciating pain in my leg muscles. I had my mom massage them for me almost nightly. There was some achiness in other muscles too but my legs were some of the worst pain I’ve ever had.
@@AshleyStuart Thank you so much, I asked the doctor they gave me no answers…
This vlog was so much fun to make and edit and hope these get more interesting once I am actually in classes. If there's something you want me to show you, please let me know! ☺
Thank you so much. I’m just finding these tonight. Going for a brain scan tomorrow, very nervous but this gives me some hope it’s not a tumour.
Aww hugs. Hoping for the best for ya! ❤️
Ashley you are your own authentic self, unique, free thinking and an independent individual. You value life and you honour your loved ones whether they are your family or your friends. Hang on to your hopes, your dreams and above all do not conform to the expectations of others. Let your own light shine bright and follow that!!
I’m sorry that people say these things to you.
I had to do all of these things for them to find out I had IIH it sucked but I’m glad they found out I had it🥲
Ya I feel the same way. I just wish they didn’t need the lumbar puncture though because my back still sometimes feels weird.
@@AshleyStuart fr! They had to try 3 different times to do the LP on me bc the needle they used the first two times was too short but they were still trying to use it and force the needle further than it could go I couldn’t stand for like a week because I was so sore and in so much pain from it
@Irievibes_420 Dang, that sucks! They did mine under x-ray but still missed the first time.
I was really happy to see your latest video that there will be some good news that it has been vanished completely now but its not. I also diagnosed with IIH 2months back. My journey just started. I appreciate your decision your videos really give me confidence.
Please make video over double vision and and it's precautions.
For a video on double vision, check this out! My Experience with IIH and Double Vision ruclips.net/video/rao8CrMz2vw/видео.html
Good Luck with the study Ashley, love the setup. The sit-stand desks are a life changer.
Thank you! 😊
You briefly mentioned having a low pressure headache in this video. What would have given you a low pressure headache rather than high? What’s did the low one feel like?
Good question! A spinal fluid leak after the lumbar puncture is why it happened! The spinal tap/lumbar puncture was required to diagnose IIH! I’m pretty sure I talked a bit about the experience in my diagnosis story but I could be wrong about that as it’s been so long since I’ve watched that video.
@@AshleyStuart thank you for such a quick response! I appreciate the videos you made. I just looked back at the one from the LP you mentioned. Does your IIH headache have a strong postural component? For example…. Does your headache from IIH feel much worse while laying down and get much better when you sit up?
How is your life after 5-6 years of living with IIH, did the symptoms go away? And do you still need any medicines on a regular basis?
The IIH is in remission and has been for about 2 years now! I think I’ve been off medication specifically for IIH for 3 years now. I only use Aimovig for migraine prevention although there’s interesting evidence about Aimovig in this situation. Anyways, I still deal with some days of effects from the Aimovig not being perfect but honestly, I don’t think I could ask for much more than this.
thank you!!!!!!!!i have been diagnosed with this and everyone would always tell me there just headaches get over it but no one but us understands
Or they just brush it off and say Oh its just a headache! So frustrating and disheartening...Ive stopped explaining it.
Did you hqve wny chronic migraine.in.tue body fir me up per body armpits now bi headache nowdays anyone else?

Hi Ashley! I'll tell you the same thing I tell Z - don't worry about it - do what feels right in the moment, and those who have an interest in your content will see it when they see it. I see so many RUclipsrs burning out because it becomes a profession or business for them, not a passion, and there's so much competition that they are always under the gun to make more and better content in an endless race for competition for clicks. F* that! Seems like you have a healthy attitude about it already though! :)
Aww thanks! This comment means so much! ❤️🙏🏻
That's Idiotic
Accurate, and there is not enough info out there about it... Personally, I just feel exhausted and even "dumb" at times during my postrodrome... Like my normal cognitive function wont come back for at least two or three days... As a full time professional it is a b*tch.... Kudos for the Video, greetings from MX
