Just posting a sneak peak for what we're going to be uploading. Stay tuned.
All these comments are ridiculous. No one spending 200K + on a GT3 wants to buy a heavily tracked car. Just remember 1 track mile equates to 10-20 regular miles. I'm looking for a 991.2 right now and this is a big concern of mine. Thanks for the video, but I'd like to see even more ways to tell, like a DME report, etc.
The "front nose". Ho ho.
A work of art
What a gem. Congrats.
Oh lord lose some weight bro
What exhaust system are you running on this car?
SSI Headers with bola exhaust
wow! What brand of muffler is it?
ssi with a bola setup
Pretty easy to replace the tires, clean the wheel wells, and clean the front air intakes. LOL
You would be surprised Howard what I’ve seen
@@fredericnanni5405 nothing much surprises me in the car business anymore!
Those are good tips idk why people are so mad😂 and yes they are meant to be driven on the track.
I made the video for the layman on how to tell. most of my clients that want to purchase or I sell to want to know this first and secondly they want a dme report. this video was made for people who don't know what to initially look for.
I sold 4 997’s tracked, all had new front grills, new fender liners new splitter, brake ducts, side skirts, tires, pads, rotors and freshly painted calipers. I mean look at the tires for track evidence??
quick visual for the layman.
All of your “signs” are easily cleanable and tires can be replaced. You would be easily fooled.
this again is for the layman. I would never be fooled
Great video! :) I‘ve got a question. How did you lowered your 911 exactly? Did you do it on your own or at a special mechanic?✌️
you index the bars as its a torsion bar car
Im sorry but this is dumb... better Check if the car has been crashed before. Thats what really important... But not for what it was design for.. 🤦♂️
I have clients that look for virgin non tracked cars, I sold this car to a guy who wanted this type car.
Definitely don't buy a GT3 that's been tracked. If it has any rubber remnants on it, it won't look as good when it's mothballed in your garage - never to be driven again.
Beautiful and very tastefully put together
Thank you very much!
what do you think? factory short shift like yours vs Wevo short shift. thanks
The wevo is a great setup but better for track than street. But I do like them
Exhaust?

but what about the RS 4.0?
what about it? its at a bigger price point currently and an even better driving experience but just substantially more $$$
EVO magazine published its first issue in 1998. In 2010, EVO named the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 their car of the year. EVO magazine had a special edition in October, 2014 for their 200th issue. They picked 20 cars over their 16 years of publication to represent the best of what EVO stands for. Numerous journalist spent days, driving many miles in these cars…. In the end they picked the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 as THE car, the best among the best. Chris Harris is a motorsports journalist and an incredible driver. In a recent video named “The future of the Porsche 911”, the hosts asks Chris if he could only pick ONE 911 to have/drive, only one, what would it be? His response, the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8. Side note, he owned a 997.2 4.0 RS and still picked the 3.8. This machine is legendary and will go down as one of the greatest analog driving experiences ever.
Totally agree. Love mine!
100%
991.2 is superior… sorry.
I think from the standpoint of a better more raw experience I think the 997.2 was the last of that. The new cars are faster etc but hard to beat the 997.2, mezger engine, last of the 997 body etc.
@@porschalism2785 Agreed. Really not even close. Sure, 991.2 is faster, but that is the end of it. In my opinion, the 997.2 GT3 RS provides a greater driving experience and is more visually appealing. It’s the GOAT.
I'd give anything for this car..
I can help you acquire one if you would like
@@porschalism2785 Man, if I wasn’t 14 yesrs old and had a crap ton of cash, I’d definitely love to own one of these in Grey Black or Aqua Blue!
What's wrong with a GT3 being tracked? They're literally built for it. As long as the DME report is clean I wouldn't stay away from a well maintain car that has been tracked. As long as the recommended maintenance has been done correctly and it wasn't crashed these cars are pretty damn bulletproofed. These days even "tracked" GT cars are going for big money and garage queens are almost unattainable or going for stupid $ so for folks who wants to buy a GT car to enjoy and use and NOT as an investment, don't discount a car just because its been tracked. I recently bought a 997.2 GT3. It was most certainly been tracked by the 1st owner (the way the car was spec'ed and the half cage + harnass was a dead giveaway). But it was well looked after and maintained, DME was clean. So I pulled the trigger, couldn't be happier with it.
This was done for people who collect these cars and many don't want a car that is tracked for a static type collection.
997.1 for me
I know of a very nice one available if you so desire but don't wait too long
Great! I own this one without the whale tale
Great content that you are providing. Sorry if you have addressed my question in previous RUclips videos. I too also own a 1985 Carrera 3.2 in triple black which I am in love with. What upgrades have you made to your 911 and that you recommend for owners of this great car? Thank you
I would do a Steve Wong chip and mate it with SSI headers and a good exhaust. I used borla for its sound and construction
@@porschalism2785 thanks
If someone tried to sell me a GT3 RS and said 'I used it for trackdays whenever I can', I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Some people look for cars that have not been tracked and I must say the majority look for this. It isn't to say this owner won't track it but he wants a car that he would be the first to do so.
to Porschalism: approximately where was this video taken? I would like to visit the area when I am next in North America / Canada. Thank you

this is 991 right?
yes it is.
Sounds great. In the middle of a total refresh of a '76 2.7 and am considering M&K or Dansk. Now you have looking into a Borla. Any experience with M&K sport muffler?
no but I know the quality of them is great and the sound is fantastic

Thank you Christian. Working on a new website coming as well more videos in 20212
So, in summary, the new stuff is better, faster and less effort. The old ones are slow, much more effort but it's all about the investment potential.
its about the contrast difference. the turbo 86 model was the fastest in its day and we were just highlighting how 28 years of technology shows in the differences.
The 930 still looks the bomb, I’d take it any day over the 991!
What is the point of owning one without tracking one?
I get many requests from clients to buy one of these cars and they all for the most part want one that has not been tracked, again I am the messenger here. This video is 3 quick things to look for visually (visual clues) that can show a car has been tracked. Again I agree these cars are meant to be tracked but many want to purchase a car that has not been tracked.
Total rubbish, tracked all my GT3s and these are the 3 easiest ways to "resolve" if thats your thing. Geo set up and brake condition might be a give away if you can pedal. Really sad the GT3s and the likes actually end up in videos like this. For fannies to buy and talk about how they own a GT3 variant, zero seat time at grip limit.
this was a video made for people looking to purchase a car that was never tracked, I think you missed the point of the video. I am a track guy, this car was a car the is owned by a client and he chose not to track it and use it as an investment vehicle. Each to his own. Most of these cars are of course tracked as that's the intended purpose but the few cars there are out there for the layman can basically look at these 3 areas for a general idea. This video was intended to quickly look for these area first.
@@porschalism2785 I understand what you are proposing, I would say from the comments section, let's say its not received an overly positive reaction. Reason is simple that in recent times this "investment" philosophy has ruined a sector for the petrolhead who get pleasure from driving these wonderful creations rather than reasonably ill informed investors who are likely if bought recently to take a haircut. Especially in the 991 model where rarity was not a factor
@@lindsaymac911 you sound like a real bad ass Lindsay.....never once did he mention anything regarding his opinion on tracking a Porsche or not
@@lindsaymac911 James Willard is right, I am one who agrees that they should be tracked. I have many clients looking for these vehicles and of those clients they specifically prefer a non tracked car for purchase which makes it more difficult since most have been. This video was basically made on what quick things you can look for without doing a DME read for the layman. Again I agree with all the comments on yes they should be tracked.
@@porschalism2785 Well, tbh, the only thing you HAVE to do before buying a Porsche is a DME. It does not matter if the car have been tracked, the only thing that matters is if it has been over revved. Everything else is maintenance. Btw, what is track debris? Rubber?
It’s a track car not a piece of art!
I think you mean “it’s a car”
@@jameswillard1 amended, missed out the word car 😝
If they haven't been tracked it's a sin.
These cars are for tracks? Buy a Lexus if that is a problem
this car was not tracked, it was a car for this client as an investment. sometimes people want it as a store of value others want to track it, I prefer myself to track it as its a specific tool to get a certain job done, but again those are the products that get a cult following and are used for an investment
