Feedback synthesis can give some nice string sounds. Feeding a short noise back through a tight delay gets some good sounds that you can then feed through distortion to get an interesting palm muted guitar sound. Best bet is to spend some time playing with a bunch of different settings, render it all out, and then chop it up into samples.

Check bethelick - 3 types of reece bass. He gets real close to the original reece - just want another chance, by using phase modulated sine waves in vital. and if you wanna get even closer check out owen palmer - the secret reece waveform with his exact lite(free synth) reece patch. you need to remember that kevin saunderson created that sound on a casio cz 5000 synth, which is a phase distortion synth. heres my vital reece patch. 2x saws. tune osc1 to 25. tune osc 2 to -25. env. lil bit of attack(not too much), little bit of release(not too much) drag env to osc1 vol and osc2 vol. unison to 1v on both osc. poly 2. turn on filter, select analog 24db. select osc 1 AND OSC 2 on the filter, adjust cut off to -6.516 semitones. play around c1 on the keyboard. go to fridge, open fridge, grab a beer, go back to studio, save patch. thats probably the easiest reece patch that can be made in vital. unless you wanna get into phase modulated sine waves then see bthelick's vid 3 types of reece bass.

Cool. Snap heap is great for after processing as well and fairly cheap 29 Euros. Premium plugins arn't but you can do tons with the free ones. Yeah must try time on basses haven't tried that yet.

I've just started trying to learn DnB so long way to go. Still doing the unfinished projects as learning curves. But I try to at least have 4 blocks of 16 bars. I gave up trying to make the drums just wasn't working and there's too many other things to contend with so bought a few. Good luck sounding good.

Have you tried messing around with Detune Range in the Advanced tab? It controls how much detune you can get with unison and you can set the precise amount of detune you need. By default detune range is set to 2, which means at 100% detune the left and right channels will be offset by a full tone from the note you are playing (for example if you play E, you will hear F# in the left channel and D in the right channel). You can set the detune range to 1 or 0,75 for more precision. If you want to control how wide the sound is, you can use the Spread knob next to the glide parameters.

If you wanna do a good reese bass in other plugin, you can use a saw wave with some detune/unison, some distorsion but not soft clip, you can try with other type of distortion, also you can put a lowpass filter and some ott (which is free) and then cut some of the low frecuencies on the side (between 170-250) also if you wanna use Vital, you can add some movement to the reese bass adding some automations in the pitch knob, but just a bit of it so you can emulate that analog type of effect

You should reference this track with Seba - Shades of me & you Your pad gives me exactly those vibes. Bar 25 also great buildup. The Drop Idea is super, Drums need way more attention tho (too dull)

Maybe you can add a drone to make some atmosphere to fill some space in the mix and make it more vibey

Pro tip: the compressor module of shaperbox allows for a multiband compression style sidechain. So you can additionally to the volume lfo make sure that really ALL kicks (also in turn arounds/breaks/drops) get sidechained on the other tracks. The compressor will use the according band of the sidechain for low mid and high part. so you can set the limits dependent on the sound to sidechain instead of dependen on the kick, so when the kick changes, the compressor will still sidechain the right frequencies. I have a send fx track, that has no output to master, i.e. its silent in the mix. But i can grab that one in the sidechain settings of the devices and plugins. So a) i dont have to worry about on which track my kick is at, i just send the track to that sidechain in case for some reason it landed on a new track and b) i can send more sounds than just the kick to the same sidechain (and/or use that technique for other sidechains, like for example a sidechain for the lead that cuts the mids and highs of all other tracks). My shaperbox sidechain preset consists of a width module, a volume module with my typical sidechain shape, just like you have it as well and the compressor module pre setup to have all 3 bands enabled for the sidechain and no auto release, nor auto gain. All 3 modules are turned off by default und their preconfiguration is as minimal as possible to keep it versatile. I just have my kick sidechain shape as default because its a piece of cake to change shapes with shaperbox.

This is cool man! Something that can sound quite musical and intuitive, have the velocity affecting the filter rather than the overall volumn, you'll hear the synth open up with more attack, and the softer notes will also get more mellow naturally.

Kick is way punchier with the tool. Have you used the tool enough to justify the $100? And what is the benefit of doing the ducking this way instead of using sidechain compression?

Do you use any keyboard shortcuts all the time? If so please share!? I'm paying extra close attention to the actual mouse clicks now, whereas before I was mostly just listening. And this long form video where I see everything without cuts has been very educational on the actual messing with a synth. Your comment got me thinking...I think the world is beautiful that even in the chaos, we can find order (like music) <3. For some reason this song had me hearing in my heart that "I am not alone". I like that tape effect too! I think my favorite thing was how you automated in that tremolo effect at the end. Great stuff!
