All Hobie kayak had minor leaks, not the old town. I got new compass, still leaks. just one middle hatch, maybe is opening or closing the hatch and water dripping down.

2020 still leaks

I have watched many kayak equipment list videos and learned alot from them but the one thing I haven't seen yet is what kind of fishing pole/reel to use (kayak fishing for pan fish in N.Eastern WI lakes). PS: Those high-intensity whistles are painful and will destroy your hearing if you don't include a pair of ear plugs on your whistle lanyard.

To tighten the Hatch all you had to do was shorten the bungee by unscrewing it from the kayak and shortening the cord....

You should do a floating test on them like jump in the water with it. Just a suggestion something different no one else is doing

I don't have one of these boats but two potential fixes which would be more permanent. Get some exercise mat and cut it to fit the whole inside of the hatch. Use some spray adhesive and glue it down. Fix number two would involve silicon and some cling wrap. Put the cling wrap on the boat hatch and around it. Put generous amount of silicon on the lid, close it and let it dry. Remove the cling wrap and trim the extra silicon. We did this with airplane wing saddles and it would stick so well just from the suction force it would be hard to remove the wing.

What year is your outback? I have a 2019 that has two seals, one on the lip and one inside the hatch. Maybe they listened.

Awesome setup. I bought the same knife and PFD, but the knife sheath sits tight to where the holder on the PFD is flexing. Did you have the same experience with the Gerber? Thanks.

Good vid.... I just got my Chinook PFD for $82 shipped. One thing I would recommend is to orientate your knife straight up and down so you can pull it from either hand in an emergency.

Still leaking pretty good at 15:04 (at the area where the hatch is attached, as you predicted might be an issue), were you able to solve that? Totally agree though: it's unsat that Outback owners are having to figure this out

What if you want to run led lights at the same time as a fish finder ? Could the Battery support that ?

The Wheels on my Boonedox do not spin freely...it feels like im dragging instead of rolling the kayak, any suggestions?

what's your thoughts about the lure 13.5? ill be using it mostly on lake Norman, Hickory, Catawba river and Kerr Scott. this will be my first kayak.

Have you had any issues with the legs sliding off while on the water? I noticed that the new Boonedox doesn't have a "lock" for the legs.

I,m surprised you don't have issues with the scupper holes not draining because of their placement. I contacted Hobie and they basically told me I did not know what I was talking about, by the way its a PA 14.

I'm thinking about buying one of these just for wading on the rivers and fishing.

Thanks for the fix video. New subscriber and Hobie Outback owner also. Feel your pain on having to upgrade seals on an expensive kayak. They definitely need to up their game on some simple fix’s for sure. Thanks again.

I enjoyed your vid but any kayak that you can get out fishing is a good kayak not everyone can spend $1000 to $2500 . But these pricey yaks and you still have to buy all the stuff for it fish finder extra rod holders . And there are some that go out and buy a Hobie or a Old Town pedal and end up selling it next season because they didn't like it . So now they have a kayak they spent alot on and don't wanna take it out so now they have to sell it. I think most should buy a used kayak for ok money and if they do end up liking upgrade but if they don't like it they are not out all that money. Just my opinion have a good day
