The saddest part about this game is that it’s ninja theory’s best game and still has a bunch of issues. Mostly writing and some combat ideas.

So the reality is this game got a crazy amount of hate, not because it was a bad game, or even a bad adaptation really, it simply wasn't DMC5 which was the sequel fans had been demanding. So when a reboot was announced, and that sequel seemed to be at risk, the community went rabid, finding any and every reason to tear it apart from even the earliest stages of development. This was amplified because the externet loves a hate train, and you had a huge influx of people who had never even heard of DMC clamering to jump on. But as a long time fan, sense the first one released on PS2, I can objectively say this game is probably the 3rd best in the series and personally my second favorite of all of them. The memes persist, but the game has always spoken for itself.

If I remember my playthrough right, I’m pretty sure you can shoot those spinny spike things that were causing you a little trouble. Also, I think one of the other reasons people didn’t like the reboot back then was that all of Dante’s actions in this game are actually trying to come off as cool. Like I’m pretty sure the devs actually thought Dante was a badass when he was saying those one liners, instead of a dork, like he actually is. Glad to see you can enjoy him for his dorkiness though.

Question, what difficulty you on (if there even is a difficulty) either way game looks super easy, looks like you aren’t doing that much and the game is handing out S ranks like it’s nothing in terms of combat. I have a feeling one of the big reasons your enjoying this is because of the combat and how it isn’t difficult, unless you are playing on a easy mode and that you didn’t for the previous games, not to shame you on your skill level for action games, but you not remembering how to do basic stuff and getting stressed over simple platforming really shows why you struggled with the past games especially if you weren’t playing on easy. Plus the platforming not being as good back in the older games and that they do require you to be more skilful with dodging and combos, therefore your spammy gameplay wasn’t helping, again especially if you were playing on a normal difficulty. That’s the way I see it anyways, when looking back and knowing how you feel about the other games. Glad your enjoying the game so far, game isn’t as bad as people are seeming to be so far, apart from one or two things and the fact they didn’t need to reboot the series at all, game seems to be fine.

The combat in this game isn’t that bad tbh, if it didn’t use the devil may cry name then it probably would’ve been successful reminds me of infamous second son, a worse version of it anyway. The limbo world is a pretty cool concept and you never get to see Dino or virgin’s angel powers only the demon ones

Eh, Futurama did this addictive soda plot better.

If they called this a "Reimagining" instead of a "Reboot" DMC fans would have been more forgiving of it. Part of the reason this game was so hated was cuz DMC fans liked the original Dante, and they disliked the fact that cuz of this game we were problably never gonna see the original universe and it's Dante return. And many fans just couldn't accept that. I actually kind of like this alternate universe, and I do think it's a shame we won't see more games in this continuity, I am kind of interested on how they would adapt stuff from other DMC games. What would Nero look like in this universe? Would they adapt DMC2 or would they pretend it doesn't exist? XD
