How to Teach Dogs to The Sit - from the ACE Shelter and Rescue Course
Oh great, i ised my stethoscope and hear the "lub dub" on two beats, and then a pause which i know is not normal. My 4 year old rescue is becoming Very expensive. I have an EKG machine and now need to figure out how to place them on a dog and then send it to his Vet.
Fortunately I've never had to experience this, but this is great to be armed with this knowledge. Thank you Dr. Jeff.....I came here from your final video on your holistic veterinary conference that started April 8th, 2024. VERY informative!
Check your medical records if your puppy has a seizure... dollar to donuts it wasn't so long ago that your puppy got one of the VAXXES... ya know the required ones, like rabies, and now even more, flu, heartworm, whatever... or a anti-flea pesticide hint... play it safer, take along a couple doses of liposomal C or lychospheric C and dose your pup right before the vax and again right after b/c vit C is a universal anti-toxin and yeah unexplainbly the pharma mfr choose to use mercury/aluminum chemicals for preservatives... lycospheric is the strongest form of C but in a pinch, you can dilute sodium ascorbate in purified water [25%] and use that.. tastes better as well, slightly salty... for the 10lb kiddos in our rescue, we would aim for 500mg doses... ttyl
Those heartbeats sound a bit irregular.
My dogs heartbeat sounded like that
the best video about ear cleaning, thank you!
Remembering this good lesson. My dog had a seizure 10/27/23 It was scary because it was the 1st time ever for him.
Severe malitiposhaking for &1hourwhat do you do
Is that second one just a normal sinus arrhythmia ?
What if it isn't bloat? I had x-rays and blood work done no signs of bloat. Red and white blood cells look good. Waiting on ultra sound. What else can it be
Is it okay if my small yorkie of 7 months has a heart rate of 70 bpm
I walk a dog that has cancer and he has already surpassed his odds and has been doing really really good despite his prognosis. He hasn’t had one in a while but I want to make sure I’m prepared if he does have one while I’m watching him so he can be as safe as possible. Thanks for the info ! I hope I never need it !
My dog’s heart beat sounds like lub lub lub *pause* dub
Is this normal?
I would recommend a check up with your trusted veterinarian
PULL HIM BY THE TAIL? Did you really just say that??
All epileptic dog owners...please Google ocular compression. Worked on my Scotch Collie last night. I am sooo grateful!!!❤🙂🙃
Should the mouth of the dog or cat be held close when blowing air into the nose? Or, should our mouth also cover over the nose and mouth when blowing air ?
😇 thank you for the information
Thank god lmao I was like wtf is wrong w my dogs heart beat 😭
My 7 month old puppy barked at the human heart sounds but not at the canine heart sounds. She seems more relaxed. I just got a stethoscope as a gift and was checking her heart.
Yes… very informative. I feel food fermentation contribute as well.
my dog had a seizure yesterday and as i think about what’s to come for us, i definitely needed this video in case he has another and doesn’t come back to. thank you for providing this information🤍
There are no distractions for the dog in this video
Correct. The elements that you need to look at are described in the video. Did you catch them?
I lost my dear two days ago, he was gasping for breath right in front of my eyes. I couldn’t save him. wish I had seen your video earlier . 😭
My dog was choking on one of those pet store chewy hives so I quickly took him and shook him upside down. It flew out.
That is great to hear. You are now a life--saver!
I lost my beloved dog the other day and never thought about dog CPR which we needed desperately at that moment. Now I review dog CPR after loosing my dog. All PET owners must know how to do CPR on their beloved dog.
If we're covering them with a sheet then how are we supposed to see if they're vomitting??
You don't cover them to darken the room for them and then walk away/ignore them. Stay there and you'll see if they run into difficulty.
👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Got a 10 y/o Chihuahua, he got heart issues and his breathing isn't that good. Figured Id learn this just in case. Thank you!
I know this came out a while ago, but I find it super lovely that my next two recommended videos are bob ross. Very telling as to how good this guy is 😊
Wonderful video
Excellent
I was napping with my puppy and listening to her heart ir goes by group of 3 heartbeats. Really nice video, it is reassuring to learn that it is normal :)
No seriously I was messing with my Stethoscope and heard it and was so worried because it didn’t sound normal to me I thought he was skipping heart beats so I had to reassure myself 😂😭
@@jessicacolon9504same
Same!
I just died a thousand deaths in the time it took me to search the audio that can tell me the normal heart sound of my baby.
@@Frolic_CesarI was just doing the same 😭
It's all in the timing. And it requires that the handler is constantly aware. If you react too late then it's a waste of time. I have tried what I call "too late conditioning". Which is what to do if you are too late in reacting, or distracting. So there are two things. One is to get the dog distracted just before the car or bicycle goes by and the other is what to do if the dog has already begun the unwanted behaviour. Two totally different techniques. Is it worth trying once the dog has begun his unwanted behaviour, or when is it too late. My pointer mix is extremely smart and trainable, but his prey drive often takes over and I can often watch as he fights his own drive. It's a if he wants to do what I have been trying to get him to change, but he just can't control himself. I have to admit that I am very proud of him because he seems to really want to change his behaviour. After trying to catch squirrels hundreds of unsuccessful times, he finally caught one and killed it instantly in typical neck snapping. It was easy to get him to drop the dead squirrel and come to me. The goal, I realised is to catch and kill the rodent, not to eat it, which is strange to me considering how food driven he is. Squirrels represent a hunt, not food. I used to worry that he might hurt very small dogs, but he is actually gentle with all dogs except males who are not castrated. He never fights except with un castrated males that he will pursue. He might become aggressive to stop other dogs fighting. He usually goes after the more aggressive dog in the fight. I wonder if you have some advice on how to deal with my rescued 4.5 year old pointer mix who we have had for a year. He came to us with very serious possession aggression, where we could not go near his bed or place of safety. He was similarly protective of his food bowl. We could easily hand feed him with no danger, but once he would start a meal in his bowl, we had to stay far. Now the bed aggression is totally gone but the food bowl problem is still there. It is much much less serious and we can now walk very close by while he eats, but still can not touch his bowl once he has begun eating. He has never bitten anyone but the reaction to his food bowl used to be quite scary.
I have a malinois which also has food agression. Now it only comes out when he feels threathend. What i did was, everytime i walk by him while eating i throw food so i am no threat. Also i learned him to eat on command, stop eating on command and back away. This combination really worked out well. Now i can say stop, back up and take the food. So instead of taking it while eating, i let him give up the food. I don't think it will ever go away 100%. Hope this helps!
@@Gauddus yes it helps. Thanks a lot. My worry was what Chester would do if a child approached while he ate. If he finds a bone from someone’s garbage, I can now put my hand in his mouth and pull it out with no growling at all. It’s not perfect because he doesn’t always drop it when I say, but at least the aggression is gone. My dog was rescued from abuse. The problem is that we have no idea of the details of how he was treated so we don’t know the best way to fix things. We have to use trial and error. The usual ways to train a puppy might trigger worse behaviour. I am sure that the most important goal is to establish trust with consistency and above all, LOVE. If a dog feels loved, he feels secure and will stick by you. Thanks again. I am jealous. I always wanted a malinois but do not have a large property for him to run every time he wants. A malinois that is not tired is a destructive dog. They need to run and be physically challenged every single day.
@@perrypelican9476 Somehow i didn't got a notification from your reply. I get your concern. I never let a child near my dog while eating. never, ever. And not to be rude or anything but i slightly disagree about the love part. In my oppinion they need leadership and direction above everything else. Hope everything works out fine with Chester!
Late reply here but I think a great way to work around a dog with prey drive is to give them a safe way to "hunt" or stimulate their prey drive as well as training them to control their prey drive is unsafe situations
You must let him know he is eating because YOU are feeding him. So to gain a little trust feed him from your hand. Whisper to him and talk to it while doing so. Slowly trust shouls build
We just lost our dog last Sunday and I wish I knew this cause I could’ve saved her thank you for teaching me this if I ever need it again
I’m so sorry for your loss friend. I hope you are healing. Much love to you. 💙
I wish I found this sooner my dog passed away from suffocating from her saliva, I tried to do some sort of cpr on her but clearly it looks like I was doing it wrong. But it was somewhat enough to almost make it to the hospital. Sadly she passed in my arms while getting to the emergency room
Yep that’s mine too. Straight hunt mode. Does not even care about treats I can even try and hold them over his nose sees squirrel and he is gone
My dog was dying and I brought him back with this, it does work. Thank you for doing this video, sir.
Cars! My wild child rescue boy don’t care about cars… it’s the damn tortoises all everywhere! 😹
Oh thank God I thought my dog had arrhythmia.
Thank you so much🙏🏻❤️
Great video ,thank you. Tried a free course but was all text based, no visuals. This video was a great supplement to the course and in many ways superior.
I didn't knew about the ice pack. Thank you.
What triggers them? Besides eating something poisonous or neurological issues? Is there something else?
I was listening to my little dogs heart just now (he like to lay on my head) and it sounded like an Arrhythmia to me but then I listen to the slower sound recorded and it’s just like that.
you are awesome. this was sooo informative!
It was wery help full but it's too late
My dog also had one just now Thanks for your info
This is great for a vet student who doesn't have a dog! Getting used to hearing normal heart sounds. There are very few videos of non-human heart sounds! Would be wonderful to have a follow up for gallop rhythm or heart murmurs etc
My dogs heart is slower and like stops for a second then beats aging and this happens randomly
they act like its so easy... it took me 10 years to be able to get one of my teeth fixed, now my pup is going though the same, i couldn't tend to him properly cause of cancer and covid and now he has that 3 stage and one tooth going into 4th, i have no money for shots, or id, so no very will look at him, and even then i don't have tons of money for any app for my pup to be looked at or get his teeth cleaned fixed.... I just happened to been training to be a vet tech when i was younger so i know how to keep him out of pain a bit and that's all I'm able to do
Why did you not use a real hunting, sight hound ? Pits aren't used for hunting as far as I know.
Pits are terriers. If you know anything about terriers it is reasonable expect them to have the spring prey drives that they have as far as I can tell
