You’re a true inspiration Nathan not just with coastal path journey but your entire ethos and where you came from. Top guy 💪🏻
Thank you so much. Unfortunately I had to stop. Infection in the leg was getting to risky. Going back next year to go again.
Have you ever dreamed about doing a crazy run?
What’s your bucket list race?
On my first park run I got 35mins
Beautiful area... look after those troed... pace yourself and pob lwc...👍
It was a stunning part of wales. Going back next May to go again.
Keep on grinding Nathan 🤟
Thanks you Stuart. I would have kept going but infection got a bit to serious to ignore. Also fractured ankle around 100 miles but kept going as it wasn’t getting any worse 🤣
should be so proud of yourself! keep going record might not be there but like you said the experience is
Will have to go back next May for another go.
Cant beat a welsh coastline 👌
Totally agree
No real need for the bad language.
Keep at it buddy
Trying to Lee. Everything hurts so much
Amazing effort man keep it going
Thanks Joe. It sucks
Great running yesterday. Go and smash it again today 😊
Thank you . Hasn’t gone to plan today but I need to think long term. Rest and recovery today.
Amazing first day keep digging deep
Thank you. 🙏
Loving the podcast. Found you guys a couple of weeks ago and you’re making my journey to work educational and entertaining! I’m looking (and failing) to find the link to the “Why We Run” film. Would be possible for you to point me in the right direction please? Thanks, Lizzie
So glad you’re enjoying us. Sure the links here. ruclips.net/video/qO2IQEw9j9A/видео.htmlsi=AcE1sEAdDo31K3vT
honestly think it was a good tip and one so obvious that I cant believe I didn’t think of it. I took no offence at all as my reply was a genuine reply.
Nath have you though about using garmin live track. If you have a spare watch. I find it actually quite good tbf. Been following lowry for years she's a class Athlete. Rhys amazing work on the 100. And nath enjoy the coastal path ❤ hopefully I can get the time next year to do it ❤ after watching the lighthouse. Nath thinking about it mate don't get yourself caught up they run 100 miles. Anything over 70 will have a massive effect. It will be about the recovery in-between 🙏
Trying all sorts out. Strava seems to be the better one so far. If you’re going next year give me a date and I will crew. Also send over all my plans from this year. I am really looking forward to seeing what I am capable of. I have a distance I need to do each day. Doesn’t have to be quick. Hopefully I will surprise a few people.
@Nathan_runsultras I've never realised strava did live track. The thing is with taking on a run like this especially when it's in the public eyes. There will always be speculation. Il be honest I never thought that rhys record would have been taken. Having completed in stage races myself I know how hard it is. But that record was taken and is now 19 days. I have absolute no doubt you will complete the coastal path and I would love to share some miles with you on it. It would be a pleasure. But I will say the fkt is going to be a huge ask for you. And as rhys just said in this podcast you need everything to go well and for it to be a dream 19 days. I genuinely wish you all the best and that you stay injury free brother. You've done staged races before so it's just a case of repeating that. Catch you soon 🙏
And just to clarify, I think that fkt is a huge undertaking for everyone who attempts it. Not just you ❤️
@@leerunsultrasno I completely agree Lee. My plan was to run the coast as a dream. That’s happening now so I have to at least attempt to go for the Fkt as I would never get this chance again. But if I fall behind it won’t kill me. Goal one is to finish and I would have gained more admiration for Rhys and Alan in the process .
Grant use to be overweight and struggled to tie his shoe laces. Now he’s running 100mile races for the experience
So listening to you run, what you need to do before you start is to turn your Water bag upside down and then suck all the air out of it. Once you have done that you can turn it the right way around and you won't have all that splashing sound annoying you. Well done
That’s a very good point. why haven’t I thought of that before. 🤦🏻♂️ Now run with bottle instead of a camel. But that is such a small thing to do but massive tip. 👍🏻
@@Nathan_runsultras Sorry I wasn’t being facetious, I actually thought that was the case just because it happened to me when I first started running. Second tip then - change plastic bottle to soft flask. What I discovered right off the bat was that with a soft flask you get the sloshing sound when you fill it up, but as soon as you start sucking water from it…that’s it no sloshing sound. So I fill mine up, take a sip and then off I go. I’m not a great runner so I definitely meant no disrespect….im kind of old as well so I tend to miss obvious things. Also I run with both soft flasks and camel but the sloshing sounds usually come from the camel! Happy running my friend.

He said bring it on for next years rematch
@@Nathan_runsultras 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️
Been looking forward to this one!
Did you enjoy it?
Love this, loads of great information for a new ultra runner like myself, I did my first back in October with RWC Gower Ultra. I'm doing the Vogum this year and planning on doing the slam next year. Keep up with the great content 💪
Thank you! Really appreciate the comment and love. Goodluck with the VOGUM, absolutely beautiful route!
Glad you like it. Drop us a message on Instagram if you ever need some info or advice. Gowers a tough ultra. 👏🏻👏🏻

Cheers guys, cracking podcast once again. @nathan see at the at the ultra fun run. Got a nice warm up with the vale mini ultra the weekend before.
If you spot me make sure you come and say Hi. Thanks for the support. ❤️
Great to see Will open up so much about his mental health. Again someone with pain pushing to do incredible things.
FIRST - Loving this so far lads :)
Will was brilliant wasn’t he. Honest.
Once talked to a urologist about whether or not everything is normal with me and he asked whethet I get morning erections. I tell him that I am not sure, probably sometimes and he just went "either yes or no". That had to be the most medically unprofessional statement I have ever heard. Morning erections are tied to your sleep rhythm, so I would only expect to observe them "100%" of the time if you sleep super regularly and wake up at the exact right poing in your cycle. So with my sleep schedule being all over the place, there had to be some nuance there I would guess.
we are doing a full episode on REDs soon and we will cover sleeping patterns.
What is red S? So are men supposed to walk up erect every morning? I dont think I do every morning but I’m definitely over 50%. It’s never something I measure. Why am I talking about this?
Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport. It gets you thinking though. Apparently if men don’t then they need more calories or more sleep. We will have to do a video on what’s REDs.
Listen to the full episode to find out more
I don't get them every day 😭
does not have to be every day. review how much sleep you get and also how much food you eat. (good food)
Harvey Lewis says 60% mindset 40% training, the mind is the only thing that got him through 450 miles. Thanks for the insp0 as I chase my first 50 miles this year at the age of 50.
That’s awesome Nikkie. 50 at 50 👏🏻 let us know how training is going. Tag us on Instagram. I would even say is a higher % towards mindset. I
Cracking story so inspirational and great to hear a local podcast keep em coming
Thank you. We have some great South wales guests coming on. We also have some international lined up. Think we have such a great trail running community in south wales it needs to be celebrated.
Well done Andrew James we are all really proud of you mush
Andrew’s done amazing over the last year and he’s just not slowing down
Hi Guys listening in from Australia, really enjoyed this. I've been running for years but only ever 5-7kms a couple of times a week, in the last couple of months I've started running longer and am training for my first half marathon at 56. Really inspired by Andrew's story thanks all the best for your channel
That’s great news David. Age is nothing but a number. Really glad you felt inspired. We will be getting More guests on live Andrew over the next few months. I am constantly on the search for normal people doing amazing things just because they run. Let us know how you get on with your half. Have the belief that you can do it and it will come.
@@Nathan_runsultras Will definitely keep listening great stories to keep the motivation up between runs.
I live at Tybee Island, which is near Savannah, GA USA. We are at sea level with no hills. I didn't know trail running is a thing, but from what you've said I believe I would love it. I'm thankful to run barefoot on the beach, so I'm not complaining whatsoever. But now I want to find a trail!!
Once you find a trail it will completely change your out look on why you run. It’s just beautiful. Let me know if you find one and how you feel running it. Running on the beach though sounds amazing.
Best video yet, absolutely loved this mate ❤❤❤❤❤❤ what a community
Cheers Lee. The full documentary comes out Saturday. That’s going to be something very special
Good luck brother, been on my bucket list for a few years too. ❤ what's better than saying you've run the length of your country
Exactly. I am just going to take each day slow and steady. Longer, slower, further days than Rhys and Allan.
Makes me happy and think of family
If you are struggling with your mental health please head to the link in description for help.
Everyone runs for a reason. Most people will say for mental health. This event was all about digging deep and thinking about why you actually run. By the end of the week everyone was a emotional wreck where we had all opened up to the demons of our past and embraced what’s around us now. If you need help with your mental health please get in touch with bigmoose www.bigmoosecharity.co/can-we-help
We all run for a number of different reasons, but one reason all comes up. Your mental health.
Love this
Ruined me. Felt great up until then.

Up until that point it was a nice run. 😂
