Compilation of Rust Cohle's Pessimistic Philosophy True Detective (Season One) Compiled by: Andrew Gardner I do not own the rights to the content herein.
He is missing a metaphysics of evil, christainty can help provide meaning in the face of all this suffering. This is what happens without jesus. The real mind virus is nihilism
I don't even remember how many times i was watched this tv show in the past over and over again I was born with self-hate and humans. This clip ssave me darkest night in the past Until and I accepted my suffering and let it be. thank you Rust for keeping me alive that darkest night and teaching me how to enjoy my endless self-inflected pain and suffering.
The fucking narcissism in this comment section is eye opening. Christ, it was a great show and a great script. You’re not smarter than the rest of us
Good ol rust....❤🤘
You will instantly be reborn after you die. It may take trillions upon trillions of years but it will feel instantaneous.
Rust. Solved the case!!!
Was he consciously explaining "a course in miracles"? it sure sounds like it... Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists... Herein lies the peace of God
I bare witness.
Oddly, many of his ideas are Buddhist ideas. Buddhists are the least pessimistic people I know.
Sars crank honesty up to 100 and humor down to 0
How dare y create this shit show, all these children in hell
You should of never have created me, I resent this, life, being put in this situation ill prepared
"Fuck, I don't wanna know anything anymore..."
this is a problem of smart people, dealing with politicians or police people, they are so ignorant that when they heard someone talking about a philosopher is laughin because of shame, it s same with other people, when you tell them that you read Schopanhauer a police man will think you are weird or insane, they don t read philosophy or history, they only have information but can t comprehend it, they start to record it or to register, like in this video the inspectors make eye contacts as if Rust Cohle is a madman but he knew. it happened to a lot of people especially professors who were dealing with police, they were recorder because they thought that people who read philosophy or mythology are mentally deranged, when you tell a so called rational logical man that someone like Nietzsche said that God is dead , they will think that you are insane or drunk or drugged
He's actually a great actor that doesn't get much respect. His scene in the Wolf of Wallstreet was awesome.
Pretentious philosophy
This is absolutely amazing!❤️
Truth is nobody cares be a pessimist, be an optimist. Nobody cares. But you should care about you. What kind of life/reality u want to experience? Blue or red pill? How do u play the game of life?
Just saw this, it’s 10 years old. Is this the first time I’ve seen it? Or is it, just the first time again? The question I seem to reflect on is: Do I exist, somewhere else, at the same time? Do I exist Now, in the present, and in other dimensions collectively? Not sure where I heard this movie quote, but…… “Who you are is none of your goddamn business.” If you know, let me know…. I ❤ Huckabees, maybe….. shit. Time looping makes me forgetful. 😮
Easily, one of the best TV shows, from writing to acting, ever made,.
tru
alright alright alright....
Oh this is where the "time is a flat circle" misinterpretation of Nietzsche's eternal recurrence comes from
4:53 this reminds me of Batailles analysis of that death by a thousand cuts dead vietnam man
I thik he is depressed
Rust is right. Intelligence is a burden.
Ecclesiaste 1 from the Bible
He's not wrong. Also subtly hinting at Sam Tuttle I think.
Never trust a pessimist.
"and I lack the constitution for suicide." It takes commitment. Without a gun, it takes REAL commitment.
I didnt understand Rust when I watched this as a kid but now as a 30 year old alot resonates with me
What a character. Something I can point people toward when explaining my view of humanity. "This is a world where nothing is solved."
I dont know
He’s not crazy he’s just too smart for this current planet.
This show introduced me to Alexandra Daddario.
That was the longest Lincoln commercial ever😂
I listen to this as a guided meditation
again and again and again
None of what he thinks or feels, matters. It's all mental masturbation. All of that wondering, explaining, discovering, mourning, etc. It doesnt matter. No need for self-torture.. You are the person thinking your thoughts. You are here, existing. Whever "here" is. It's like putting your hand on a hot stove. Then, leaving it there, while you ponder how sad it is, that you are being burned. While thinking about the nature of heat and it's effects on organic matter. While you burn. When, all you have to do, is take your hand off the stove. Put some ice on it and let it heal.
Had a profound message, then threw it away in the last scene.
3:36 I cant describe why but this is one of the most disturbing lines in the show
"Aluminum, ash". Like the tall boys a ciggies you been choking down Rustin?
The sad thing was, Rust was never a jar. Just an endless pit. Yet, it is up to oneself to decide the limit that qualifies as "bottom".
My dad always says there’s no such thing as closure. From what I’ve seen we might all be dead soon.
The Conspiracy Against the Human Race, is the book the writer took most of this from, Nic Pizzolato
Found this comment in the nick of time.
“So, death created time to grow the things that it will kill.” -Rust Cohle There’s no greater farmer than Death.
No matter how much this man hates the self-absorbed... he himself is the most self-absorbed in his theatrical preachiness.
Analysis Paralysis
The line about programming and lacking the constitution for suicide always hits me hard.
just finished s1. what the fuck is up with s2? I couldnt even get past the 2nd episode.
At least he kept a positive attitude
