Proving background independence of STRING THEORY
*Description*
This clip is from an upcoming podcast with Dr. Harold Erbin.
Proving that string theory is background-independent is a major success of string field theory. Dr. Harold Erbin explains which particular problems regarding background independence have been solved using string field theory.

    pushing electrical conductors into magnetic field ..'resulting in creation of gigantic current wrecking havoc in the magnetic field'.. would explain all the storms and weather destruction the whole world is experiencing today, all in the name of breaking that glass dome...Isn't string theory debunked?? They have been trying to work out how to displace the magnetic field for a while now..

      Underlying physics and intuition. Usually, rigorous mathematics start to become useful later in the development of a subject.

    Why actually you think University Physics is better than Halidey Resinick? The problems seem more difficult in Fundamentals of Physics isn't it a plus ?

    • @Phymaths
      @Phymaths 4 дня назад

      Well, firstly I disagree that problems are more difficult in HRK. I think that overall, the problems of HRK and University Physics are at the same level. The things that make me like university physics more are the explanations and illustrations. It isn't the case that HRK doesn't have explanations and illustrations. I just like the explanations and illustrations of university physics more than their counterparts in HRK.

    Personally, I string theorist need to get bold and start giving particular suggestions about what specific real world systems could be better understood with their ideas. I don't mean to be yet another youtuber commenter blindly parroting Woit. But, I do think string theorist have gotten a bit to comfy in their esoteric world and need to get dragged away from that and back towards, I mean its physics - number and measure, not just number is what it's about. I know it's easy for me to so casually talk about such a daunting task on the internet but I really say that concered about anti-academic backlash and physics research losing funding I'm actually quite confident something will come one day of insights like Witten's about langlands correspodence and strong weak coupling duality. Frankly what bothers me more than the slanderous extreme rhetoric often used by Woit and his ilk is that in response - String theorist seems afraid to put ideas out there and maybe actually be wrong.

    Very interesting analysis. Let's not forget that on another occasion the Nobel Committee did not award the Prize to a great Italian physicist, Beppo Occhialini. Despite Occhialini's fundamental and decisive contributions to the discovery of the Positron and the Pion, the Committee did not consider him, deciding to reward two other scientists. Occhialini's contributions to the discovery of these particles were unique and fundamental.

    • @Phymaths
      @Phymaths 3 дня назад

      Yeah of course. Nobel commitee has done similar blunders in its history. Not recognising Lise Meitner's contribution is another such example.

    Sir, people are saying and hypind Open AI o1 model no doubt its very advance and helpful. But some saying they are trying to generate String Theory and Quantum Gravity paper like this is too hype i dont think any AI o1 model or any don't have capabilities to generate completely original research paper on Quantum Gravity and String theory? What's your views sir? Could it generate and will it be so accurate and nice that it could be published. What's your views on it sir.. Learnt a lot from this Session.

    Can you please make a podcast with Prof. John W. Moffat? His theory ( STVG/ MOG theory) explains many results without incorporating dark matter or dark energy. The theory is good enough to eliminate the idea of dark sector.
