I am a working mother who studied harp professionally for years, but had to stop due to carpal tunnel and other trauma. I studied with Miss Lucile Lawrence at Boston University Tanglewood Institute for two separate 6week summers. I started in 6th grade.
Now I have two children and a wonderful husband who stays home with our youngest who is diagnosed with Niemann Picks type C. An extremely rare and fatal disease.
I have started playing more harp again recently to deal with the stress.
Please enjoy the music. It comes straight from my heart. I don’t want the stress of reading music and getting other people’s stuff wrong, so everything you listen to here (*unless otherwise mentioned) is original and likely made up on the spot.

#Upsee upstairs!
Happy New Year!
This has been a long coming dream of Clara’s. Almost every time we have gone to Nana’s, when she watches sister run up the stairs, she will say, “up?”
The stairs are right by the front door, so she sees the reminder every time we visit.
Before we learned about her disability, about the Niemann Picks type C (NPC), when she asked to go “up?” We would sometimes help her try to crawl up the stairs. (Sometime between age 1-2.)
I would have to tell her, not yet. We will get there, but not yet Sweetie.
Her bedtime book, Biscuit, has two pages with the characters climbing up the stairs, so it is something we talk about regularly. We’ve named the girl in the Biscuit books “Clara,” so ...

Clara had a cold, all through Christmas, but was getting better… Or so I thought. It’s a sinus infection now. Liquid antibiotics have sucrose. (Complex sugars cause diarrhea when combined with Miglustat.) so we can have capsules? Nope. Nothing fits with her age/weight. So we get pills. Big fat pills. Get a pill crusher, mash it, dissolve it, put it in a syringe for g-tube consumption. And I hav...

Christmas is usually overwhelming and exhausting. This Christmas, Clara is 🤧 sick. So we did not go anywhere, or do anything terribly taxing. So I thought well… at least it might be relaxing. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong, or if maybe I’m underestimating the effect of having a loved one pass five days before Christmas. But yeah, I’m not doing terribly well.

I’m looking at music on my stand but only playing a few bars before music moves me in a different direction. Thus, I am not going to site the music or composer, because I was not playing it remotely as written. This is another grief feels. Now my fingers are tingly sore and I need to get to bed. Please God, be with my Grandest, although I don’t think he believes, but let him feel that he is lov...

So much… it’s not sadness. So much grief. He is not yet gone, but I can’t be with him. I love you Grandest.

My Grandest, who walked me down the aisle is “transitioning” He is a man of few words who knows what to say and when to say it.

This is the 100th video I’ve recorded and posted. They are not all on this channel in case you were curious. I needed this tonight. Had a marvelous day celebrating Clara’s best friend’s fifth birthday. Clara had so much fun. No one even noticed when her second tooth fell out. It was in this morning when I brushed her teeth. Hopefully she spit it out somewhere (and ideally not in the public pool...
“You!” She says “You”!!!

I am so crazy excited that my 4-year-old just verbalized “You” no joke I’m so excited I’m crying as I type this. She loves birthdays, and we were practicing singing for her best friend’s birthday. I was hoping she would pick out a sign for her best friend’s name, so I’d say “happy” when she signed “happy”I’d say “birth…” when she signed the first part of “birthday” then after “day” I’d provide ...
I've never enjoyed watching someone climbing down the stairs this much! ❤
I hope sweet Clara feels better soon.
@@MiriamsMusicRoom Thank you Miriam! I hope you are having a healthy and peaceful holiday season. Your Christmas recordings are lovely and have been filling our home with joy this Christmas! ❤️🎄🎁
Thank you for sharing this. I hope his transition is/was smooth.
@@shawnedwards5369 you are welcome Shawn. Thank you for the comment. I think his transition was smooth. Apparently I was the last person he spoke with or to. It was challenging understanding him, because his voice was very muddled, but I think that after I told him what an inspiration he was, he told me that in fact it was I who was his inspiration. 😥🥲🥰🥲 I will be strong. You never know who you might be inspiring.
appreciate your music! It's filled with so many emotions. Hope you feel better
@@artbysemih8126 Thank you Semih! I am glad to see that others can feel the emotion too. I almost always feel at least a little better after playing harp. But these particular emotions are likely going to take some time to work through.
Adorable!!
Such a beautiful child. ❤xx
Dear of her ❤️ welldone clara
Look at you go, girls! Mama and Clara are walking together so strong!

@@quintingreen3489 Thank you!
“Maybe she knows this song so much she doesn’t have to look at the keys.” So pretty!
Love the music and the message. I see you and I’m with you!
Thank you Alicia! ❤ yep. Life is hard. Emotions are hard, but they are like waves, they have peaks. I’m learning to notice the peak and comfort myself on the way toward calm.
What a beautiful piece. I can feel the power. Sending love and support to both of you. I believe with you. ❤️
@@lishashell Thank you. There is power in belief and the more souls putting love and energy into it the more powerful it becomes. Another day another step growing stronger.
Love the peaceful flow of this piece
@@aliciajohnson1648 Thank you!
Hi Michelle! Your video made my day and lifted me to such a higher place. Thank you so much for posting this beautiful piece of inspiring music. You are very gifted. Such a blessing you are. Never stop. I know being a musician is not easy and sometimes very frustrating, but without people like you, the world would not be as beautiful. Thanks again! Many blessings always to you and your family!
@@polinazdramatazidia5158 wow! Thank you so much for this comment ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️ This comment has made my day!
You did just tune it but just dropped it on the floor? Next time feel free to stop filming and re tune then re shoot. That way we can hear the harp in tune!
Yes, but unfortunately I didn’t have a significant amount of time to trial it. We don’t live close. But yes, apologies! I really wanted to
You can feel the stress in this piece, towards the end it felt like a sense of relief. Glad you are ok
Thank you @CarolineWeharp. I’m glad you could hear the relief. I certainly felt it.
Soo sweet, I hope she has a lot of fun playing it.
camera position causes eye stress.
Yes, I am aware. Apologies for the stress it caused. I shall avoid this angle in the future. Thank you for sharing your thought.
Oh, Alyvia
It's lovely, Michelle!

Very beautiful, you seem to actually 'feel' the music ... and then breathe it out, making it audible.
This is a good description! Thank you Karli34!
@@michellebattles3491 - Forgot to mention that I really like this beautiful tune. I guess it's your own creation ... 'just playing' ... !? 🙃
