Tiger 900 VS KTM890r On Rutted Trail | I Failed The Tiger
Welcome back to Apple Valley Moto everyone. Today I meet up with a friend riding a KTM 890r, and we head out to tackle a local powerline trail. I got in way over my head and my skill level in this one. The Tiger gave me some trouble, but ultimately, I failed with my limited skill. I fall into some serious ruts and rode away with some nasty bruises. It is all part of the fun right? Time to build...
How Good Is The Tiger 900 Rally Pro Stock Lighting??
Come ride with me as I talk about the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro stock lighting. With the Rally Pro, you get the extra accessory pod light on the crash bars that really make a difference, especially off road. I do plan on adding more lighting, such as some amber colored pods. Lighting can both help illuminate the trail, and provide an extra layer of protection and help you been seen better. Le...

SOLVED??! Triumph Tiger heat issue | Do the deflectors work?
The Triumph Tiger is well known for the engine heat being too intense on riders legs. It is a huge factor as to why people steer away from this adventure bike. Triumph STILL has not fixed this problem, however, you can purchase heat deflectors that help. Unfortunately, the deflectors don't take the heat completely away. What they do is take the main blast off the knee. In doing this, it improve...

What side bags are you using? Do they need racks?
@fjeewani tusk pilot panniers, yes they need racks but I got ones off of ebay that are a little smaller that the ones that you can get specifically for these. The ones I got are cheaper and smaller because I sometimes run smaller nelso rig bags. But these bags have been flawless and have held up very well I am very happy with them. For the price you really can't beat the Tusk Pilot Panniers. Check em out at Rocky Mountain Atv/mc.
That look when you said ... take the skid plate off was killer....😅
@@fjeewani thank you
You should give LEATT a try
@PizzaPete-jl7zp I'm hoping to, bit expensive for the new stuff lol
Your belly is making this jacket uncomfortable. Lose the belly, increase the comfort
Easier said than done my guy! Lol
Heat coming off my Tiger 850's radiator has never been a problem for me, funnily enough. In fact, I feel more heat coming off my wife's Trident 660.
@kkhalifah1019 seems as though it's split, some people feel it and some don't, it's strange.
I‘ve had zero problem with the heat because I bought a 1200 GT Pro instead. 😂
Great video. I love my KLR. Finally got new tires on it.

Overpriced! (he can charge what he wants of course). I went through and 3d printed my own concepts and the only way I could actually make it work, well it looked ugly. FYI, these do not do much of anything in 95* weather, live in Florida and have tested. Just wear pants with knee protection and you wont feel the heat.
@@trilaxx They certainly do more than the little metal ones! Much more comfortable for me. Thanks for watching!
What do your deflectors look like? I'm interested to see all designs. I personally don't mind the heat don't notice it too much. But a lot of people do so I'm curious to see what people come up with.
I love mine. They're round but I still love them.
Would also help if I could just keep the bike upright! Lol
Get ya some
Got me some
Definitely worth the money! Get ya some!
At 6'2" my knees get cooked, even at 70F ambient temperature. This is the hottest motorcycle I have ever ridden in 50 years of riding. Didn't feel it on the test ride.
Why didn't you specify what you wanted on the bike before you took delivery?
@S2Wiley even if done that way, it will still cost extra money. The point of the video is to discuss what I didn't like about the stock bike. I love this bike, these videos are meant to help people make informed decisions.
Sounds like you didn't do your research before you overpaid for your bike.
@@Nigriff naaa still worth the money
You fell because of poor line choice and zero speed.
@heimdall4148 went too fast at first and got distracted, slid into the rut and when I tried to get out I had no footing. But yes 100% my fault.
Had a Tiger XCx and had to sell it because of the the riding I do,and bought a 23 890r.Triumph has a good motor and is good on the highway, but a little top heavy for me.

@thelonewolf666 I have been scouring dealerships for an answer on when we will get them. I have only heard 1 dealership even say the expect one in. For some reason they are not coming to my state yet. But, I definitely want to try one out.
@@thelonewolf666 also heard KTM is revealing a 390 Enduro R at EICMA... definitely want to check that out too
Having spent a lot of time on both bikes I can tell you they are more than capable of handling this terrain. Attitude is everything. Confidence will come with seat time. Some training might help a lot. The most important thing is to just keep riding and having fun.
FYI those seal savers are garbage, they actually cause damage for the forks.
@Dobemandan yea? I've used the zip up ones too on dual sports, was just curious about how they would work on the bigger bikes.
@@MotoInTheValley Dirt gets trapped under the seal saver and damages the fork tubes. Better to use nothing.
@@Dobemandan Very true do not use seal savors
Your lack of skills is the problem not the bikes fault.
@trevorsims6509 100%... I jokingly blamed the bike but stated I need to build my skills in the video. Thanks for watching.
I was up for the challenge. However, learned quickly that it's not much fun on the bigger bike lol. I'll wait until I have another smaller dual sport.
Too many regulations, but yes it must be a restriction here in the US. Glad your enjoying the bike! Thanks for watching.
I've been there, when I first started riding.
Overall he did great, and he only went down because it was all loose gravel...
But why are you falling so much buddy? 😅
@@bigwoodsoutdoors55 Did you see the size of those ruts?!?! Lol couldn't balance the bikel good enough on the ridge
I have the same tiger model and the same problema offroad. I think it’s because tigers rake angle isn’t so good to off road. I I’m going to keep mine, I’m gonna try a bar riser to bring the bar closer to me. Have you adjusted the suspension to offroad?
@alexandrexavier I have heard the rake angle is not ideal for offroad. But the bar position definitely helps. I moved it back and it made a world of difference.

I have the same tiger model but I love it off road! The only no major issue is the 17 inch rear wheel! Don't buy raisers unless you are +2m tall, get some training and improve your attack posture.
Looks like that hurt man
Walking a little funny today 😄
All part of the game my friend
@PizzaPete-jl7zp that it is, I've been lucky not to get injured. I have kept it upright for the most part but today was just too much.
What a day!! These stock crash bars are awesome!!!
Oh damn. That's hideous! Appreciate the video. It saved me from making a big mistake.
Hahaha the seat itself? Or my poor job getting the cover tight? If I could do it again I would try a different brand.
@@MotoInTheValley I think it's probably worth paying the extra money for a seat that's fully completed. I was checking out these covers as well, but I know I wouldn't do any better of a job - so I'm glad I saw this first.
@@charlesm.2756 I agree
Yes this has been my experience too. The extra heat on the left is due to the radiator design. Stay tuned for another video, I got a nice surprise. Thanks for watching!
So what type of rack do you have the Tusk bags attached? Any tips/hints on getting the Tusk bags secured? Thx - nice video
@scottkisner8737 I bought these off of Ebay, they are smaller so I can fit my 15L bags on them as well. They are a cheap price but they have worked flawless so far. I just wrapped the panniers straps around and through the holes. I plan on doing a full review soon. Link is below. Thanks for watching www.ebay.com/itm/185430271618
@scottkisner8737 The bags do wiggle a little bit, it's hard to get the straps cinched down real tigh, but it has not been an issue you don't notice it and again there has been no wear or fraying in the straps so far.
Yes it is!! Stock lights are pretty dang good.
Looks sweet at night!
Yes it does!!

Any update on how you like your Seat Concepts seat?
@andylomerson2797 SO....... I absolutely loved it, at first. It was very comfortable and did take away that slant of the stock seat. For some reason, and maybe it's all in my head, but lately I find it very difficult to get comfortable on the seat. It could have just broken in and now I don't like it as much? I really don't know, but it's not as good as I expected it to be. If I were to do it all over again, I might not do it. Or, I might try a different brand. However, I have logged a bunch of 8 hour days on this seat and that says a lot.
Thanks a lot for the super fast reply. You got a new subscriber! That’s a shame about the seat not holding up, but you are right: 8 hour days and a lot of aggressive riding sounds like you got your money’s worth. I 100% agree about the OEM slant. It just constantly squishes your boys up against that front curve. I tried a Sargents seat, but for some inexplicable reason it has a very uncomfortable seam right in the middle of your cheeks. I sent it back immediately. I’m just looking for a flatter, more rally like seat. No luck yet. But anyways, I just found your channel and you’ve got great content. I have a 2020 rally pro in the dark green. Love it! Take care and ride on!
Not only do you own a two wheel ATV…YOU are an ATV, A-thenticity, T-ransparency, V-ulnerability=a genuine man…and that’s a rare breed by today’s standards👍 Mark Twain once remarked, “the two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you discover why”…myself, I found true life in Christ…and that certainly answered the “why” part of “life”…that’s been almost 4-decades ago…and, I am thankful to say that even with all the tsunamis of life, I have had a peace that surpasses all human understanding…again, not without trying & turbulent times, but, navigating through them with a sense of security in the God Almighty✝️ Thanks much for a refreshingly-real video❗️

Much appreciated your assessment of this ‘cicle👍 I own the ‘22 900gt…and based on my personal experience-your commentary nails-it 👍#2 In my 67 years of riding many a-bike, I haven’t found one that tops it-and, in virtually every category…I’ve owned bikes that were twice the price of this 900 that didn’t give me the satisfaction that I have enjoyed on this 2-wheeler. I have added numerous upgrades to my own tailoring…the one that truly transformed the experience for me was the Scorpion Exhaust…this yowling Tiger sounds like a road-rager on ‘roids, however, NOT with an overly obnoxious sound decibel level…it brings out the beast in this steel-steed-triple-and it is simply intoxicating 😮 Best to you in your motorbiking adventures as you continue to roll-on into throttle therapy🤩
@benbianchi3074 been contemplating an exhaust, just wasn't sure if it would be worth the money! Maybe I will give it a try. Thanks for watching!
That’s one of those personal decisions that falls into the category of “priorities”…if you want to be able to hear the semi-unbridled yowl out of that triple-that’ll do it❗️
How is the jacket so far? I see reviews online saying that it doesn't breathe very well despite being mostly mesh. Do you feel like that's the case?
@Tougestar With all the liners out, and having just the mesh outer jacket it breathes just fine. Once you put it the rain liner, it feels a bit uncomfortable.
Triumph filters are even more universal than that! They're identical in all ways to the filters used by Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha, maybe others as well. (Last I checked, Suzuki used a slightly different one.) I bought a case of good-quality ones for a Honda 500 several years ago and am still using them, 3 bikes later.
Interesting, thanks for watching!
