That backup fuse is for memory of your radio, alarm and anything that needs memory for it to work when you start up the car or when you turn the key to ON position.

So theres a short somewhere it will happen again. Something behind your dash the radio maybe

HOLLY SHIT YES!!! I <3 you my dude! I didn't have the problems leading up to the exact failures we both had. All I did was plug in the stock wiring harness BACK in after having it unplugged for a short time to solder it up to the new head unit wiring harness, because I was worried leaving it UNPLUGGED for extended periods of time would drain the battery, which I had that happen on multiple occasions, probably a security feature of some sort. Anyways like I said, I re-plug the stock wiring harness for the head unit until I had time to solder it to the new head unit harness, and all hell broke lose. NO more dome lights when car door opened without key in ignition, remote key lock/unlock stopped working, no more flashing red security alarm light on dash (Possibly no more car alarm at all) and the new head unit wouldn't turn on at all once I did get around to soldering it's harness into the stock harness (Still haven't had time to test out if I'll get power for it now since I change the "BACKUP" blown fuse out. But once that specific "BACKUP" fuse was replaced everything else works now!!! I'm sure the head unit will as well once I get around to that. THANKS AGAIN MY DUDE, I was literally hours away from just taking the car up to the dealership and paying them a non refundable $200 for a wiring diagnostic for a 10cent FUSE!! You the REAL MVP!

That fuse should be removed before a radio swap, not really the radios fault. It’s designed to blow as a anti theft feature.

Appreciate the advice it helped my problem after my car was jump started it blew the fuse and now radio and door alarms and key fob works again.

They are putting so many electronics and touchscreens in Civics nowadays that it needs a truck battery.

Me problem is that alarm doest arm.. only works with pánic bottom.... And battery drain in two days...

Thanks. I didn't have the radio problem, but my dash lights started going all haywire, flickering, "glitching", said I was going 0mph, gas gauge went to empty even though full tank, when I turned on headlights the radio light would dim. THEN, the speedometer light wouldn't turn OFF after shutting off engine and removing key, shut door..... just stayed on which would drain battery. ANYWAY.......... I tried replacing the 10amp backup fuse and SO FAR.... seems to have done the trick. I was worried I wouldn't be able to make it to work in the morning with a dead battery! THANK YOU for the video!!!!!!

Wow. After 2.5 years. I finally found the solution. I’ll make sure to share this video with the people in the car forums that were trying to help me fix this issue.

Exactly the reason i dont want to put projection lights or a screen radio on my civic, because it might cost me headaches and money, remember the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.
