    Finland does have pre-school at maybe age 4 or 5 or so though. It sounded like it was quite spot on video. Something that bothered me from the start: despite you having like a perfect english accent and none of the usual traits of finns speaking english, it still made me think "this is a finn speaking perfect english in a pretty heavy accent" and it's so confusing because I can't explain why. It just felt like it made sense after you said you're half and half.

    American English is having an influence on British English lately.many Brits are using Americanism such as dating someone,hiring someone or watching movies.

    As a Finn I am quite fluent in English language and culture but I never know how often I should repeat the word "please". Someone should make a video about it. I'll subscribe now, thanks for the fun videos.

    • @glasnikov
      @glasnikov 6 лет назад

      "about it" meant that imagine when you are in a pub. "A glass of wine please. And some water please." I got laughed at for over using that word :)

      I was in Toronto once. Spent quite some time at the bar counter and always making my orders with a "please". One time I then said "could I have a glass of wine, please... oh, and a glass of water". They said "you forgot to say please". To this day I don't know if they were joking or not.

    I have an idea about the issue you mentioned on the video that homes are are tidier in Finland than UK. That is that people here in Finland spent more time indoors especially during winter time so it is quite essential to keep your house in order. On the other hand in UK I think people spend more time outdoors so it is does not feel so important to have everything order at home. And that has grown into cultural thing during the time I guess in both countries.

    • @thensome1690
      @thensome1690 6 лет назад

      That´s a very good point indeed. Probably also helps that Finnish homes are slightly larger than British homes, on average. Larger homes are easier to clean, and smaller homes encourage their residents to spend time elsewhere :-)

    As a British Canadian who was married to a Finnish Canadian, I can attest that much of this is true, with a couple of major omissions....Finns drink a LOT more than the British, and while not publicly demonstrative of their emotions, they are rather more highly sexed than the Brits. Some of them (including my late husband) exude a weird, animalistic sexuality that I personally rather liked.

    I live in Finland, and if someone visits our home, they are asked if they want tea or coffee. I, myself, am a teadrinker, and in our family the children usually drink tea at breakfast, snacktime and at evening, and are not allowed to drink coffee before they're older- we don't want them to stay up too late and lose sleep.

    When you mentioned 'British', you forgot about Scots. I have admit that Finns and the Scots are eerily similar in some ways. A lot more in common than w/ English, no offense...

    • @thensome1690
      @thensome1690 7 лет назад

      Very true, I love Scotland and the Scots, and along with the Danes, I think they do indeed fall somewhere in the middle between Finns and the English. My own experience of living in the UK has always been down south, so I have encountered the more polar opposites of the spectrum ;-)
