    Great video Tony. I always wondered the difficulty in refurbing a barrel and you made it look like something I could do. I have a barrel set aside for some wine I'm making and if her insides look poor, I now know what to do...

    Tony, I just revisited your video to brush up and remind me of barrel restoration. Over the past 4 years, I've redone 6 barrels of various sizes. I'm about to redo a 30 gallon French oak. Thanks, again!

    I saw this when you first posted and am only now getting around to building one. I’ve made a solo stove table out of 1 x 4s and it’s worked so far without any damage from heat. But this is much nicer. My plan is to make four legs out of 2 x 2 steel square stock welded together, and powder coated. I’m also hoping to bury the bolts into the cement before it hardens….

    HOw well has this held up in the long run? We just one a Yukon Solo Stove in a raffle, and I want to landscape an area for it/ build or buy a surround for it also. Yours looks to be fairly straight forward and simple design.

    Can I do this project with a friend or do I have to do it Solo? Do I have to use Heavy Metal polish or is there a Kenny G polish I could try? Also, I prefer to not grind from an angle as I have hip issues. Is the angle necessary? Thanks in advance.

    I used one to control a ghost controls gate. It behaves as a push button which is actually just closing a circuit just like a relay. You will see 2 channels marked no for normally open, which is what my gate wants, and one channel is nc for normally closed. It's just a relay to trigger a monitored circuit in your device. Or do anything else you can do with a low current relay (like trigger a high current relay). In other words, you don't need to match voltage on your device, it's presumably looking for a dumb momentary switch on the wall.

    Tony, just did your steps today on a 4yo Yukon Solo. Never been deep cleaned. Amazing how well it turned out. Mine looked similar to yours and now outside is brand new. It burns so well now and the steps are pretty easy if you take your time and do small sections. Sharing with all my Solo mates.

    Why would you clean the inside?

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597 2 года назад

      2 reasons. 1. This was during one of the lockdowns, so why not clean a fire pit. 2. There was so much stuff in there, I was thinking that the cleaner it is, the cleaner the chamber between the inner and outer wall where the secondary burn happens. Probably not necessary but it’s always fun the clean dirty stuff.

    Need a little advice even after watching the michael builds video. Do you spray/saturate the top w water for an hour? I missed that step and table was cracked in 8 big chunks. I also didn't see any videos where he used the fiber glass so I tried without it but will retry with it. Good thing mold is reusable.

    • @tonycampanella4597

  • @barryschwartz3984
    @barryschwartz3984 2 года назад

    2 questions - why use mortar mix vs concrete? Did you use the same 4 foot diameter for the yukon and make the middle bigger? Not finding stock pieces larger than 4X8

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597 2 года назад

      Barry - exactly- can’t go more than 4 feet because of the plywood base. It works out fine anyway. Did one for my friend that has a Yukon. Looks great. In terms of concrete- I think going 5000 psi would be great also. Keep the mix on the dryer side. I follow “Michael’s Builds” and went with what he goes with. Good luck
