Semi decent percussionist here, just given this timpani part (defintely the most intensive part I've had to play). I notice in Q of the fourth movement you're playing the Ab and G on the same drum, is there a very fast tune that we can't see in the video? If there is, where in the piece do you choose to make this move? Looking for some advice because these rolls at the end will be the death of me

I really want to play timpani but I think it is not possible if you are not a professional musician or a student.

I already played this symphony of Dvorak and i used flanels mallets in the third movement, but the alternative of felt is good too !

Could almost pass as a Concerto for Timpani & Orchestra. Unmistakable echoes of his Symphony No 1 in earlier parts. Love the way he has to calm his back drums every time he does his rolls. And nice to see Sibelius without his usual fat marble head!
