Of course you can define tools as being only physical tools. That is an absolutely legitimate approach, which could score just as highly as considering conceptual tools.

It's a matter of nuance. You don't have to signpost every single thing (they should be able to identify the knowledge argument). However, using the terms evaluation & implication a few times in the right places should make it easier for the examiner.

It's impossible to give absolute definitive answers - all essays are different. It very much depends on the structure and development of your particular essay. You can get much more definitive feedback from a teacher looking at your specific essay.

There's no hard & fast rule as to how many different points of view you should include. A range of multiple perspectives that allow for a "clear, coherent, & critical exploration of the PT" is the unsatisfactory answer. Maybe as a starting point go for 2-3 evaluation points for each AoK, at least one should be illustrated with an example.

For each evaluation point should it be like one whole paragraph? so in total the essay would have 6 evaluation paragraphs ideally or am I misinterpreting something? I am also doing two implication paragraphs, one for each AOK. For now in terms of evaluation paragraphs I have 3 for the first AOK (NATURAL SCIENCES) and 0 for the second AOK (HUMAN SCIENCES). I have written an evaluation paragraph for Biology and then an evaluation paragraph for Physics. Each evaluation paragraph following the respective discipline's explanation and evidence. Then an overall evaluative paragraph of the entire AOK 1.

You need to keep within the 1600 word limit whilst also covering both AoKs, so 6 evaluation paragraphs is probably too many. There's no single definitive structure that works for all essays, it very much depends upon the arguments that you are developing in your essay, and how you have developed them. Yes - you could certainly argue that models that seem initially 'wrong' may become more accepted as more evidence is collected. However, the more pertinent issue is whether the model can actually be 'wrong' at all. Just because collected evidence in that one scenario does not align with the model doesn't necessarily mean that the model is wrong. It depends on a range of factors such as intentions of the model producers & users, context, expectations etc etc

Thanks for the comment, and the 'useful' question. You could explore the relationship between the two AoKs, particularly the use of mathematical models in AoK Human Sciences. IMO there's a lot of scope to discuss how mathematical models are produced in a largely hypothetical framework that requires interval, or ordinal, classes. However, they may be limited when applied to the Human Sciences which can be more qualitative in nature. As such, the mathematical model may shape the labelling, categorisation and interpretation of human scientific knowledge. This would then have to be applied to the question of whether this makes the model "wrong but useful" - that's the real focus of the essay.

The question asks "how can we reconcile..," therefore, a good response will refer to the means by which we reconcile the relentless drive with finite resources. These means could be knowledge means rather than practical means (e.g. innovation in knowledge rather than rationing resources). If this constitutes a "method", then yes provide a method. However, you may want to question whether the assumptions in the question are given (as part of the evaluation).

It's a good question. How is anything "knowledge" or known ? Vinyl is a method of storing artistic knowledge, but then is the vinyl knowledge itself ? I know that I have a vinyl record. Does the vinyl record constitute knowledge, or is my awareness of its existence knowledge ? - you get to discuss all of this, and more in your ToK essay. This is why I love ToK ! Many thanks for your thoughtful & reflective comment. I absolutely agree that education is the best (only?) hope for humanity. One of the increasing problems I see is the use of labels. We label ourselves and others, which not only increases division, but decreases nuance. It's better not to see the world as a set of in & put groups, but as a vast spectrum of complex inter-related views. Thanks for your support, and best wishes for your essay !

There isn't a hard & fast rule, you should do what works best for you. Personally, I would use an example in which someone demonstrated the extraordinary from what others perceive to be mundane. e.g. Darwin developed a theory of adaptiveness from the shape of birds beaks. Another example: Lowry created beautiful paintings of factories, and factory workers going to work.

Thanks for the question, an insightful question. "Do" questions can legitimately lead to a conditional response (e.g. "yes in these cases..., but no in these cases....,"). However, of more pertinence is the word "always"in the question. "Always" requires a response, is the relationship between tools & knowledge absolute, or is it conditional ?

Generally students use the same examples year after year, that's fine. It's how you use the examples that's important. Ensure that you use your own words when writing them up, don't copy my wording.

It very much depends on the structure of your essay. 3 "big" knowledge claims will be sufficient as long as you discuss smaller knowledge claims (knowledge issues) arising from the big 3 in the evaluation of the main claims. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the comment. In KC#3 we're proposing that a SoW involves a personalised experience, an experience that is unique to the knower, or small knowledge community. It hasn't been labelled nor categorised by others, as such it is yet to be 'defined' by others. Definition by others is a form of control. As such, knowledge can be thought of as a form of imposed control. On the other hand a SoW can be thought of as less controlled, created by the knower, and maybe hybrid, or aggregative. Essay #1 has an instruction to discuss with reference to history & the human sciences. Essay #2 (Revered & Fragile Knowledge) has an instruction to refer to "the arts and one other area of knowledge".

There's no prescribed min/max amount. However, if you start by writing 1 main claim for each AoK, and then developing smaller claims from the big ones you'll be on the right track.
