    Hi Lee. Sorry to bring up an old thread (again lol) you really shouldn’t make addictive videos 😂, but can I ask what kit you used for this? I’ve noticed there are a few variations of this kit out there and some say the UK variation of the model had raised panel lines and not sunk like the US kit? Was it the same kit they used for the ROTJ filming miniatures? Cheers mate, Kris.

    • @fxmodelminiatures3175

      It's the non snap fit kit as far as I know mate. It was originally a white molded model depicting it as Luke Skywalkers X wing, but later reboxed in the ROTJ packaging. As far as I know just avoid the "its a snap" model and the pro shop version, and your good.

      Honestly don't varnish. It really screws with the hues and saturates weathering and staining. That said, if it's decal sealing your looking at, I think Mr Color do a fantastic clearcoat. But I can't remember the last time I used a clearcoat solely for paint work. Hope that helps.

    • @fxmodelminiatures3175
      @fxmodelminiatures3175 Год назад

      @midrifter8008 I'll definitely thin the paint more when I need to work up close, but not too much. Lowering pressure to maybe 15 psi for some areas. Always have a piece of styrene to hand etc that you can dial in what technique you're trying to accomplish if you are unsure. I think my Iwata is maybe 0.3? Don't really pay attention to any of that lol.

I didn’t get much sleep the night before so I wasn’t on my game. I was tired and anxious and probably should’ve just put it off until I was in the right head space. Cheers, Lee! The biggest adjustment for me has been two-fold. The first is it’s not a one and done process. Building up layers for the base is a big change. The other is that it seems like there’s a different paint/thinner ratio for different colors. I’ve started taking notes as I’ve found the ones that work best for me.
