March Reading Journal Update: Filling in the month's stats and updating my journal.
Hello, Heather! Always a 👍👍 when you post a video! Hope you feel better soon 🤒 All the best to you through whatever else bothers you HAPPY READING 📚 ✌️😃
Thanks Albert, much better now!
Your journal is so cute! 😩✨️❤️
Thank you!!!
Hey Heather! I really love this project 🎉. Maybe I will try to do this as well in 2025. It would be pretty amazing to know that you’ve read a book from every single country in the world. :-) I have had “before the coffee gets cold” in my library holds so I’m really looking forward to that one once it becomes available. I’m glad you enjoyed the books that you read from Japan so far and I’m looking forward to see what your picks will be for the rest of the year. On another note, I haven’t touched my reading journal since March lol. I think I’m going to make it a lot simpler for 2025 as well 😂. Also, I finished the first two books in the Amulet series and really enjoyed them! I can’t wait to stop by the library to see if they have any more. 😊 hope you have a great reading month!
Please join my fun!! The lovely thing about a reading journal is that it will be there when you are ready to come back and won't judge you :). Have fun with it... simplify is always a positive choice :). I wish I could loan you my Amulet series- hope you have success in finding them! I love how much my students are still discovering it and enjoying it. Wishing a beautiful November filled with cozy vibes and good books my friend.
For Japan, I suggest - Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa and Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto. Read both books this year and Sweet Bean Paste was a 5 star for me. I loved Before the Coffee Gets Cold, the series is formulaic but still enjoyable 🙂
Thank you for the suggestions- I found Sweet Bean Paste at the library!! I'm excited to try it.💛
Haha i found your RUclips miss posttile wait hehehe
Glad you found me! Hope you enjoy these reads!

Hello, Heather! This idea would be great for a Book Club 😮. I'm a lover of Before the Coffee Gets Cold. I got the whole series, but have only read the first. 🥲☕️☕️ I was hoping the wheel would land on France. There's a play called Art by Yasmina Reza. It came out in the early 90s. The backstory was about materialism getting out of hand. People were buying things like art just to brag what they spent. The play is such a dry comedy. This guy tells his friend the painting he bought is @#$% and we go on from there 😂 HAPPY READING 📚 ✌️😃
Oh- I like this idea- what kind of book club?? I am totally open to a buddy read of the 2nd Coffee book... once I hit France- you are going to remind me of this book right???? :)
@@pageswithpostelwait9720 I guess you'd call an International Book Club. People reading books from around the world. 🌎🌍🌏 🙂 I've never done a buddy read with a fellow booktuber. You'd have to show me how this works 🤗 As for France...oui, mademoiselle. I can speak French, so I can help you out. ✌️😃
@@AlbertTheConjugator I'm gonna put some thought into that... there used to be a group I was a part of called Invisible Cities- it was a huge world wide group that read a country each month... they shut down last year. But I know there are tons of people out there with similar goals :)🌎📚
This is perfect! I liked Small Spaces, but I wanted to read something a TINY bit scarier. 🎃 I’ll definitely be checking out all of your 👻👻👻👻👻 recommendations! Thank you!
I'm so glad! I hope they hit your scary zone :)
Nice post. FYI - I included a bit about "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" book being banned in the past in "Margaret Hamilton From Cleveland Ohio to the Land of Oz." Margaret was passionate about her opposition to books being banned and spoke out about it. She was also a teacher before she was an actress.
Thank you for that - I didn't know that! I will put The Wonderful Wizard of Oz on my list- I've wanted to read it for years :)
I love your banned book stickers. I need to do that for my reading journal since I didn't set up a page for banned books.
I had so much fun with that one! Thank you. You do need a page for that!!
Nice video! Thanks for the recos :)) im new to your channel. Also i have to say, you're so pretty!! ❤ And that headband looks cute on you. You should get those metal zig zag headbands btw, they'll really suit you. Cant wait to watch more of your vids Xoxo ❤
Welcome and thank you- I hope you enjoy middle grade books :) I love headbands :P
@@pageswithpostelwait9720 same girl! Then check out the ones I told you, you'll love them :))
Thanks for all three recommendations and videos!
I would love to hear what you read and what your thoughts on those!!
@pageswithpostelwait9720 During banned book week, I read The Prince and the Dressmaker and loved it! The same with They Called Us Enemy. I also read Midnight in the Garden of God Evil, challenged in a ND school district for being pornographic - a drag quee does discuss how shes gets ready to perform, but that's about it. It was a good true crime book, but definitely for mature readers (I think my 16 yr old could read it). I also read A Court of Thorns and Roses. I'm not sure why it was sold as YA. I think new adult is a better category, but once again, depends in the reader. I've just started Damsel. My library did have it. I'll report back. I had the chance to get Monster at a library book sale, but didn't know what it was. I'll have to look out for it again. Looking forward to your next video!
@@mbbertram3605 Oh you are doing great!! New Adult and YA need to get their differences worked out... I think that would solve so many issues... I am gonna look for Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil! Oh- can't wait to chat about Damsel LOL
@pageswithpostelwait9720 the audio of Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil is pretty good. The narrator did really well differentiating the Southern accents by class & race. Written in 1994 about a murder in Savanah, GA in the early 80's.
@pageswithpostelwait9720 I finished Damsel. It was difficult and made me uncomfortable, but I'm glad I read it. I think? I was not expecting the ending. I'm glad she was able to free herself, but was the violence necessary? I'm sure I will be thinking about this one for a while.
Great discussion! I loved these books. I completely agree with all your points about why banning books is so devastating. I can remember reading books in middle school that I probably shouldn’t have read that my friend snuck me and I swear, I devoured them and it really instilled my love of reading for years to come. Perfect points made. This banning of books is so disgusting to me 😩.
Thank you- so agree, so many books I could point to that helped shape me as a reader and maybe weren't ones my folks knew anything about lol! At least we are all in good company fighting this good fight!
Hello, Heather! Is it me or am I missing something? Is the United States the only country where the citizens do most of the banning instead of the government 🤔? The citizens at least seem to initiate the bans. HAPPY READING 📚 ✌️😃
Hey Albert- I am thinking you are on to something- governments usually have a hand in book banning in a large portion of the countries around the world for all kinds of reasons... our freedom of speech right seems to put a damper on government interference here for now... key ominous music... 🎹🎹🎹 Currently the vast majority of these bans are citizens petitioning school districts and public libraries to censor or change locations for certain books... Wishing you some Happy Reading as well!! 📚
Good video 📸
That's next on my list. I may not get to it this week, though. I'm in the middle of The Prince & The Dressmaker. So much fun. Sadly, this is the second year in a row our Library Trustees have not allowed our public library to have banned book week displays. They say it only causes controversy. 🤦
WOW! I am so sad your library doesn't participate! I understand the pushback but sad. I'm so excited you are gonna read this one!!
Ms. Postelwait are you Skibidi please tell me 😢
You can let me know if I am skibidi but this book is W Aura.
I need to know your My Teacher and tell me if you are Skibidi!!! 🚽🪠
I don't know that I am skibidi but these books are FIRE with Sigma W Aura! You should read them :)
Hello, Heather! Isn't it funny how people choose what they wanna ban? Fortnite is too big and 💰💰💰 to ban. ✌️😃
SOOOOO true! crazy right??
Are you Skibidi. are you sigma Ms. Postelwait
You will have to decide if I am skibidi or sigma but the characters in this book have mad rizz.
Love all this healthy resistance to banned books, I feel so sorry for all you good people in the US having to live through such wretched times, as an outsider looking in the whole business seems totally incomprehensible. Stay strong, & keep resisting!
Thank you for sharing your support! We will absolutely keep resisting and read onward! :)
You were correct it was the first person you asked 🎉
In class 😄
Ms.postalwait guess what student I am in your class hint is I have blonde hair and always go to the bathroom in your class I’m in period 5
Glad you found me here- I'll guess in person to be safe! Did you see a book you might want to read?
So nice you found a new favorite of the year! I might look into Spirit Hunters for my daughter who loves scary stuff, so thank you for the recommendation 👻Sorry to hear Amulet didn’t quite wrap up in a better, more satisfying way :(. That’s always frustrating and I’ve definitely experienced that in some series before! Hope you had a great start to your school year!
Thank you!! Wishing you all a good school year as well!
Ms postelwait try to guess which student I am from your class 😄
Little hint period 3
@@bertazepeda3481 good hint! I think I know but I'll guess in class just to be safe :). Did you see a book you want to read?

Hello, Heather ✌️😃 That Garlic and the Vampire does indeed sound cute. I have a little niece now who may like it 👍
Everyone who has read it has said it was cute so I hope your niece likes it!!
Hello
hello- welcome 📚
Hi Miss postelwait
Hi Miss postelwait
Interesting. I can't decide if i want to try it. I'll let you know what I decide.
Well, my library doesn't have it. Shoot.
@@mbbertram3605 I found it on Libby if you have that through your library... I'm not sure if I want to recommend this one :) but I am looking at another of her books to give her one more try- it is a red riding hood off shoot and I am curious...
@@pageswithpostelwait9720 I've marked it as "notify me" on Libby for my library. I think they have her red riding hood one, I'll try that one.
I read this book less than 3 hours and I’m 14 years old. I love fantasy and magical stuff but that ending wasn’t exactly necessary I feel
Thank you for sharing this!! You just proved why we shouldn't ban books- because each reader is so different and can handle things in different ways :). Oh that ending- sigh. Out of curiosity- did you like the book?
@@pageswithpostelwait9720 imma be honest I loved it till the ending
Hope you have a great year with your students! Thanks for sharing❤
Thank you Skye!!
Thank you for such a powerful review.
Thank you- I struggled with how raw to allow this one to be... I appreciate you saying that. ❤
Congratulations! Awesome!
Mascot is my choice!
Great Choice!!
Percy Jackson 👍
Love the Festival of Books too! The carousel sounds really interesting. I have not done that yet. Thank you for all the great videos!
I love listening to all your videos.
Aww - thank you! ❤
best scholastic book i ever got was in 5th grade it was a fox and the hound with fuzzy little finger puppets in the book, and im from the era where it wasnt a big book sale, it was in classroom, order form, and few weeks later, book day!!! (1985) i always loved the scholastic day, i reiterate, im planning on reading capn underpants
I love that you remember that! I also grew up with scholastic book day being something to super look forward to!!
Ah, urban fantasy, have you read much Neil Gaiman? he's a new discovery for me, & I'm loving it.
Great author- I tend to lean toward his middle grade/YA but want to see more of his backlist!
Ah, looking at that Jonathan Stroud on your bookshelves. I'm about to launch into him - can't wait.
Love your channel name, what a surname to play with. I love YA literature too, especially LGBTQI+, so really admire your commitments to inclusivity & creativity. For me, Tolkien was the thing that started it all, & I still love fantasy, but I also read a lot of magical realism & poetry (especially contemporary). Thanks for the bookish inspiration!
Welcome and thank you!
I listened to both Melissa & Rick. Both were four stars for me. I picked up a copy of Green at the library yesterday. Excited to start it.
Awesome!! I liked Melissa and Rick more than Green but would love to hear your thoughts. 💛📚
Loved this! The koala theme is so cute. These videos are so relaxing to watch ❤. I need to catch up on mine! :)
The Tea Garden, Cinder and Percy Jackson are definitely on my TBR, but everything else is new to me! Great wrap up of each book. Sounds like some real gems in there and I love the diversity you have in your reading! Thank you for expanding my knowledge of middle grade books 💖💖💖. Great job with the name game!!
Thank you so much!! I think you will especially enjoy Percy and Cinder! I am having such a fun time with the name game :)📚♥
aggie morton sounds wonderful planning on adding them i truly enjoy the words you choose, like delightful, such a pleasing experience im with you on over-repetition, drags books down cinder cover does look amazing, steampunk vibe hmmm, may read percy jackson, maybe fantastic job in may!!
Thank you! I would love to hear what you think of the Auggie Morton series :📚❤
Hey! Me again. Have you read Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds? It's more YA than middle-grade, but it is incredible!
Oh- Jason Reynolds is amazing!! I have read a bunch of his but I am not sure if that is one of them! I have loved everything from him- I am so glad you found him!!
absolutely gonna read this soon your voice is soothing, great recap
Thank you- I hope you love it as much as I did!
