    I appreciate that you share ‘why’ you choose to do as you do ie, using a quilting mat so as to measure your threads. Nice tip. I’ve long wanted to make lace but have never settled down to learning it. Thank you for your beginner friendly videos.

      You can get it via Amazon (a.co/d/2Eu2rfy) or any book seller. It's called Beginner's Guide to Bobbin Lace by Adrienne Thunder

    I can't help but comment that the flat sided bobbins are not "Midlands" bobbins. Midlands are the straight, skinny bobbins that have spangles (bead ring) on the bottom. Also, 26mm is the length of the pin, not the diameter. Most beginners will be using 0.65mm diameter pins with thick Lizbeth 20 thread.

    It should also be noted that the ground work in the finished bookmark (presented at the beginning of the video) has not been done correctly, but luckily the ground has been worked correctly in the video. CT pin CT (which is also known as Torchon Ground)

    You are not doing the top pin of the diamonds correctly. Please refer to p. 38 step 2 of the book. After you place the pin, you only need to work CTC once, not twice. She makes the comment the worker is on the left BEFORE you close the pin with the CTC. Once you have done that stitch the worker is on the right, ready to bring in the first pair at the right.

      That is awesome. I def think you can do this bookmark in those colors and it should look great no matter how you alternate the colors.

    I am brand new at this craft . Can you tell me what the point is in pricking the pattern? Can you just do the project without poking the holes through where you will put your pins anyway?

    • @boldbobbinlacelady6525
      @boldbobbinlacelady6525 2 года назад

      Depending on your project the paper may be too thick for your pins to go in easily. Pricking it before hand allows you to make sure you don't miss any holes and prevents the pins the hold the lace from breaking. I tried doing patterns without pricking before (when I was brand new) and found that pricking them beforehand makes the project a lot easier.
