Hey is the exhaust from factory? I LOVE THE SOUND
I stopped watching at 6:00 my 2014 Subaru XV would have done better in those diagonals. it seems to me embarrassing performance, especially for the Jeep. I was now convinced to stick to my Subaru. thank you for helping me make my mind.
Darton sleeves.
I have a 2002 eurovan with the pop top, and I have been looking for a company in Seattle to do a TDI swap for me. 1.9TDI with a manual, to be exact. I did find a couple of shops, and I'll be waiting until I have the funds to do the job. Currently, with my van, there is nothing wrong at all. There is no noise from the engine or transmission and has been meticulously maintained. 156,000 and still going strong.... I do think it's time for an upgrade, and I don't want to rebuild what's there if and when the VR6 or trans go out.
is there a chance that doing this makes the cylinders out of round?
Just use 81mm block, everything else doesn't work.
I have an 81 mm block but can’t seem to find mls gasket someone said I could use the b5254t4 head gasket on the 34t3 block, wonder if the 1mm difference makes a good seal
How much does it cost to shim the block? Thanks for this awesome video!
Thanks ! Just got mine. Time to take it off-road methinks!
First of all, the R models were never meant to be modified or over tuned. The gap is there to help compensate with expansion and contraction. Also, who the hell hammers in a feeler gauge and says, "it fits?" The feeler gauge should easily slide through.
OMG, too much fun!
Thank You for Sharing the Expirience💖💖🤗🤗✨✨
Hi there, have you been able to keep passing the emissions with the new OBD2 standards in CA? Looking to do this but afraid of the CARB.
don't think it matters on vehicles this old. 2010+ get more scrutiny, from what I understand
Very nice informative videos.
Heard anyone that's done this on something post-97? Meaning they chose to deal with the smog issue...?
It is so easy to understand when you explain it. THANKS A LOT !! :)
Great colour👍👍👍
No one working harder than camera guy.
Did you ever finish the tune?
Meh... Combed through years of debates across multiple forums yet found no hard evidence it works. Just a bunch of back and forth "take my word for it" arguments alongside pictures of shimmed blocks, which prove nothing, and misleading info about the cost and ease of doing the modification. It is $20 but $200+-, does but doesn't work, shimmed blocks haven't but have cracked, is easy but hard to do yourself, etc. Researching this topic literally could not be a bigger waste of someones time! How in the hell has this still not been settled with hard data/evidence to support it 🤦🏼♂️Not even the shops selling shims stand behind it, offer a complete kit, or provide instructions on how to perform the modification. I can't decide rather to do it or not. Would pay someone to do it so I am not burned out before I start restoring the car but doubt anyone is around my area.
Problem is support and parts i can't find bmw seem to have kicked it to the curb
Will the rear aux ac system still work with the TDI swap? I found one already swapped out but i was wondering if everything should still work as it should. The one im looking at has the 1.9 diesel
only if the lines were connected. I had mine bypassed.
only if the lines were connected. I had mine bypassed since the 5cyl a/c lines I used didn't accommodate rear AC
This is cap. Listing wouldn't even seized I have one that I have to cut off right now. It's actually seized.
it doesn't happen on the 220 bhp 2litre , the liners are thicker thus better at dispersing the heat
Watched this video before buying my evoque. Just haven’t had the balls to do it yet. Nice video!
Here is a thought. Disconnect all the hoses from the radiator and the heater core. Then using blue devil before the head gasket blows. I bet blue devil would seal that .035 passage. But who knows.
Where did you buy the clip in Victorville?
quality german, I believe I mention it further in the clip
I just love dia
for newbs.... what is the reason for the rebuild of the unit? Also isn't there a turbo upgrade unit available? Love the project videos- will watch them all and plaster with dumb questions.
wonderful video. great info
Hi love the video thanks, I notice you refer to the evoque as an all wheel drive but it is actually a four wheel drive as it has a centre diff which locks. Cheers
this car is 100% AWD using a haldex system
Hi could you help me understand the Haldex system. Did you have the centre diff removed and install an aftermarket AWD system? Cheers
@@ducarty1188 2012-2013 Evoque got the Haldex based AWD system. 2014+ Evoque got the GKN Active Driveline AWD system. Neither are true 4WD as they are FWD systems with an angle gear of some sort. Hope this helps.
the comment about pulling the brake booster is the key to not pulling the dash / solving the clearance issue of getting pedal box out. thank you.
How much of the brake system did you have to disconnect? I see 4 options / possibilities, wondering if you have any insight: 1. no brake lines or ABS needs to be disconnected just undo the 4 bolts from under steering wheel for booster and it pulls ahead, this seems like best case, but unlikely 2. disconnect the two hardlines from the booster to the ABS module and get enough space to clear. 3. ABS module and bracket need to be removed. 4. cut the 2 of 4 bolts that are super long anyways that go through the pedal box bracket to get the pedal box out while leaving the brake booster right where it is..? TIA - hope you're having a great summer!
Will this swap work on a p80 volvo (1999) ?
About to buy a 2004 V70R. Thank you for your informative shiming video. Wondering why Volvo cut these passages between the cylinders in the first place? With such a small amount of coolant passing through I can't imagine it made any significant difference in overall engine temp.
I would assume that one reason is that it’s for the cylinders to have room to expand.
Is 230k a lot of miles for these cars? Tk the point that it’s just too many miles?.
how hard do you tighten at first? in Nm please Great job
do you know if CEM coding resolves the RPM flair that you mention?
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS OUT THERE
Bro I just did this on an 03 Tacoma worked perfectly😊
Hey man I would love to be able to message you to get some more information on getting my car tuned. I have a 2007 S60 R that I’ve wanted to get tuned for a while
Does that xj have diff lockers? Just watching the first section andvseems the xj should of strolled through that.
That's the only place the evoque has an advantage, to be honest. The traction control system is really good and short of lockers it does wonders
The XJ should have a limited slip diff in the back as standard. This one didn't seem to be operating though. Possible due to replacing the diff oil with the wrong type causing the limited slip to slip completely
Nice video. I like your wheels...what's the brand and size? I want to put them in my Evoque 2013.😂😂
may i ask why the shims are bend (z shape) in that particular form? Is it due to the way the coolant runs in the engine or? Just looks like some of them are blocking the coolant from bypassing towards the next cylinder in the row due to the (z shape) of the feeler gauges. Or?
They wouldn't fit straight. Coolant can still travel below the shims
@@eurojulien thx for Reply. 👍
So basically its total shit off-road and are just for show off city driving ?
It got through some spots the lifted XJ couldn't, so I wouldn't say your statement is correct. Ground clearance is the only issue that I ran into but it is stock.
@@eurojulien Yeah my 2008 rexton does a better job :)
@@Revelation13-8 If it can brake individual wheels to keep traction, i'd be surprised. Make a video and shoot me a link :)
@@eurojulien It has the "tractor" function to double the 4x4 on all wheels for offroad , alot of videos on youtube from 10 years back when most videos was made from rexton car club etc , just search for : rexton car club :)
This is great thanks for making the video. I really enjoyed watching it.
I have a stock c30 t5. Immaculate condition with 95k miles on the motor. Certian volvo guys have said you don't need to shim it at that milage as the liners have stretched?? Little confused. So thinking of just getting forged then I can run big power safely
I don't buy that personally.
I am trying to do the same thing to my 2001 v70T5... i hope it is similar
why do you suggest two engine supports? could one be spanned diagonally to pick up both points?
nm.. at 5:14 you have 3 points supported on the two bars. did you try this with one bar and it didn't work, or had two bars and used them both? don't currently own these and don't want to get two if i don't need both
@@diggitydudeski you'll need two support bars
@@eurojulien Thank you for the reply! Great vids also, by the way!
Hello Julien I am modifying my Volvo V70R I ask myself a question should you change the water radiator since it has the cooler of the automatic gearbox?cordially
No need, just leave those ports on the radiator disconnected
Thank you how to proceed with the wiring of the reverse gear switch
?
Nice work, but nobody wants to hear this f*cking sh*t music, we want to hear the engine running at least! P.S.: Volvo 5 cylinders are great engines.
