Hey, i seen your youtube videos. I love them! I have a cockatiel and i dont know what to feed him percentage-wise on his diet. There is so much conflicting information on the internet. I was wondering what percentage fruit, vegetables, protein foods, grain foods, pellets, and seeds should his diet be? Some people say dont even feed them protein, some people say to use a bigger percentage of veggies than others. Some people say feed them 15-25% veggies, but then that leaves me confused because which number out of the 15-25% should i stick to? I dont know who to listen to lol and I am contused. Right now I am feeding my bird 65% grains, 10% seeds, 15% veggies (half dark/ leafy greens and the other half is colored veggies) and then 10% fruit (half green and the other half colored) im not giving him any protein or grain foods right now in his diet. I am unaware of what his diet should consist of? Can you please help me determine the exact percentages for a perfect diet for him? It would mean the world to me. Thank you so much! He is one year old exactly by the way. Have a great day!

hi! my pet bird was living in a awful situation before I got her. she was 4 months old when she came to me and she's extremely scared of me. I've been regularly talking to her and tried to get my hands near her but she's still scared of me and either hisses are runs away. but when I get her out she might come to me asking for food (if she sees me eating), but other than that she will always run away and in panic. what do you suggest I should do?

While you're eating at the table have some millet there for her too. When she gets used to eating with you then try holding it in your hand until she eats it out of your hand. Do this little by little until she is tame.

@@blizzardgumtree5012 hi! seems ridiculous but she's extremely attached to me now. so what I did was this: I let her out and she starts walking around the house. when she gets tired she comes up to me and sits on my lap and perchs. a couple of days later she accepts pets and now she's being a really nice and well behaved kid. thanks for the tip tho!

My very old cockatiel,he’s 32 years old has 4 or 5 different perches and now he likes to stand on a wooden ledge or ramps,I have put up in my large outside aviary he also loves to sleep in a box full of tissue paper.I have noticed now he’s very old his beak grows longer but he manages to trim it ,I once took him to the vets to trim it but it started to break up and flake also it looked horrible. very old birds like mine get fussy he won’t shred his sunflower seeds now,I buy them already peeled. My vet is amazed we still have him and he looks really well maybe a bit thinner, and slower but still a little rascal. His favourite thing is all the mirrors he has and watching cockatiel videos on u tube on my phone.

I bought a male cockatiel in 1991 when my son was13 years old,a year later I bought another they live in a huge aviary outside,I lost my second bird when he was 29 years old,my first bird is now at the ripe old age of 32 years and is healthy and happy,he does.sleep a lot now and doesn’t fly down to the grass anymore in the aviary he doesn’t sing as much either but he loves his food, showers, and his bed in a cosy box every night he toddles off to bed at 7.00 o clock summertime.and wakes around 8.30am.winter off to bed 5.00pm and doesn’t come out of his cosy box until 12.00.He’s a great bird but old birds are fragile so if you buy a cockatiel Remember they can live a long life,my son is 45 years old now and I still have his little feathered friend.

Lost mine a few years ago. Immediately drove one mile radius around point of escape and put up posters with phone number and his photo. A week later he was spotted about a mile away pecking through leaves under a hedge. He was weak and seemed to have had his neck pecked at. Someone phoned me at 5 in the morning so hopped into car and went to reported location. I whistled and he whistled back. Hopped onto my hand andvtook him home. He was fine and lasted a good few years afterwards.
