wow thanks!!
Happy to help!
Dancing?! Where did you find to do dancing? We go in September, I'd love to know!
The local sports club in one of the villages we visited had dancing, but you can find opportunities to go ceilidh dancing by trying the following methods: 1. **Local Tourist Information Centers**: Upon arrival in a Scottish city or town, tourists can visit the local tourist information center. These centers often have up-to-date details on events, including ceilidhs. 2. **Ask Locals**: Scots are proud of their culture, and locals are usually happy to recommend places for ceilidh dancing. Asking staff at hotels, pubs, or restaurants is often helpful. 3. **Online Event Listings**: Websites like Eventbrite, What's On Scotland, and Skiddle often list upcoming ceilidhs. Searching for "ceilidh" plus the city or town name can yield good results. 4. **Facebook Groups & Pages**: Many ceilidh bands and venues promote their events through social media. Searching for groups or pages related to ceilidh dancing in Scotland can help tourists find events during their visit. 5. **Pubs and Community Halls**: Some pubs, especially in larger cities like Edinburgh or Glasgow, regularly host ceilidh nights. Community halls in smaller towns also often hold ceilidhs, especially on weekends. 6. **Cultural Centers and Scottish Heritage Venues**: Places like the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh or local heritage centers often host regular ceilidhs. 7. **Hotels & Resorts**: Many hotels, especially in rural areas or the Highlands, host ceilidhs for their guests. Checking with the hotel where you're staying can uncover some options. 8. **Local Newspapers**: Smaller towns may advertise ceilidhs in their local newspapers or on community bulletin boards. I hope you get to go ceilidh dancing and experience the lively Scottish culture. Enjoy your trip!!
Thank you for doing this video. As a Scot it really annoys me to see tourists being ripped off with cheap and nasty junk when they come to Scotland. Thank you again.
Scotland's small businesses and local artists offer much better quality and such diverse gift options, silly not to bring something home that doesn't say "made in Scotland". Thanks for your comment and for watching!!!
This was very helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
They won’t change old notes at the bank anymore.
thanks for the update!!
microfiber undergarments wash easily and dry in a few hours. I use thigh society undies and a microfiber cami (I just can't stand bras). My tops are a gauze-like material or georgette fabric, so they are lightweight, pack well, wash and dry quickly. 1 pair flip flops for the hotel room and 1 pair walking shoes. 2 pairs ponte pants. Honestly, be a minimalist packer, you won't regret it. Don't bother to bring shampoo/conditioner, hotels have everything you need. Even my socks are a quick-dry material.
Great tips, thank you!
Amazing video ! Love it !
Thank you!!
Hi, what backpack is that?
Hi, here is the link for the backpack 🎒 😀 www.amazon.com/Duchamp-Getaway-Expandable-Backpack-Suitcase/dp/B0BMJYV9ZF?crid=1ZG428S0SJP5E&keywords=duchamp%2Btravel%2Bbackpack&qid=1692934912&sprefix=duchamp%2Btravel%2Bbackpack,aps,129&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do:amzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=travelontrips-20&linkId=5c0eafd1fb1098017ba50d51fb2ccb50&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
“I’m sorry, you can’t see it”. I’m sorry, why should I watch then?
Hi there! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave feedback. I really appreciate your honesty, and I'm sorry about the mistake in the video. As a new content creator, I'm still learning the ropes, and sometimes, things slip through the cracks. I decided to share the video despite the imperfection because I believe in the value it offers beyond that specific moment. Your understanding and patience mean a lot to me, and I'm committed to improving with each video. Your support and feedback are invaluable in helping me grow as a content creator. So, thanks for being part of this journey, and I hope you'll stick around to see how I continue to improve. 😊🙌
Alas, Grana's XXL only has a chest measurement which is 6 inches smaller than my chest so I won't be purchasing from them. I really wish companies who carry a suposedly inclusive line start looking at clothes which fit a size 22 and above. Guess I have to stick with Lands' End supima - and I can get a v-neck style. Congrats on getting rid of the cheap t-shirts!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and providing valuable feedback. I completely understand your frustration regarding the sizing, and it's disappointing when inclusive lines fall short of catering to a wider range of sizes. It's important for companies to take into account the diverse body types and needs of their customers. I'm glad you found a suitable alternative with Lands' End supima. Everyone deserves to have comfortable and stylish options that fit their size and preferences. I appreciate your support and hope that more companies will take your feedback to heart and expand their size range in the future. 😊👗🛍️
"Promosm"
thanks
Lovely Christmas present Hazel, thank you. x PS I know who the marmalade is for. lol
Love your video. I haven t tried the post it notes, but I can see how they could significantly improve organization. I am way better than I used to be - im not an overpacker anymore. I have cut way back on what I take anymore. It is so much easier to just take a small backpack or a medium sized purse and nothing else.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your own experience! It's fantastic to hear that you've improved your packing and become more efficient with your choices. Transitioning to a small backpack or medium-sized purse for travel can be such a game-changer - it makes things more convenient and enjoyable. And, if you ever decide to give the Post-it notes a try, they can be a fun and effective way to enhance your organization further. Keep up the great work, and safe travels with your streamlined packing approach! 😊🌍🎒
This was spectacular
Your "Pack With Me" video for a business trip is a lifesaver for fellow corporate travelers. Your knack for balancing work and personal items is remarkable. Oh, and before I forget, have you heard about the v4 Bento Bag by NomadLane? It might just be your new travel companion.
That backpack has great organisation!
Yes it does!
Love your channel. Over 50. Travel obsessed. First solo trip this year.
That is awesome! I'm also over 50. Good luck with your solo trip!
Sometimes you need to over pack
Absolutely. I do when I have a special occassion like a wedding, or extended trip.
We’re actually headed to Scotland in a few days and England. You’ve shared a few great ideas. I will never admit how many of these videos I’ve watched. Lol. Thank you!!
Wonderful! Enjoy your trip and glad some ideas helped!
I’ve watched a TON of these kind of videos, and yours is one of the best! I got several fantastic ideas I’m going to implement on my next trip!
Awesome! Thank you! Have a great 'next' trip!
I LOVED the way you organized and showed us each outfit for each day/activity! Now, let’s hope my packing is this easy! 😆
You can do it!
I’m the opposite; I like ON the beaten path😁, but I have the same goals of super-intense planning and organizing to make my trip the best it can possibly be.
Love that!
Oooohh, this makes my organizer heart happy! I’m going to try this for my 2 week European trip. I may need several sticky notes per item - can’t have too many, right? 😄. P.S. I actually DON’T have enough clothes, so I’m researching the best clothes to buy. I did a little too much decluttering when we moved recently. 😂
Good luck!!
OMG Hazel you're so like your Mum with your little pack of vitamins. Have a great trip. xx
😊 thank you
I agree - warm vacation once a year for survival! We’re in the Midwest with harsh weather and winters. I haven’t wanted to travel because of all my health and dietary restrictions. Thankfully my husband is okay with whatever I need to take (I try to do carry one as much as possible, but sometimes it’s just not); he just wants me as his travel buddy. Looking forward to all your videos! 🥰. Just subscribed!
Thanks! More videos coming soon!!
These were really helpful guidelines. I think I’m going to swap out for waterproof boots for my European trip since it’ll be autumn - and all big cities. 😊
Have fun!
Thank you, nice to meet you Hazel. I'm Magda, 42y. I'm from Poland but I moved to UK 4 years ago and decided to start my life here, like a big reset of everything I had before. And that was the best decision ever. No regrets! And I'm definitely love travelling too. I just join your channel and I can't wait for more video. I like them and I safed it. Definitely I will be back. Regards from UK 🇬🇧
Wonderful! Thank you so much and best of luck to your new adventure living in the UK!
I cannot download your packing list. This is really bumming me out
Hi!@@travelontrips, great video! I think your link to the worksheet is referencing a route in your own computer (ie your C: hard drive), not something that is online. You'd have to upload the pdf file somewhere online/in the cloud, like your google drive or drop box, then share that link. Make sure to have viewing permissions on!

A different outfit every day = a lot of clothes to pack. Are usually wear, see my tops, a few times during the entire trip. Same goes with pants other pieces of clothing.
Yes, clothes can be worn more than once, but if I can fit it... I like a fresh new outfit every day. Great tip, thanks.
Thank you for this me and my pup are heading there this month and I’ve been trying to fine stuff me and him can do together
It's a great place to explore with your furry friend. Enjoy!!
What airline did you fly with?!? I’m heading to Scotland in the fall and I’m pretty sure my carry on needs to be smaller than the bag you choose. I love the tips on packing though! Thanks for sharing!!
We are flying with Air Canada. Bag size restrictions for our international flight to UK are; Carry-on 21.5"x15.5"x9", and personal item 17"x13"x6". My Monos Pro Plus carry-on bag (link in description) fits those parameters and I also have the metro backpack from the same company. PRO TIP: We live in Michigan, it was cheaper for us to drive to Canada - Windsor Airport (45 min drive) and fly from there. We could have saved even more on the flights if we opted to drive the 5 hours to Toronto Airport but chose the easier commute. Had we flown out of Detroit (1 hour drive for us) we would have paid double for our air fares. Always search nearby airports for the best deals! Happy Travels on your trip in September!!!
@@travelontrips we flew Air Canada for our trip to Ireland last year! I think we’re flying Virgin Atlantic this time, this will be our first time flying with them! 🤞🏼🤞🏼
2 weeks in a carry-on: pack for 1 week & wear each outfit twice. Pack 15 undies, another bra (you’re already wearing one on travel day) + laundry sheets for hand washing in the sink. Wear your bulkiest shoes on the plane (trainers, boots) & pack 2 more (eve/dressy + day/casual for comfy walking/shopping). Keep footwear neutral; white, black, or nude/tan. If poss, pack only dresses & jumpsuits; such one and done outfits mean no capsule planning or limited color palette. Cotton, merino wool, and Tencel are super-easy-care fabrics. Pack a travel steamer! Use COMPRESSION style packing cubes. Treat yourself to lash extensions for the trip… just lip color + a sweep of blush or bronzer and you are #OutTheDoor! Quickly! Bring only inexpensive “fashion jewelry” + a silky scarf to accentuate an outfit, handbag, or ponytail, and your look is instantly elevated. Travel light, wear uncomplicated outfits, and spend less time doing makeup… you will love your stress-free trip!! Much luv from NYC xx
Such great tips! Thanks for taking the time to share! Happy Travels. x0
Sushmita: never go without my Lash Extentions - it's a game changer which pops, hence, no heavy makeup needed. Love all the other advice you've given - I live by that in my travels - thank you ❤
This is in Ohio
Yes! A very easy 5 hour drive from north Detroit suburbs. Wow, what a beautiful hidden gem! Thanks Ohio!!
You don’t need a different outfit every day. Bottoms can be worn twice.
Absolutely! Great tip for viewers! Thanks.
twice or more
No I don't use post-it notes, too small... Instead, I created a spreadsheet with a 7 columns - one for each day of the week - and 2 sections [top and bottom]. Bottom Section is for time of day [i.e. Breakfast, Lunch, dinner] with activities. Top section is for outfit items. I only do casual road trips and only travel in Summer - staying in Extended Stay hotels with a pool (and complimentary toiletries).. So there are always the same activities: Sleep, Swim, Sights, Shop, Slouch, Sup, sometimes Gym Session. I also take my wall calendar to keep track of each day and tracking my daily meds. I take A small notepad to list: everything I forgot, did not use, or SAVED me. I write in my travel diary every night before bed. I review notes after each trip and before the next one. I've gone from being an extreme OVER packer with many bags too heavy for me to carry, to an almost minimalist packer with only a spinner carry-on and personal item tote that I can manage on my own.. My fave mantra is 'what can I wear/pack that is most like my comfy PJs?' ...I'm a plus size senior and love the versatility of tunic tops. I stick to my fave neutrals [gray, black, beige, blue] PLUSI indulge in colorful thin oblong scarves and shawls that are very versatile! 🙂 I chose not to buy a smartphone - had enough of computers for 35 years in IT security. So vacations are truly relaxing and as carefree as possbile sans electonics. tfs!
Yes! I’m all about Secret Pyjamas.
We are very alike in our planning!! Love it! I too think about what can I pack that is lightweight and COMFY! Happy travels!
Do you not wear anything twice?
If I can fit it, I will pack one outfit per day. If not, I'll wear some items twice or plan to launder a few items mid-week. 😉
Hazel, please take a crack at distribution of items between carry-on and personal item in preparation for my flight from Ottawa to Ft. Lauderdale to catch a cruise next February. I will have a checked bag as well so other than my emergency compression cube of undies and a top in case my big bag goes off without me, no need to cover clothes. I have a lot of meds including a zippered medication case with ice pack for my insulin, liquids bag, headphones, binder with hard copies of everything, travel purse, windbreaker, laptop and cord, all 3 of my spare phone batteries *since they can't go in checked), makeup, little neoprene slippers, sanitizing stuff, snacks and water bottle - the list never seems to end. I flew out to Vancouver Island in February to see my sister and my knapsack weighed about 45 pounds as they gate checked my carry-on for the last leg but fortunately, I had put the batteries in my knapsack! What is most essential when in your plane seat?
Thanks for your video suggestion. I'll put it on my list of topics to cover in the near future! Happy travels!
Hello Hazel, I really love your videos. I am getting ready for my own trip to Scotland - in 2-1/2 weeks. I am also from England (but planning to move to Scotland -where my adult daughter currently lives). I've never lived in UK as an adult - we moved to the US when I was just 8 years old, and my mother moved back to England 23 years ago now. Looking forward to embracing my adventures and getting to spend time with my daughter and my mom over the next several months. I am so excited!! Thanks for the packing tips - they will come in very helpful!
Thanks for your message! Sounds like an amazing adventure! Glad to hear some of my packing tips will help! Safe travels and enjoy every minute with your daughter and mom. Happy travels!
I love your tips! I am getting ready to go to Scotland also (but as I am moving there, I will be packing TWO full size cases and a carry on) I already do a lot of what you mentioned, but learned a few new tricks too. Thanks a bunch and enjoy your trip!
Glad to hear you learned a few new tricks! What an amazing adventure you will have! Best of luck. Happy travels!
Hello Hazel:) just found your channel, loved the intro video!! I am a fellow Canadian, living in Northwestern Ontario (between Winnipeg MB & Thunder Bay ON) :) my hubby & i love to travel , even more specifically, love to cruise & have been doing so since 2005. I am 53, hubby is 55 & our kids are grown. We have taken many many trips with them but now that they are grown & mostly living their lives & doing their thing, my hubby & I have been enjoying trips just the two of us.
