Wait... sand for minerals, and fertilizer???? 😂😂😂 Then you BURY the risome? Let me guess- you use tap water too?
wow, i work at a botanical garden where we also have a lot of Drosera but ive never seen any bloom like these!
Great video! What would you recommend for a much smaller scale set up? A simple spray bottle with the organic fertilizer?
Thank you! That is exactly what I did until I got a big bottle :)
Amazing video, thanks.
Wow nice Video thank you for that ❤❤❤ i like it so mutch ❤❤❤
Nice of you to end the video with capensis. :)
@@The_Tangler best for last :)
Incredibly unique habitat and inhabitants, the telipogonis was my favorite plant you showed. I'm still waiting on our carnivores to wake up over here in the U.S. Keep these videos coming, this kind of content is scarce
@@LoganRyatt it was a very lucky find!
Where do you get your temperate pings from?
Fascinating ruclips.net/video/2gehK1bMQmQ/видео.htmlsi=1S0wyGuP6IM2VaS6 great collection in extreme climate. Very knowledgeable presenter. I have included this video as it shows a few of the plants birds and animals on our heritage block which remains largely unaltered since people have lived there 65,000 years ago. Two types of Drosera eek out a living in the impoverished soil.
Lovely! Are you going to show us the indoor collection?
Thanks so much for doing this video.I've a very similar set up to you here in Perth Western Australia, very similar Mediterranean Climate.
@@jamesthedrummer3362 you live in carnivorous plant heaven down there!
waoh you´re very lucky to see them in nature , great video 😀😀
Its very difficult to get a sense of scale because the camera is always looking down. Try laying next to it or have someone in front of it standing/kneeling. Epic finds though!
Its massive! thanks for the video!
I would say it's the most mobile species ( 2:57 ), never seen anything else get even close! Awesome video man. 💚
great video, always nice to see the sundews in their natural environment :)
Hey Hendre, thanks for sharing those fantastic plants. I hope one day i can go on a tour with you 😃😃 Best regards from Germany Matze
LOVE your videos, but PLEASE stop with the crappy, unnecessary music that often drowns you out.
no need to be so rude about it????
The music adds a beautiful touch to go with the beautiful plants 🥰❤️
Your content is absolutely gold man 🙏🏻🤗
I never expected them to grow on rocks. Those are very beautiful places you are getting to visit, thanks for videoing it.
Fantastic. Hope to see more. Hopefully check you when I'm back in ZA and go on some missions
Not sure if I missed it, but what temperatures do you have in the heliamphora tank? You don't seem to have any cooling system in there?
@@PrimeBrawler not yet unfortunately. My room stays a steady 20-28c. It's usually a bit cooler in there but a cooling system is on my to-do list
@capecarnivores oh, if they grow so well in room temps maybe I should try them after all!
@@capecarnivores do you think of doing it with aircon or some sort of evaporative cooling device? lovely video btw.
Hey mate, Friedrich here 😊 Awesome field trip and beautiful finds, I especially like those D. cistiflora hybrids with the hot pink flowers and the violet ones also. Oh and +1 for the laugh at 7:02 😂 Keep 'em coming, you're doing fantastic work!
i love the quaint and homey videography
Do they eat fungus gnats/gnat flies? When do they start eating flies? Around what month?
@@rageoftheredphoenix pinguicula (Butterworts) are particularly good gnat eaters. As for flies sarracenia (trumpet pitchers) outdoors are the best fly eaters. Sundews can catch flies as well
I look forward to more information on how you rinse your peat.
I will get on that soon!
@@capecarnivores thank you
Really love the automated heliamphora tank. Planning to make a similar one myself, thanks to your inspiration. How does the tube from the pump convert to the irrigation line? Is it a standard piece that you can buy? Thanks again!
Yes the line is 10mm from the pump, I put a 10mm barbed elbow on with a short section of pipe I heated and forced onto the elbow that plugs into the sprayer line, not sure what the dimension of that is. I didn't have to custom build any components
Enjoyed the scenic shots between talking about these awesome plants. Thanks for the share!
Love your video
@@mrbiettuot4106 thanks!

Thank you
seeing that bees hive made myself thinking, how would it be some honey with exclusive CP flower's polen 😂
that would be a fun experiment!
amazing part of the world thank you sharing cheers from Australia
great to see so many cistifloras in nature, wonderful flowers :) I have one too but mine never flowered.
Those yellow cupped cistiflora are beautiful

Fantastic collection!
Awesome plants
awesome collection of plants cheers from Queensland Australia
Nice plants, I´m a drosera fan, I like your winter growing snd tuberous sundews. In my conditions is difficult to grow them so I just have tropical , subtropical , pygmy and Quensland´s sisters sundews.
Glad to see it's still doing well!
Great greenhouse and plants. I remember your pics when you just started building.
It has been almost 2 years now since I started building it! Time flies...
@@capecarnivores Yes, and for the next few years you'll be making little changes and adjustments to the greenhouse. Never ends.
Wonderful video I was seated the entire length. Thanks for sharing 🫶
What are the soil ratios in % ?
He said 3 parts, so maybe 33% per part. We need clarification from Cape Carnivore.
