Hi all, I'm Kevin Liang a USTA 4.5/UTR 8 tennis player based in the Bay Area. I'm documenting my journey on RUclips as an NTRP 4.5 player trying to improve to become USTA 5.0+ and reach UTR 10.
This time I'm playing my third UTR flex match, against another UTR 8+ (I don't have power so i don't know the exact UTR), Cedric. Cedric is my highest rated opponent so far and is the opponent with the most mach experience. He has a very solid all-round game, and likes to serve and v

    "How is so & so rated 4.0?!?" Because NTRP is a very imprecise rating system that competitive recreational players have learned how to game and manipulate, sandbagging so that they can maintain a high win % and "go to states".

    What a annoying player is Hassan. You'll need a revenge on him, Kevin. And you'll need to push him to the baseline and use more dropshots i guess, also with a more consistent volley and overheads. Anyway, it was a great experience. Slicers and moonballers will require a lot of patience and strategy as well. Keep doing it, bro

      Would love to play Winston one day haha. I honestly don’t know where it came from. I had many coaches as a junior and they never mentioned it so my best guess is that every time i took a decent lengthed break from tennis, my grip got slightly more western. It started out as semi-western

    Great job on the comeback! Impressive! It was certainly the right decision to change your game plan! I really like the way you hit your backhand! Looks beautiful! Not as crazy about your forehand, however. It's good, but it looks like maybe you hit the ball not quite out in front enough so you end up having to swipe up on the ball. Good for spin, but not as good for driving through the court... It would probably help you to go to the net sometimes to keep him from being able to just lob the ball back to you to reset the point after you hit a good shot... I know that's not really your game, but it's probably worth working on.... You were tired, though, so maybe your decision to play from the backcourt was the right one...

    Your game is good but is suffering due to the fact that you dont move into your shots and actually back up in cases where you should be pressing the net. Your ground strokes if possible, should be weight moving forward into the ball... Aggressively attacking with approach shots into a volley. Your slices will have more pace that is knifed, back hand and forehand will improve with your extreme grip before you'll be hitting through or down on the ball. Stop backing up...Agassi refused toback off the baseline. This kept his opponents pressed back with constant pressure.

    Congratulations on the win and the mental toughness to come back from the first set. You win more points on your forehand when your toes are at the baseline or moving forward. Backhand down the line was working. Maybe throw in some drop shots when you know your opponent is struggling physically. Great match!

  • @Dasato123
    @Dasato123 4 дня назад

    1) Can you let us know how Cedric does against Slicer Hassaan? Interested to see how much difference Cedric’s net savvy and greater willingness to attack, makes. 2) it might be a good idea to hit some drop shots on a few mid court balls. The real benefit would be to plant the drop shot idea in your opponents head and make them take a step or two closer to the baseline. Cedric just camped behind the baseline and never had to worry about a short ball. 3) If the double faults were due to the strings they would occur more randomly and not on so many break points. The tried and true solution is to just hit a second serve on the first serve in nervy situations. It’s not like your first serve is so big that you’re necessarily giving up a service winner, nor is your second serve super weak and being plastered. Don’t let ego get in the way of winning. 3) The RUclips All Calf Tennis Championships . 😮😂

    You are definitely an excellent player but you are not 6 ft 4 inches tall plus and that matters for kick serves and easy service winners from tall guys aces. 4.5 usta rating requirements include excellent kick serves and if u ain't tall that hurts you for rating
