im preparing to do this as well. i started out wanting to build set binders, but since the new sets are being scalped so much and prices are getting out of hand i decided to go this route. i was trying to decide how i wanted to store them and i came up with two different ways, first separate them into individual binders by generation so all of gen 1 in one binder, all of gen 2 in another binder, so on and so forth or the other option, try and put them all in one large binder. i think ive decided to go the large binder route, i have found a decent 1300 pocket binder that would allow me to put all of gen 1-9 with 200-300 pockets to spare (currently 1025 pokemon through gen 9) for hopefully the next 2 or 3 generations to come. im not new to collecting pokemon cards, but i am back in it after many many years so i dont really have a lot of the bigger hits to go in my pokedex but i do want to fill it up and start adding better and better cards to it over time.

I love the Pokedex binder I built one after watching the deep pocket monster for some Pokemon i do the regional forms so for zigzagoon I use the regular and the galarian version great video I love how you add bling with better cards I Will do that with my extras that's not in a master set also the energys for place holders W

Great idea collecting in Japanese. I've definitely opened way more Crown Zenith packs than I should, knowing they'll be $20+ one day. Could just buy the Japanese cards to stop myself

Pre-ordered a case of TF a few weeks ago for $53/box. They’re already going up. Lol. In Japan, PSA 9’s cost less than raw cards 99% of the time, that shows you how amazing their QC is. Your chances of getting a PSA 10 in a Japanese set are so much higher. I bet these TF boxes skyrocket to $400+ within the next 3 years. Just look at Tag Team GX All Stars boosters, and this set blows that one away.

A Japanese booster box is $30-35 USD so at $65 it’s the same proportional to the English ETB markup. English also has the poor quality control so people can mark up the conditions better. Either way I agree these ETBs are a bad idea to buy at these prices. The reprints on a special set are huge. I hope they reprint them to death tho.

The pokemon company is reprinting now more than ever. Question is if this will still be worth it for the "investors" if someone can just buy it elsewhere for msrp or close to it. Its not 2020-2021 anymore

Paldea evolved has been really good to me I recently sold the magikarp in a psa 10 slab for 1500 big ones and currently holding the ttar and raichu in 10s def underated right now especially with the gem rate

100% agree on Paldea Evolved and Paradox Rift boxes to pick up. PE is such a deep and good set, same with PR but with the new Paradox pokemon cards that got leaked for Prismatic Evolutions, the old Paradox cards might be on the rise

sucks that japanese doesn't hold the same value because they are much better in terms of fun and collecting its fun to get cheaper cards but feels like you getting something that wont hold nearly as much value in the future.

People reeeeeeally overplay nostalgia as a selling point. As someone who grew up in the 90s with the first generation I absolutely don't base what I buy around the original pokemon, I buy based on set value, popularity, how many chase cards a set has, how much those cards are worth etc I'm not going "omg bulbasaur!" and just buying anything with bulbasaur in it, like what are we doing here man? I swear to god all I ever hear is nostalgia, nostalgia, nostalgia every single pokemon youtuber is the same, it's no where near as much of a selling point as you all seem to think, certainly not with serious collectors who would be spending the kind of money you're talking about on 20 year old sets in the future, I HIGHLY doubt anyone is going to go "I sure did like terrapagos when I was 8 years old, so as a 28 year old I'm gonna buy that $6000 stellar crown booster box because of how much I loved that space turtle!" 🙄 No. Just no.

You have doubts about the Bubble Mew? That's the most iconic card of the era, if you ask me.
