The Other Paul
Добавлен 14 дек 2018
Paul, but not the one who wrote most of the New Testament; the other Paul. My study is devoted to history, theology, and politics; these are the collective focus of my content. I aim to make said content entertaining even to laymen and also well researched enough that educational institutions can use them. All for the glory of Christ and the edification of His body.

I respond to Michael Jones (Inspiring Philosophy) on the question of Christian Nationalism, pointing out the most foundational flaws of his case along with some examples of poor arguments based on such. Why You MUST Learn the Biblical Languages
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; - Romans 3:23 And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. - Jeremiah 29:13 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. - John 3:16 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out. - Acts 3:19 If you’re in North America, please go check out any of the churches available to you: PCA, OPC, Rpcna, Urcna, or a Canrc church (These are conservative and actual Reformed/Presbyterian churches) If you’re Scottish, I recommend the Free Church of Scotland and the APC. (Different from the Church of Scotland) If you’re English I recommend the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England & Wales and the Free Church of England. (Different from the Church of England) Also online you can look up church finders for each of the groups, it’ll show you locations And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. -Hebrews 10:24-25

The problem with voting for the lesser of two evils is that if people don't see 3rd parties as a viable option, they will never vote for them and instead choose the lesser of two evils, and if you vote for the lesser of two evils too, you're decreasing the viability of 3rd parties. And if you continue to vote for the less evil party, that party will have no incentive to change.
I love my liez-faire economics
Yo what was that book that you showed on a Wagner stream that talked about different canons of the Bible throughout history?
Bruh...a minute long intro? What are you, a 90's sitcom?
1:59:00 As someone who lives in America with a First Past the Post voting system, it’s not worth voting for the lesser of two evils. Because the elites tell us “vote for this guy you hate slightly less than the other candidate or else it’s the end of the world!” When in reality it’s the difference between our world ending 49 years from now vs 50. And it’s more true the higher up in the government you go. So even in the US I think we’d be better off if more Christians just sacrificed at least one or two elections (both state and federal) to demand candidates that will abolish abortion completely because the wrath of God is gonna be over us until we repent as a nation.

Hola

I probably don't fully agree with either side but the intro is a masterpiece Paul. Quality memes. 32:22 The interesting thing here is that IP seems to agree that when Christian's have political power and cultural influence that we have not only the right but responsibility to use that agency in ways commensurate with living out the Gospel. Which if I understand it correctly is what Christian Nationalists are formally advocating for, even though I suspect I disagree with the extent of Wolfe's application, for example. Notably I disagree with Paul that nations are 'as natural as the nuclear family'. SO I do think the issue here, as Paul addresses, is that Mike's using a sociological definition which seems to lump in ethnofascists and broader Nationalist groups that prescribe to either a nominal view of Christian values not grounded in sincere belief or are merely Christless Conservatives who are making a mere historical claim about how they define 'the West'.
Iconoclasm is heresy whadyoumean
Overload of cringe
How can Protestants respond to the Easterners and the Roman “Catholics” when they point out that the opponents of st Jerome who are considered as heretics reject the same stuff Protestants reject today(praying to the saints being one of them)? Also it’s good seeing u doing livestreams with other Protestants
You should do a response to Pax Tube’s video on the protestant reformation.
True
I noticed something interesting about Trent Horn. Sometimes he would not directly answer a question that he is not sure about but deflect the topic and say oh the bible didn’t directly teach xyz( a specific validated christian doctrine) either starting at 41:50 in this video.
Are there any reformed theologians or modern reformed that use the septuagint? I'm reformed, and I'm pretty convinced of the septuagint
don't worry sir I am not using anna's archive. I am using z lib
Yes, it does. And by your immature straw man thumbnail, we cannot recognize you by your fruits as a Christian. I pray you heal and find salvation.
I really want a septuagint old testament, but I love the nkjv and feel weird about getting the orthodox study bible
@@PreDustined SOLUTION: either pick up a Brenton LXX (older, fancier English + Greek on each page) OR the recent Lexham translation of the LXX (modern English, very nice hardback)
Ah yes St. Muller.
I tackled Attic forty years after learning NT having been told it was very different, not true, and went on to read Homer and Plato with help. What I find really beneficial is being able to match the root words to one’s only occurring in composite form in the NT. Recently I discovered that Alice of Wonderland fame’s father was the Liddell of .the Lexicon, which I now find more useful for its etymological insights, in preference to Arndt and Gingrich.
How long did it take for you to get used to the dual stem?
@@TheOtherPaul Usually when I stand corrected, I don’t dwell on it. My biggest problem in Greek is getting my head round the middle, “marry” gives all voices, but with many verbs I am at a loss.
I have been pursuing a method of comprehensible input for ancient Greek that would be the of the same quality as some of the excellent Latin resources, with immersive reading in stages, and I'm convinced for now that the program has to be either self-designed by auto-didacts who can read some primary sources already through sheer experience, or else designed by the right teacher according to the individual student's needs. The trouble with nearly every Greek collection that has progressive reading is that at some point the reading makes a qualitative jump that is too drastic for the student to absorb. For example, JACT Reading Greek, starting at chapter 5. I started with a vocabulary and grammar foundation using both Athenaze and Croy, studying only the grammar and vocabulary and the artificial sentences. By about chapter 7 or 8 of Athenaze book 1, and after learning perhaps the first and second aorist in Croy, I then began the Jeoung reader and the beginning readings of Athenaze. But that is only what has worked for me. Since the different readers move too quickly in terms of comprehensible input, I needed to stay ahead in terms of vocabulary and syntax. I wouldn't do the biblical sentences in Croy until I had completed the participal section. I know this sort of defeats the whole immersion strategy but they're just is not a good availability of suitable readers. The university Greek language training systems lean on standardized grammar-translation and then throw the student into texts they cannot read naturally after the first year.
Piracy is a sin.
i am getting dragged below bedrock in that case :(
@@matnic_6623 Just repent of it.
Good thing I don't own a pirate ship
@@TheOtherPaul The form of piracy you’re doing is both illegal and sinful. That’s three strikes because being Anglican is also quite dumb. You’re deluded if you think you will ever enter heaven.

Comment below with any resources you found helpful for Ancient Greek. Also like/reply if you want to see a video for Latin resources.
Hi Paul!
If anyone is interested in working through the grammar by Mounce, I've got a free course that you can access on Odysee. My channel is called Biblical Studies. The videos are pretty raw. I was recording them over Zoom meetings so the audio isn't great and there are lots of other things about the presentation that could stand to be improved. But it's free and it will aid you through most of the textbook.
As a paradigm book I would also recomend the Grammar book they give us at High School here in Greece. This would be ofcourse the Γραμματική Αρχαίας Ελληνικής by Μ. Οικονόμου (the full version). Now Granded, it is in Modern Greek but even if you know basic AG I think you can understand much of it. This is the only textbook (plus a textbook on Syntax) I used to learn AG. And yes I was taught a Grammar-Translation method but it worked. I would definetely recomend you getting your hands on it; it is on par with the big Grammar Books of Smyth, Blass and Cambridge Greek Grammar.
I couldn't be bothered to watch the whole thing. Did you mention JACT's Reading Greek? I just use it like I use Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata, namely, reading passages every day for a week before moving on to the next.
Didnt mention JACT, I havent had the opportunity to sus it out well. Perhaps in a part two (which I am considering, mainly for auxiliary resources, like dictionaries)
@@TheOtherPaul It's like Wheelock's Latin combined with LLPSI. I just ignore all the grammar stuff and use the passages for reading with audio.
I used the UK’s OCR set from John Taylor. Greek to GCSE 1 & 2 then Greek Beyond GCSE. Then I just started using apps like the Greek NT from Olive Tree (With popup dictionary) and the Greek NT interlinear from Logos. After that I bought the Tyndale GNT for learning to read without the training wheels. I try to read along with modern Greek pronunciation using the chorusing method. Reading the Greek helped to spark my conversion to Christianity. I had always dismissed stories about Jesus, but reading them in detail and carefully (Due to my desire to learn Ancient Greek) was like reading them for the first time. The novum testamentum graece et latine is also great for developing the two languages at the same time.
Didnt expect to see the greatest eastern apologist on the screen who just randomly accuses the reformed of the most random heresy from the wheel he spins
Been a good day, went to church father club with my Anglican buddies. Then TheOtherPaul uploads? So lovely!
