Crown Royal Blackberry Cocktails You NEED to Try!
I normally don’t make comments on videos but have to completely disagree with you on Old Forester. I realize that you did not do the tour but their tour was one of the best on the trail. I highly recommend it. They also make a great old fashion.
Forgot to add the positives….great video and I agree with your tips.
That’s completely fair. People have off days, and maybe we just caught them on an off day. Didnt turn us off to OF by any means, it just wasnt what we were expecting. Thanks for watching! 🥃
The non alcoholic whisky sounds very appealing!
Well there ya go! Let’s see how it plays out this year!
I've bee to almost all of these distilleries. For me the worst experience was Angles Envy. The tours at Old Forester are great.
Good to know about the OF tours. Have you been to Angel’s Envy since they finished the remodel? Had a much better experience there this time than when it was under construction.
Thanks for exploring our city. Evan Williams Speakeasy experience is a must.. I also suggest Watch Hill Proper and the Hell and High water speakeasy.. Next time your around. Cheers.
also the Last Refuge. (All for Louisville spots)
Excellent! Watch Hill Proper was on our list, but we couldn’t squeeze it in. Seemed like a place to dedicate some time to! Thanks for the tips. Cheers 🥃
Great job dudes…subscribed and will pass along
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Next time come for the Lexington Bourbon Fest. You won't be disappointed.
Perfect! When is that?
What are the prices of flights a Michters bar.
To be honest, I don’t recall if they did standard flights at Michter’s. We opted for individual pours of things like Michter’s 10 (bourbon & rye), Toasted Barrell, and a couple others. Roughly $15-30 per pour depending on the bottle you choose.
There zero need to go to Buffalo Trace early in the day. I went by at 3pm and they had hundreds of Blatons out and kept replenlishing.
Yeah, that part was surprising to us, but glad to hear it’s “normalizing” somewhat.
That’s not true every day.
@ I would argue it is more days than not. Production is up big time with a lot of it now at maturity. This was highlighted multiple times during our tour a few months ago.
Bardstown Burger is a good place to get lunch or dinner in downtown Bardstown across Evergreen Liquor.
Nice! Thanks for adding to the list!
Great Vid Gents. !!
Appreciate it!!
You don’t need to stand in line at Buffalo Trace anymore. They never run out and often have multiple bottles. They also offer bottles that don’t count for the 90 day limit.
That may be due to recent weather closures. We don’t know for sure that kind of supply will continue.
That's not true at all. Don't give people bad advice, because on any given day they definitely might run out well before then.
Not mentioned are the cocktails at Michters. They are phenomenal. Great video. ❤
I bet they are! We opted for pours of harder to find Michter’s, but I’m sure their cocktails are phenomenal as well! Any in particular you’d recommend?
I would have loved to hear what bottles you purchased while on the trip. Always fun to find out what someone was able to find and enjoy.
Ah, good call! For this trip, we grabbed a few distillery-only bottles, including: 1) Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bottled in Bond (wider distribution now I believe) 2) Old Bardstown Bottled in Bond from Willett 3) Rabbit Hole Sucrule - finished in maple brule barrels…fantastic.
Awesome tips
Thanks! Have you been yet?
How can we aquire these new bottles?
Good question! Some bottles, like the Milam & Greene Wildlife Collection 2025 is slated to come out by the end of January. If some of the bottles mentioned in the video are not available in your local liquor stores, we recommend checking out their website and seeing if you can purchase a bottle there. Many distilleries sell directly to consumers via website.
Great video Guys. It was a pleasure hanging out with you guys at JMattingly. Come back as soon as you can.
Thanks, Dakota! We had a blast at JMattingly. We tell everyone we know about it!
Great informative and entertaining video! Thanks for sharing guys. Ryan, nice sweatshirts on the trip!
Thanks! Thought you might like those!
Great video, love the t-shirts!
Thanks!
thank you for the video...like the guy on the right..i was introduced to macallen about 8 years ago--it was smooth-but i had no idea what it was -maybe the dbl cask-but possibly a 18 yrs. or a vintage- as i was told, what i was drinking, was not on his bar 'menu'...however this helps me al ot...from another video listened/learned..i think i'm headed for my first purchase to be the sherry oak... prior to this was JD Honey and Gentleman Jack....Moreover, i do like something 'very smooth'--on a rarity. thanks
Nice! If you do end up getting it, we’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
@@BarrelHuntersATX thanks for your reply--i got the sherry cask 12 the other day-and new snifters-will try it out this week..peace
Listen you guys. I want a BABBLE HUNTERS t shirt and I want it right Fn now! Get it Ryan?
Excuse me, sir, but who are the BABBLE hunters??? 🤣
@ That would be you cool guys! Lmao!
I have Legent and the j mattingly double stave. The j mattingly is so delicious. Haven’t bought the others on the list yet. I ended up having a Jim Beam finished with tawny port
What did you think of the tawny port finish? Those are usually pretty damn good!
I would love to find that J Mattingly 1845, any tips where it's available?? Just found your channel and love you guys.
Welcome! If you’re having trouble finding it, definitely let your local liquor stores know and hopefully they can start getting shipments. You could also buy it right off the J Mattingly website. They ship to 45 states.
I got mine
I’d like to try and find the Blue Note. The price is ore my speed. I liked the review. Also I’m interested in if those cool BH tees you guys were wearing are available for sale? Lmk. Also the video was very informative and funny per usual.
Blue Note is excellent. Both Juke Joint and Crossroads are very good. The shirts aren’t available yet, but we’ll probably have a store pretty soon!
I went and poured some Balcones Texas Pot Still. It was either that or Baby Jane for as obscure as I have.
That Baby Jane is a GREAT pour!
@@BarrelHuntersATXyou
Great video! I really like the background of how Legent got its name. Very cool! 😎
Thanks! Yeah, it is a pretty cool story!
Nice short, I appreciate your take on Coy Hill.
Thanks! Have you been able to try this one, or any of the previous Coy Hill releases?
@BarrelHuntersATX Oh no, I’m just starting my bourbon adventure, am I’m trying more available and cheaper whiskeys/bourbons to see what I like, before I start going after the allocated and/or expensive bottles
Excellent! What are you liking so far?
@ Four Roses small batch, Michters straight rye, Buffalo Trace and some Scotch whisky
Awesome man. We’ve got some other videos you might enjoy, including some of our favorite bourbons and scotches for beginners. Cheers and Happy New Year 🥃
I just discovered Chattanooga last week. I'm in love with their High Malt Bourbons.
Amazing, right?
@@BarrelHuntersATX Yes they are!!!!
Very Rye Whiskey heavy, Bourbon and single malt light. Not everyone likes Ryes. It would would be great, albeit more 'work' to make a list of best Rye, Single Malt and Bourbon from each state.
Love the idea!
My introduction to whiskey was Jack Daniel’s Tennessee honey 😅 it still holds a special place in my heart
Ha! Now that’s a hell of an intro. Surprised you came back for more! 😂
i was working with a promo company when JD honey came out i think 2010-2011 and have the t shirt--i was impressed by it-loved the flavor
thanks for this information.
If you can find it, Whiskey Acres Blue Corn bourbon is amazing! I agree with all your list!
Oh nice! Is that different than the blue popcorn one, or are those one and the same?
@@BarrelHuntersATX Same.
These are some great ideas. Question though, or just a thought really. I'm not sure why you would need simple syrup on the vanilla one with the already sweet soda. Planning on giving this one a try though.
Thanks! And you can definitely adjust the amount of simple syrup, depending on how sweet you like it! Cheers 🥃
I have never seen a Blanton's in person, let alone at any acceptable price.
They’re out there, but rare. Recommend hopping on some local bourbon FB or Reddit groups. People usually announce when there are allocated drops.
@BarrelHuntersATX thank you kindly. I am more likely to get something kinda different characteristics to them that I can't really find videos on, lol, but still not pricey. Have become a huge rye guy last couple months. I would only get Blanton's if somehow fell in my lap for MSRP. Thanks again fellas.
Love these alternatives videos! Thank you gents!
Love to hear it! Thanks for watching!
Since when is blantons secondary 150-200? It’s 90-100 all day secondary
MSRP on Blanton’s is $80 these days. $150-200 is very common on secondary.
*Aber Lour, like Sour
Aberlour has been one of my favorite Scotch brands for years, and I've been saying wrong this entire time! 😭
Redbreast 12 is amazing! Nice to see it on your list.
Absolutely amazing. Don’t forget, you’ve been warned! 😂
Eddy low-balled me with the Highball and Ryan is nutty and fruity! Send me a case of those pricey ones. You can mix and match. Make sure I get it in time for Christmas! Thanks for another informative and entertaining video
Hahaha. Better make it 2 cases!
Never expected to see Barrell Seagrass Gray on the list. It's officially the most expensive whiskey I've had a proper pour of. But I really like the "standard" Barrell Seagrass. Like Tomatin 12 year, I'm a sucker for whiskeys finished in other spirits' barrels. Even Glen rum is pleasant enough.
Ha! Feel ya on the cask finishes. If you like peaty stuff, Kilchoman finished in mezcal barrels is delicious.
@@BarrelHuntersATX Might be worth looking into.
Tomatin 12 year, aged in sherry barrels is a favorite. Runs around $42 in southern MN. My favorite scotch.
Tomatin. Very nice, and very underrated!
@@BarrelHuntersATX Whenever someone asks for a nice "starter" scotch, I always name it off. I just love the pom-fruit notes, though it's prolly a step above a "note".
I'm still a sucker for Evan Williams BiB, the white label.
Yep. Hard to go wrong there!
Some very good suggestions there. I won't list any, as availability and pricing (and even other factors: e.g. Buffalo Trace 700ml at 40% ABV, rather than 750ml at 45%, but on most supermarkets' shelves) are rather different here...
Fair. Appreciate the feedback!
Oh boy, I just watched the entire video and I totally enjoyed it!! Keep up the great work!!
Thank you!
FYI... Frey Ranch has a Single Grain Series 100% wheated.
I bet it’s amazing. Havent had a bad sip of Frey Ranch yet!
Old Soul . Have you ever tried Crittentens?
Been wanting to, but haven’t had the pleasure yet. What’s your favorite from them?
@@BarrelHuntersATX I haven't had anything bad from them, but my favorite is the Double Oak 🥃
Love double oaks in general, so would definitely love to get our hands on one of those! Good lookin out!
@BarrelHuntersATX Next time I see one I'll grab us both one
Insert Denzel Washington “my man” gif here 🥃
This had to be the funniest of all the Barrel Hunters videos. And it is as informative as amusing! Boom boom boom!
Hahaha. Boom boom boom!
Montana - Jim Bridger bourbon!
You don’t know how close that was for Montana!
@ it’s my absolute favorite!
The bourbon apple cider was delicious! As was the hot toddy. I don’t drink milk but the first drink still looked great.
Glad you enjoyed them!
I appreciate you including different price points for gifts.
Glad you found that helpful! Now it’s just figuring out what to get, right?! 😂
I never have paid more than $75 for a Blanton's. I've passed at $80. Bardstown Origin is a very good substitute for Blanton's. It has the correct fruit and oak.
Bardstown is a great choice.
