My first motorbike was a 1949 rigid frame version of this bike, how I wish i still had it, but I know it went to a good home.

Great bikes. Go on forever. Sounds overgeared to me. Maybe fitted with an engine sprocket off a 500.

Here's a bargain for someone. Nice quiet motor, goes well, and enough fixing up to be a nice project for someone with mechanical skills and a bit of time on their hands. What's not to like?

I've worked on a couple of matchless twins, a G9 and a 650CSR. Lovely bikes but seriously underbraked, particularly the CSR!

My second bike, after the D1 Bantam on which I passed my test was a Claude Rye M20. I was a sixteen year old slogger

My dad had one. Bronze head and 4 valve for the single piston and the spokes went to the edge of the wheel rims.

My grandparents bought me a brand new 1966 D 10 what a peace of crap , a mate had a honda 175 cc i thought it had dropped to earth from a spce ship ! Everything worked on his bike , the lights , the brakes, you get the idea ! Oh not to be to scathing the tank was shiny!

I had a ,1958 version in grey and dark blue. It was totally reliable and handled well. I rode it all over the UK including the first Dragon Rally to Wales and the National Rally, often 2 up!
