Glad I found this video, thanks Mike. There’s something incredibly alluring for me about this wonderful gemstone. Of course it really comes down mostly to the colour(s). I might try to see if I can buy just one small stone just to marvel in its natural occurrence. Do you know of any trustworthy websites that I could look for one?
A selection of high grade from my personal collection, the Callais Collection, is available on the website as well as the three volumes of Turquoise in America. Go to turquoiseinamerica.com and select Store.
@@turquoiseinamerica3164 thanks!

Thank you. So helpful. Makes me scared that I could ever hope to find real, good turquoise! :(

Appreciate your work friend
This demonstrates the value of XRF testing in determining mine identification. Our motto at Turquoise in America is that an informed consumer is a better customer, but only for the honest vendor.
The great "Starburst" hoax. Some people love money more than truth
Bisbee- would you say Mr. John Hartman and Mr. Dillon Hartman at Durango Silver Turquoise have/has Bisbee High Grade Available.
I would think so.
Thanks again Mike!
You are welcome
Thanks for the information on Starburst, Mike.
My pleasure.
Is all iranian turquoise treated these days ? I bought a dark teal coloured turquoise with pyrite in it..someone told me it's a dead stone because it's dark in colour..may be someone applied something like oil on it so its damaged now and i should not wear it, is it correct what i was told ?
Most turquoise from Kerman is treated. Most from Nishabur is not. I can’t comment on your turquoise without seeing it. The turquoise from Kerman contains pyrite.
@turquoiseinamerica3164 thanks, atleast now I know that my turquoise is from kerman, might be treated too, next I'd be looking for a nishapuri feroza
❤❤❤❤
#8 gem grade is awesome. Blows all these away.
Once a turquoise is graded as gem grade then personal preference determines favorites.
Thank you for wonderful explanations and showing those beautiful gems! Have you ever heard about Silver Bell Turquoise", is this a "subspecies"?
Silver Bell is a turquoise mine.
@@turquoiseinamerica3164 Thank you very much from the other side of earth ; )
We have treated Neyshabur turquoise also , why you say, they arent!?😮 and now Iran has 4 active mine to product turquoise!
No one said the turquoise from Nishapur is not treated. Shahriyar said it is generally hard and does not require treatment unless cut for beads. The two main areas for turquoise production are Nishapur and Kerman.
Their website seems to be empty
Contact them by phone or email.
Looove persian turquoise with pyrite
Some beautiful selections available at turquoiseinamerica.com in the Callais Collection
The stones displayed in the video : what is the average price of the spiderweb and the ajami turquoise in dollars , give me atleast a guess
For HG to GG natural, $50-$70 a carat. You will find these stones at the Callais Collection on the website turquoiseinamerica.com . Treated turquoise, much coming from Kerman Provence, will sell for a few dollars a carat. Mid grade natural for about $5 a carat. Price rises exponentially with rarity.
Ayyy that’s Bob Brucia! I recently talked to him about a ring I bought at an auction with a possible Lander Blue cabochon in it. It’s likely from the Number #8 Mine though.
So it means we people will only get look a likes. So......can you explain if there really is purple turquois? I only ran across one litlle mention of it being a lavendar n it was because a mineral called something "ite". Magenitite maby or close.
Natural turquoise comes in a range of blue to green. Golden Hills,a turquoise from Kazakhstan, has a lavender hue but it is mostly treated. Purple turquoise is dyed.
Very informative
Where has this market
Indian Market is held every year in August in Santa Fe. There is a turquoise market at the same time.
I enjoyed seeing Deanna. I did business with her for many years.
She is very special.
I didn't catch Deana last name or company, anybody happen to know it? Ernie M. and Mike are fantastic.
Deanna Olson, Silver Sun in Albuquerque. She tells her story in Turquoise in America Part Two, 1910-1990
Deanna, I love the glasses.
That Lander Blue was yummy. 💙
Interesting that Ernie is holding on to the gem grade.
Hello from Germany 🍀💕🍀
Guten tag
Would you please do a video on greasy turquoise and beads ?
I have a santo domingo pueblo greasy turquoise bead necklace and I'm having trouble finding out good information
I posted a video of it on my RUclips please take a look and hopefully we can video chat about it
I don’t know greasy turquoise.

@@turquoiseinamerica3164 just for my personal satisfaction could I pay you to grade my turquoise nothing in writing just your thoughts
I am Iranian, living in Europe and Turquoise is my favorite gemstone and it is also the national gemstone of Iran. I specially like the variation which is blue-green with light brown veins or spots running through it. It is very common in jewelries made in Iran. Unfortunately, I cannot really find any jewelry made with the American Turquoise having the same color. Maybe cause it is graded lower in the western countries and found undesirable.
Persian turquoise, from Iran, comes in different colors and grades. It is most well known for the non matrix sky blue,Ajami. In US turquoise this would match Sleeping Beauty. Turquoise in matrix,Shajari, comes in different forms but at the highest grade often is similar to the highest grade of Bisbee. The newer mines in Kirman Provence often show pyrite and with blue similar to Kingman.
@@turquoiseinamerica3164 wow, thanks a lot for sharing all of that info. I had no idea they even had specific names in Farsi 😊 You are really knowledgeable. So that justifies why I only recently see jewelry with Turquoise from Kerman, because traditionally and till a few years ago you’d only see Neyshabour turquoise. I just looked up the names and what I like the most is exactly the Shajari variety.
@@ChadieRahimian The copper mines in Kirman produce turquoise. Most of it is soft and requires treatment.
@turquoiseinamerica3164 I want to know about the difference between hussaini, razzaqi turquoise? And is nishapuri and ajami feroza the same ?
@@MrsBalach I have never heard of either of those. Ajami is the highest grade clear sky blue coming from the mines near Nishapur (Neyshahbur) in the northeast of Iran.
there are black web tarquiose with quarts inclusion on vintage rings. I wonder where they could be from
Thanks Mike we never stop learning.
Aha you're in Santa Fe would mail you samples when I get a ground address EBABCOCK

@@turquoiseinamerica3164 very sorry to hear. Many people around here in Rochester NY are also coming down with it here and there
Thank you for all you share with us. 👍
My pleasure
I disagree with some of your scoring which reflects the differences in personal preferences for the variable beauty of turquoise. #3 has a better matrix pattern than #4. The rich blue color in #4 is stunning, but limited. I would give #3 a comparable score as #s 4 & 5 given the wonderful contrast between the blue and matrix.
That is inherent with grading involving subjective observation. Ideally there should be multiple graders with the final grade the average. I have found the variance to be less than 5%. If you read the XRF report which tests for both mine identification and grade you will see the high correlation between my TG,using subjective observation, and the test results.
@turquoiseinamerica3164 hi there. Yes. I watched your other follow up video after this one, and you explained it nicely. Agree with your assessment. Good stuff! Btw - any book signings coming up in the future?
@@LKellyKain No more signings. Signed books are available on the website.
Was there any mining of turquoise by the Pueblo dwellers after 1692?
Not to my knowledge.
Do you have a video showing off your turquoise collection?
Most of the videos show turquoise from the Callais Collection.
Glad I found you. Subscribed
Welcome.
🎉🎉🎉
I do prefer the scientific scale used on Instagram: A+ = Killer, Wow, Price? Amazing, (various emojis 3+ minimum or 10+ fire emojis) That’s pretty much standard mineralogical terminology - hope this helps 😁😁🧐
Hello Sir, Who & Where do you see Godber B. Red and Dark Web? Are they rare and gem grade & Why?
Godber gem grade is exceptionally rare including dark web which is why it is not often available in the market. The best source for any turquoise is the miner.
@@turquoiseinamerica3164 Thank you Sir.
Very interesting. Another great video. Thanks. 🙂
Glad you like it.
It's nice to see your attempts to disclose the somewhat history of Turquoise , however, you are a little naive about the facts. Dowell Ward borrowed funds from Phil Woodard for a Cat to strip the turquoise and he paid the loan back via the turquoise sold at IJS in Gallup. After his death the note reappeared and some dispicables from Gallup and Zuni tricked FAYE with the note and stole a truck and trailer of her Stabilized #8 and hid it in Gallup, later selling it to some Arizonians for big money as Natural ! this fiasco turned into a Huge Money Fraud Law Suit wherein , those sellers Lost and are still trying to recover from their Fraud ! Truth is 95% of #8 is Stabilized as is 95% of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise , especially the Current "My grandfather stored SB in his building for 50 years and I've found it just recently in Mexico just across the border from Tucson ", . There's way more Mexican Sleeping Beauty than anyone knows .That's just the Facts believe it or not . Best thing a buyer can do is deal with those who have proven Integrity . If you live long enough , you may know as much as i learned in 54 years for mining , cutting, selling and manufacturing jewelry with many Native American Artists ,using Natural turquoise 99% of the time ! Keep up the wonderful promotion of the Native American Culture !
Could you consider a episode on the natural nugget beads before shaping heishi or before spanish silver as you just said some on it
I am not an expert on Native American jewelry so not really qualified to present that topic.
Lousy sound cant hear you. But great book so much info is trapped on paper conquistadores take any back to spain?
Cortez received turquoise because the Aztec valued it above gold. Much ended up in museums in England and Scotland.
YOU ARE GUESSING TIME FRAMES OF NATIVE AMERICANS HISTORY BOOKS LIE ABOUT NATIVE AMERICAN TIMELINES ACOMA PUEBLO ARE CARBO DATED 30000 YEARS AGO AT SKY CITY
We are learning about the prehistoric period of turquoise mining. Whatever the history of Acoma there is no evidence of turquoise mining.
It is surprising to me that recent research on meso american (aztec) artifacts showed no turquoise imported from from the northern mines: ruclips.net/video/DApIqKZivHc/видео.htmlº
These studies suppose turquoise from the south but no mines have been located unlike in the southwest U.S. where most modern mines have indicated prehistoric mining.
Great video and historic perspective. 🙂
Thank you. Part Two will continue the story focusing on the importance of Pecos Pueblo as a trade center.
I love my late 80s C Turquoise. Since then MAGNASITE gets color & stabilized
There are many reputable Chinese turquoise dealers presenting beautiful turquoise both stabilized and natural.
Thanks Mike, It would be interesting to see some Black web No.8 or some Blue Star , which was the original name of this mine.
Would like to have some.
