    So these are the qualifying standards for just the Elite 15 race? How does the qualifying work for age groups? Or is it all the same?

    • @roxlyfe
      @roxlyfe 4 дня назад

      Yes this is for Elite 15. Qualifying for worlds for age groups happens at every event. Around the top 1% of each age group / division at each event will qualify for Worlds. The actual number of spots available depends on the numbers competing at that event.

  • @adariannegus6045

    Why so much money into the elite .. The money comes from the Age group elite.... That is where the sponsorship should be looking at... The average man and woman who have children and a full time job are way more important and interesting.. They bring the whole family and friends....... Think about it..... Age group brings the numbers and money....

    • @roxlyfe
      @roxlyfe 4 дня назад

      Thats not how any sport works though. People do want to see the Elites. The Olympics atthe moment are being watched because its the best of the best. Its Premier League football where the money and TV coverage goes - not Sunday league football. Watching Wimbledon isnt about watching your average club tennis players - its about the best in the world. Thats what the Elite 15 process is too - watching the best.

    • @MattAram-nq2pc
      @MattAram-nq2pc 3 дня назад

      Yes age group brings in more money at the stadium, but no one wants to watch live coverage of average athletes racing, the Elite 15 is where the real potential is, watching the fittest Hyrox athletes on earth take each other into the deepest points of exhaustion and seeing who comes out on top, it’s an absolute spectacle

    • @roxlyfe
      @roxlyfe Месяц назад

      Thanks! On the running volume thing, yeah I agree I noticed that. But its worth adding that not all the Elites are like that. I dont think, on the Womens side for example, that Megan or Lauren would describe themselves as lower volume runners, and (I cant be sure) but I dont think JK (who finished 3rd in the mens race) would either. So Alex and Sandys approach isnt necessarily a trend!

    Quick question am I technically at a disadvantage if I do the pro race and trying to qualify for the world champs. Because someone in open could beat me by say 1 min an qualify over me yet I would most likely perform better at world champs makes no sense

    • @roxlyfe
      @roxlyfe 2 месяца назад

      The time that someone gets in the open isnt relevant compared to your time. The places are allocated by division. So there would be X number of qualification spots in the Pro division (based on how many people have entered it). And same in the Open. Its theoretically possible though that someone in the open could be SLOWER than you and qualify, its down to how many in each division on the day, and how fast those competitors are.

    • @roxlyfe
      @roxlyfe 2 месяца назад

      The women in the video are all using Pro weights. Since these were taken, HYROX have a new equipment provider (Centr). While the total weight is the same (including sled), because the sled weight is different to what it used to be, the number / weights of the plates used has changed. That said the sleds now weigh 52kg (ish) and the total weight is 152kg, so yes they now use, I think, 4*25kg plates on the sled.

    Great episode. Reminds me of Olav Aleksander coaching the Norwegian Triathletes. Great to see the engineering mindset. Love Anthony's obsession with the sport. Wonder what splits he's tracking in the races -- don't think he said what specifically he's looking at!

    • @roxlyfe
      @roxlyfe 3 месяца назад

      Thank you! Yeah, must admit when I listened back I thought I should have asked him about the splits. My guess is its the time they spend actually doing the station. Like rowing is an obvious one - the time the Mika data shows for your rowing time includes getting into the rower, out the rower etc as opposed to just time rowing. Same for things like ski, sled push, sled pull, etc. Depending on venues that extra time in a station can differ - a UK course with 50 sled push lanes, for example, can take longer to get in and out of than a smaller venue. And then for what he's tracking, which is the Elites, it can be even more important because they rarely have a roxzone time in the grid races, it all goes on to stations or runs.

    • @TheHybridEngine
      @TheHybridEngine 3 месяца назад

      It is a lot of splits per length times. For example, how long each length of sled push takes and how much time is spent at forced or normalized stopping points (the ends). I’ll also compare stopping/rest durations between athletes.

      Thanks. I think the times shown for the BBJ are wrong, but there is extra time in the roxzone section afterwards. For example, you can see JK spent 01:45 in the roxzone straight after burpees.
