      Hey just wondering did you stay on it and did you taper off it at any stage?

    • @HuxleyWasRight
      @HuxleyWasRight 4 года назад

      chris hutchinson came off them during lockdown, went from 45 to 30 to 15 to 7mgs then off them totally over the course of a month, thought it would be a good time to try and get off them whilst not working but within a couple of months I had to go back on them, I thought I was doing good without them but slowly my symptoms returned IE my sleep was terrible, I was tired, irritable, generally depressed and was getting bad depersonalization/derealisation so I made the decision to go back on mirtazapine and within a couple of weeks I felt better again, I’ll probably have to stay on mirtazapine for at least a year now before attempting to taper again.

    • @therealgist
      @therealgist 4 года назад

      @@HuxleyWasRight that's interesting. Did you have all these symptoms before you started mirtazapine including depersonilization? All my mental health problems started in March this year with a panic after smoking weed. I've went on a downward spiral of anxiety and depression including depersonilization /derealization. I was on sertraline for a bit but it was making me worse so GP put me on 30mg mirtazapine. I took 1/4 of a 30mg the other night and was wasted for a couple of days. Couldn't believe such a small amount could do that so am freaked out about taking 30mg. Although I've read its less sedating at higher dose. Have also read horror stories about coming off mirtazapine but I guess you only hear the bad stories and not the good ones. Glad it's working for you. Gives me some hope 👍

    • @HuxleyWasRight
      @HuxleyWasRight 4 года назад

      chris hutchinson yes I had these symptoms before starting so I guess mirtazapine fixes something in me which lessens the symptoms quite considerably, They do properly whack you out to begin with but after a week or two that effect fades, one thing they do for me is make me want to do stuff, I’d lost a lot of motivation and they have restored it to a degree, They definitely help me sleep 7+ hours a night, I actually think many of my issues come from a lack of sleep, when I’m not on them I was only getting 4-5 hours a night. I don’t think I had withdrawals I just think my old symptoms re-emerged and I relapsed, think I had dry mouth and some palpitations when I came off them completely but nothing overwhelming.

    • @HuxleyWasRight
      @HuxleyWasRight 4 года назад

      chris hutchinson have you seen the film “numb” with Matthew perry in ? The film is about someone who experiences depersonalization after smoking weed. It’s not a great film but is worth watching is you have this disorder, many people get it after smoking pot.

    On 30 mgs for 3 yrs now and I wish I had never been put on it. I gained 75 lbs I didn't need. I was at a healthy weight, but now obese. I also have memory problems on it. After many failed trials of antidepressants, it was the only medication that helped with my social phobia. After some major setbacks, this drug isn't doing it, but even my Dr doesn't know what else to put me on since it's an atypical antidepressant and a stronger class of meds would likely cause more weight gain and more serious side effects. So now I feel disgusting about myself bc of my weight and I am more down and lonely than I was yrs ago.

    Recently, I’ve been exploring my own personality and how it may relate to my depression, and I came across the MBTI personality tool. I took a free online test and I found out that my personality type actually plays a major role in how my brain functions as an introvert. I’m still discussing this new discovery with my therapist and how can I utilize it in my healing process, but all I can say is that it has been an eye-opener. I hope this may help you with your own journey of self-reflection.

    The self-sabotage you’re talking about is what I’m going through right now. I’m only one course away from graduation, and I have already taken it 3 times. It’s supposed to be an easy subject which I used to enjoy, but with my poor attendance and not doing the work I was only staging my failure. I understand that this extreme loss of interest and lack of motivation are normal symptoms of depression, but I hate that they’re keeping me in a vicious cycle of unproductivity. Thanks a lot for sharing, and I really appreciate the message of “you’re not alone.”

    I'm on mirtazapine currently, was originally on 15mg and it knocked me out the first night. After several weeks of oversleeping and generally not seeing improvement I told my doc who then told me to up my dose to 30mg. He said there was a threshold with mirtazapine where more is less and I'd be less drowsy/sleepy on 30. it's only been a couple days since upping the dose and I'm super erratic and hot headed but that could be due to other factors/medications... Did you have vivid dreams? Each night I practically confused dream for reality and it can be alarming. I don't know if the decisions I'm making are "sane" either, kinda feel like an outsider peering in and watching some crazy person. Considering getting off of it but going to give it 1 more week. Thanks for the helpful information!

    at least you can go outside.. im literally afraid of talking to strangers because i wont say the perfect or right thing for the situation. depression and stress aside, i keep to people ive known for 8+ years, because i know when talking to them we can understand eachother "perfectly" and there is no mistakes or failures between. i have the same problem of wanting to do something that i enjoy but i cant do it. but what you say helps a lot. its super stressfull to solo queue in dota... i just cant stand the possibility disapointing people. even if i win, i still over analyze my game to the point where i think i was a burden in the long run. even though i have played it for 8 years. but im trying to overcome it. your video helped me queue a ranked game.
