Vlog 12 - Lithium Install on my Narrowboat
Nice boat. My running costs are very similar, though I don't do a lot of mileage, so less diesel. Also i recently paid 500 hour service, there may be other bits to do every year., like checking coolant, also they remove the oil, and reach down in to the engine hole. I work out my diesel usage at 1 litre per engine hour. That covers a bit of central heating and charging batteries. I just had to get medical treatment. 111 wanted me to go to my GP, but he is a long way, so I went to Urgent Medical Clinic, at nearby hospital. I felt It was more appropriate.
@@ladygardener100 hi there, that’s good to hear my costing are right, the hidden costs are the big ones 😂😂😂 hope your ok too 👍🏼
Hi Ian. I was just passing and thought I'd check in and see how you were going. I can see from Glyn's messages and your replies that things are going well. That's good news. Congratulations on becoming a grandfather. Sounds like the weather is turning towards winter already over there. Spending winter in the marina sounds like a nice warm comfortable option! Take care. Cheers.
Thanks Neil, very much appreciated and yes I’m enjoying some downtime and enjoying a little time in comfort in the marina, it will be nice to spend some time over winter here, finally a lovely grandson 🤗🤗🤗 take care pal, chat soon.
Great job 👏
@@sheepdog1102 cheers 👍🏼
Nice layout and well done!
@@sheepdog1102 thank you 🙏🏻
Was that "Unchained Melody" you were playing on the guitar? 🧐
Oh that was a while ago, Perfect by Ed Sheeran if I remember 🙈🙈🙈
Hi Ian hope everything is fine and you are recharging your batteries just to let you know a peregrine falcon was in our garden last week got a great look at him lucky I had kept a poster of birds otherwise wood not have been able to identify. He was after either I woodpecker or blue tits on the feeders in an apple tree 3 meters from the kitchen window. This week the wife spotted him again and definitely confirmed it . That and the kingfisher that came in the winter several days on the run sitting and staring into the wildlife pond but no fish in there. Probably the last of the dragon flies now the weather is not so good Anyway that’s it you take care Glyn 👍👍👍
Hi Glynn, thank for the lovely message, great to hear about the wildlife you have, unbelievable peregrine 😱 I have been up the Lake District for three weeks, birth of my Grandson also Angel is in a marina now, so easy living in there for a while, may not set off again until spring 🙏 stay safe pal 👍🏼
Great news Ian or should I say Grandpa 👍👍👍 . Yes the peregrine landed on the top of a hedge next to the apple tree I was looking at the bird feeders most of the birds flew off but the wood pecking on the nuts and 1 blue tit stayed moved to the opposite side and just froze that’s what got my attention then the peregrine flew or should I say jumped from the hedge to the apple tree. I watched for a couple minutes enough time to get the poster out of the draw I could only tell at first when it opened its wings jumping between the branches then its face . The kitchen window is only 3 meters away but we do keep the blind at a good angle so we don’t disturb the birds when making a hot drink. Anyway that’s enough I will not bother you again I think you will be busy enough now looking forward to the spring already cheers 👍👍👍
Really enjoying your vlogs! So informative but fun. Q about that funny shaped lock… if you were going in the other direction would you have had to get off at the bow? I ask because there doesn’t look to be a landing point there! 😬 am going to talk to Aintree boats soon about a little 25ft to pootle about on, not a live-aboard, just for me & the dog 😊 👍🏼
Hi Pal, there is always a way to get off, sometimes at the bow yes, but it’s always manageable no worries 😉
Good luck with the boat too 👍🏼
@@NarrowboatAngel thank you ☺️

Hi Ian, It's been an absolute pleasure catching up with you and your cruises each week. It's clear that you put a lot of effort into the filming and editing, and it's obvious that you enjoy doing it. Thank you for all that hard work, for letting us into your world and for showing us how wondrous life can be on the cut. I'm glad to hear that the break is not due to ill health or anything "bad". I am sure that you will have things sorted in no time. Good luck, take care and know that we will all be here waiting, patiently, when you get back. Cheers mate.

Great vlog! Lovely scenery by your flying pal! It works wonders with perspectives! Ashby de la Zouch with the retro music: 💎Have a great week, since we have the same age: take it easy! Lols!❤
Thanks Eric, very much appreciated pal, loving the secret drone 😂👍🏼😂
Ian that was lovely nothing better than an early morning walk that drone is like a dog technology today is unbelievable you would not have believed it 30 years ago .Take care mate see you next week 👍👍👍
Thanks Glyn, yeah love an early morning walk, the drone is top secret next level photography, I think it’s amazing 🤩😂😂😂 have a great week 👍🏼
You can't beat an early morning walk
Hi Pete, your absolutely right there pal 👍🏼
Hi Ian, very interesting vlog that, and you are getting used to that drone!!😂. Couple of things that crossed my mind as you mentioned turning Angel around. Do you find many issues with turning around with Angel being 60’? And is 60’ the longest or can you get longer?
Hi Andy, no problems at all being 60ft, you can do almost the whole network 2000 miles on a 60, you can go to 70ft but limited travel 👍🏼
That's great for me walking the restoration miles of the canal. Great insight Ian..how do u control the drone with no hands...brilliant footage and a grand old pie to finish👏👏
Good question Dave, but it’s still too secret 🤫 😂😂😂 Have a great week 👍🏼
Lovely views, peace and tranquility at the beginning of the day, what could be better! Let’s hope they can progress the restoration further, love to see these old canals back in water.
Thank you, yes it turned out to be a lovely walk, although I did get soaked 😂😂😂
Great blog what a lovely walk it a shame when government and river trust shut places like this down and its left like me and you to get it fixed but a lot of vloggers have done since 2020 and the only thing that has changed is a padlock on the last lift bridge in four years that very bad someone needs to pull finger from up bumb back side stay safe and keep up these great vlogs love them you tea looked very nice but your a sad bugger no gravy
Spot on, I believe they are hoping to get the section turned over to the trust from the local council any day now so works can continue, let’s hope it starts moving again very soon 👍🏼
Hi Ian Just love your magical drone lol (look ma no hands). Asked uncle google about the restoration work on the canal. It appears that there is a major fund raising program going on now and there seems to be work going on in the background. It also appears that the Leicestershire County Council is going to transfer the "Transport and Works Order" over to the Ashby Assoc. Wikipedia has some good information on all of it. Mark Alberta, Canada
Spot on Mark, it seems like they are going to be moving forward very soon, it will be nice to go back there in a few years and update the works 👍🏼
Love an early walk , great to see a canal before work has been done we have got Gaia thanks you and it really is a good app. Another super vlog thanks so much Ian 👍❤️❤️❤️
Awesome, thank you Jaqueline, glad you enjoyed it and yes love Gaia for walks 🤗🤗🤗
Hi Ian, thanks for another brilliant vlog - you put me in a good mood. I've noticed you've got a new assistant during filming...but we've only seen glimpses of it - it would have been nice to get a little introduction to the type and how it works. the pictures turn out really amazing! Have a nice day ahead, greetings Tore 🇳🇴
Thanks 👍 secret filming I’m afraid, I couldn’t possible divulge my state of the art equipment 😂😂😂
@@NarrowboatAngel😂 see that it's ultra-modern high-tech, and it's cool - keep going and have a lot of fun!
Thank you 🤩 very much appreciated 🤗🤗🤗
Enjoyed the walk and scenery, hope they continue with the restoration of the canal 🤞😍
I hope so too Viv, glad you enjoyed it 🤗🤗🤗
Nice vid. I really like your drone footage. You’ve probably talked about how it works but I’m a newish subscriber. Any info or a link to how your drone works would be awesome. Keep it real sir. Ian
Thanks Ian, glad you enjoyed the vlog, there is a link on my profile information of all the filming equipment I use 👍🏼
Thanks for that very interesting video Ian. That was a long brisk walk in the early morning. Fascinating work on that final leg of the Ashby canal. Let's hope they can pursue its restoration. Again, great drone work. Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it Neil, thank you 🙏 yes will be a great addition to the system when it’s up and running 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing Ian. Great info, epic views, entertainment and a promise of no singing 😅😂 brilliant The drone footage following you is great.
