Hello Elham , I want to contact you to guide me if possible because I want to do a mini project: day cream for different skin types. Thank you
hello Sonia. Thanks for your message. You can use this link to book a meeting to discuss your project: shop2.skinchakra.science/Virtual-meeting-with-Elham/1o124
Chelators are also used in ag farming
What is SCS?
sodium coco sulfate
One small observation: EDTA has six coordination sites. The tertiary nitrogens can coordinate as well. You can look up the structure of Zn or Fe(III) with EDTA.
thank you
Thankyou for your video, I have an overhead stirrer and wondering what blade you would use for the emulsions? also you said small quantities, what size do you suggest.
@@amandaferguson9376 the quantity depends on the motor and capacity of the stirrer. The blade depends on the viscosity of the emulsion. We use a propeller for dispersing gum and for low to medium viscosity emulsions and an anchor blade for high viscosity emulsions
Man, that is one thick persian accent lol
Hello, thank you so much for the video. This was really helpful. I am working to create oil based lotions for my at home business. Can you please recommend a reasonably priced homogenizer I can consider? Thanks. I subscribed to support your channel.
thanks for your kind words. Misceo and IKA are the two ones we can recommend for your purpose
@@skinchakra thank you 😊
Thank you very much much, I have been trying to work out the difference and which one to buy as a beginner. Your video was very clear. Greatly appreciated.
@@cee2615 thank you this is very motivating
Looks so lovely. I really want to learn to make a nice, light cream gel viscosity.
@@michellevenablebrown8998 you just need to try
Elham joon, do you know where I can buy konjak gum powder? I cannot find a reliable seller here in the US for the life of me and I don’t want to buy it bulk since I’ve never experimented with it😢 I’m asking since I got inspired to use it all because of you :)…also, what courses do you recommend on cosmetic formulation for someone who has biochemistry background? The ones I found were all by DIYers with their advanced topics being how to convert grams to percentages 😐😅 I am familiar with most of chemical terms/concepts. Do you think I should just self study? Is there any textbook you recommend? MerC azizam
nope. It seems it's quite a rarity right now
You need to cove the hole of the disperser!
Is the formula for this basic foam cleanser in the members portal somewhere? …. Also, I vote for more colors! I just used Pigment Blue in a scrub today and it looks so pretty.
not but this will appear in our new ebook
Can I get the ingredient list and formulation Thank you
it's available to our members only. You can purchase it by using this link shop2.skinchakra.science/Single-article/sub-0
Nice ❤ Are there any other colors available?
Yes there are but we don't have them yet
Where can I purchase that homogenizer and what is the model number?
This is IKA ultra turrax you can order it directly by IKA or any lab supplier who works with them
Please where did you get the ph electrodes? I'm just starting out please
we purchase them directly from Hanna instruments
❤ gorgeous!
Thank you for this presentation ❤ It really makes clear how chelators work for a non-chemist
glad we could help
Hi ma'am , Is it possible to formulate a ZnO based oil in water rash cream? Or need it always be W/O in nature? If possible, can you please do a video on the same. Thank you
yes it certainly is possible
Would it perform similar to glyceryl behenate?
not exactly
Hi ma'am Very informative video. Thanks. I have read in various articles that use of emulsifiers based on polyglycerol or the use of hydroxystearates are best for w/o emulsions. But i can't source these from my local suppliers. Is it ok to use a combination of sorbitan oleate and sorbitan stearate or sorbitan oleate and glyceryl stearate for my w/o cream?
Hi back. Thanks for your kind words. Unless you are extremely fit in emulsion making and know all of these emulsifiers in and out we recommend using proved commercial emulsifier blends for your formulations
Terrific!
Well, in the usa thats about $400
good to know.
Thank you for this video, I really love this channel 🤩. I have two question: 1) You say Chelating Agent bind ions in the formula. Can I use Chelating Agent if I have Zinc PCA or Zinc Lactate in the formula? 2) You say, we DONT use chelating agent with Sodium Chlorid or Magnesium Sulfate? Can I use Chelating Agent if I have Sodium PCA or Sodium Lactate in my formula? I am a bit confused by the names of the ingredients, I am still a beginner 😊. Thank you in advance 🤗
thanks for your kind words. Yes and yes to your questions
Hello how to join your online courses
For an o/w emulsion and for w/o, how long do you have to mix the IKA ULTRA TURRAX 25T basic? I just bought one on Ebay and I don't know how long it takes to get the smallest particles possible, for a stable emulsion. I know that stability depends on several factors, but now I am referring to the mixing time. Thank you!
I had the doubt. You answered it!
this is great.
Hi can you do a video about Buffers and how to make them because I work with urea and the pH decrease over time .. 😢it ‘ll help a lot ❤
Hi Mary we cover this topic in our pH related courses
Awesome information, thank you!
Excellent information, thank you!
thanks. This is very kind
Thank you for your videos! I just found your channel two days ago and I’m so happy I did!
thank you this is very kind
Thankyou for the detailed explanation, what about the air bubbles we get after stirring.
in an industrial scale they use deareation to get rid of the air bubbles. In an artisanal lab you need to avoid them upfront
Hello Mam, can you say how much of weight that we have to take for each compounds. I'm a med student and I would like to prepare this by myself. Can you please guide me to prepare this by myself mam.
the percentage breakdown is in the blog post
@@skinchakra thank you mam
Hello Elham, thank you for another useful "mini-lab". It generated at least one question to which I hope you'll have the time to answer: rice starch in emulsions helps with the water activity(less free-water) or creates more issues for the preservation system? Thank you. Wishing you Happy Winter Holidays and a wonderful New Year, full of health and happiness❤
thanks for your kind words. The starch doesn't reduce the water activity but does not increase the risk of contamination. In all the years we have been using it and our customers have been using it we never had any contamination issues nor did we have to increase the concentration of the preservatives compared to when the starch is not present in the formulation
@@skinchakra Thank you, indeed: it's a huge relief to know that the "bugs" won't have a fiesta.

very well. Thank you
Thank you for this video. I love making emulsions, but the use of emulsifiers still befuddles me from time to time, especially when it comes to emulsifier to oil ratios.
thank you. That is something defined by the emulsifier and varies from emulsifier to emulsifier
I can not understand her I have to strain totry to under stand what the hell she is saying🥵😬
thanks for your feedback. Then you have to go through the pain of reading the blog post
Thank you for explaining the difference between the two! 😊
you are very welcome
Thanks so much for this comparison! I've checked out the Dynamix one with the homogenizer attachment and also the Misceo 250 P - both seem to be almost identical, with the only difference being that the Dynamix is 220W and Misceo is 250W. Do you think there are any other differences in the two that would warrant buying only the Misceo? On ebay, I'm finding the Dynamix for A LOT CHEAPER! Please share your thoughts!
the main advantages are that you can change the agitator tool and can put it on a stand, both of them must be purchased separately but that is an advantage of the Misceo over the dynamix
Ooo! How did I miss this 3 week challenge?! I hope it’s still available! I’m going to check out the link now to see if I can still sign up… sounds like something I’d love (and need)! I SOO appreciate all you do for us formulators! Thank you! 😊
Aww, it looks like it’s definitely closed. I’m so bummed that I missed this! Will you be offering another one in the future? If so, I’ll make sure I keep an eye out for in my emails - sometimes things get lost or overlooked with all the spam. I just recently signed up again with my business email, that way I don’t miss out on anything as important as this. Best wishes to all!
Asha we will repeat the challenge in Sep or Oct this year. If you have subscribed to the newsletter you will be informed when the registration is open
One of the biggest mistakes I ever made when I first began formulating was NOT starting and keeping a “formulation journal”! Now, I seriously couldn’t live without it. And I’m like you - I’m old school in that I like keeping my journals (I have a few for various things/categories that are organized accordingly) in notebooks. But I do have some files on my computer as well. I store them to the “cloud”, so they’re safe and easily accessible on my laptop, phone and iPad for convenience.
that's an excellent approach
For a bi phase product, would you need a co-emulsifier so your product doesn’t completely turn into an emulsion…. Or how would one make it so that a bi phase product is stable enough to evenly disperse the oil and water phase with the little seconds of meeting time they have?
no you do not need any co-emulsifier. That's the art and science of formulating
