      @hughferrier5837 Месяц назад

      Just noticed this. You are right Rodney. It has very few external leaks now. Took a long time to get to this stage. I wish I could see the leak. I top up the gearbox and if I drive about 100 miles the oil level drops considerably. I have made a dipstick out of fence wire which reaches the bottom of the gearbox if I put it in fourth. Saves faffin about with the gearbox overflow pipe underneath. In a previous film I showed the battery covered with oil which I felt could only be coming from the oil tank overflow. I have fitted a tube to drain to underneath the bike. I believe I could have an internal leak from the gearbox to the crankcase. I am going to strip it again in the new year. I will put the gearbox back together and seal it. No crank in the engine side. I will then put paraffin in it and try and see where it leaks out. I will also try putting a light in the gearbox and look for light leaks when it is dark. You can see I'm getting desperate. Thanks for your interest.

    Know these roads like the back of my hand. About a half mile shy of the Meig dam in the early seventies there's a small straight. It was about 11pm and pitch black. When I turned the corner onto the straight, I caught a black shadow leap onto the road from the right hand side of the road. It stopped, turned it's head and looked towards me. The headlights reflected in its eyes. It was almost the width of the road from nose to a long curled up tail, and was jet black. It only paused momentarily before leaping to the left towards the river. Straight away I thought black panther! Laughable I know, but that's what I saw. Shortly after that a man a few miles away as the crow flies trapped a puma at Tomich, that lived its life out at the Kincraig wildlife park. It made sense to me. I'd seen the one that got away. About that time there was a law brought out that required licences to be held by wild animal owners, and the theory was that a lot of them just released them in the wild.

      @hughferrier5837 Месяц назад

      Hello Stuart and thank you again. I'm, like you, feeling good about my health. I wish you all the very best and am delighted that your a Neddy! I know I had the hernia repaired and two skin cancers removed this year but they are trivial. My prostate removal last year after cancer did not result in my PSA dropping to zero. In fact it climbed from 0.2 to 0.5 earlier this year which alarmed me. If it were to go above 0.5 I agreed to be referred to oncology from urology. But I'm delighted with my last test which came back down to 0.2. I had a PSMA PET scan in November '23 which showed no evidence of cancer. If God is willing then everyone is stuck with me for the foreseeable future. I am self taught at welding. I did a complete rebuild of a Landrover and of a Mini where I welded up the Landrover chassis and then the Mini replaced at least 1/4 of the bodywork. But I just don't know how to judge the heat and the speed of the wire when MIG welding. You may be joking but its all too true. However I have a replacement stand so don't have to worry about it. I believe my kick starting technique to be wrong. I don't think your supposed to do it while on the stand but it is so much easier for an old man like me. Look forward to hearing from you in the Spring.

    Good morning mr ferrier, happy to see you out & about & on a scooter no less. Is it a burgman?, i had one, loved it & it went like a bat out of well, you know. I always watch your videos, so entertaining & peaceful rides & to gush onwards, what a countryside. The little green bike is a treasure, the proper colour as well. Anyway, sorry for being longwinded, it's the first i've ever messaged you & i've always wanted to tell you just how much i enjoy yourvideos, thankyou, glad your recovering successfully, ric, ontario canada, love that black bike,i have a 650 suzuki s40 boulevard & a piaggio bv 500 "scooter" black metallic paint, it's my baby. Hello Ric and thank you for your kind words and your interesting info. It makes all the hard work of recording and editing so worthwhile. The scooter is a 1999 Yamaha Majesty YP250. It is incredibly comfortable and can carry a vast amount in all its compartments. Earlier in the year I was out West when the drive belt shreded. Never mind I carry a spare and a big toolkit. I changed it by the side of the road but cannot have tightened the variator correctly because in just 20 more miles another belt shredded and the variator was rendered scrap. Stranded! I pushed the bike into a wood and got my good lady to rescue me. The next day I went out in my car and took the bike apart completely to get it in sections into my car. The frame nearly killed me, the weight of it. I managed to clean the crankshaft splines and get a new variator from Aliexpress. However I found the frame and centre stand had rusted through in places so had to weld in repairs. Also the bolt that the engine bracket hinges on was solid and had to be cut out. It got quite a rebuild. The C15 though it breaks down a bit has never done one like that! The fuller story is on my blog hferrier.co.uk/personal/?page_id=6857. Amazing to hear from Ontario. I have one more film to create and that will probably be me for the year. Winter is coming on though I know our winters are nothing like yours.

It is not really sophisticated but compared to the C15 it is. It has incredible space to carry stuff and is extremely comfortable. But it's not cool! It is ideal for an old man.
